Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955861 Composed by Rudolf Sieczynski. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. 7 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6487467. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955861). Vienna is among the most sung about cities in Europe, particularly during the interwar period. Austrian composer Rudolf Sieczynski composed this nostalgic waltz Wien, Du Stadt Meiner Träume (Vienna, City of My Dreams) paying homage the city of his birth. He describes Vienna as if it were a woman, wooing a man with her divine beauty.  This song was popularized by the Austrian tenor Richard Tauber in 1935, and is featured in the soundtrack of Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut.  This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  It uses both the original German lyrics, and Edward Lockton’s English text. Performance time: 2:43+- Heaven, Vienna mine, laughter and music and stars that shine; Wonderful city where I belong, Of her I sing my song.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027822 Composed by Chris LaBenne. A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 4 pages. C. LaBenne Music #3010555. Published by C. LaBenne Music (A0.1027822). An acappella choral piece dedicated to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City. Scored for SSATB choir. A dramatic Latin text setting in F minor, composed in the tintinnabuli style made famous by Arvo Pärt. Pärt calls his vocal composition technique tintinnabuli, a Latin word meaning ‘the ringing of bells’. Pärt claims that the three notes of a triad ‘ring like bells’. In tintinnabuli, the tonic triad is always present somewhere within the piece; either the root, third, or fifth of the tonic triad will always be heard. This provides the unique ability to create striking dissonances that remain unified by the underlying tonality, and resolve satisfyingly back into the tonic. This is evident when listening to Epitaphium Innocentum; the way that one or more lines drift away stepwise from the tonal center while others remain on it is jarring in motion, but very pleasing upon resolution.  We are the heroes -- we are the axis of the stars.
