Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.821201 Composed by Gordon Thornett. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 14 pages. Gordon John Thornett #3861793. Published by Gordon John Thornett (A0.821201). Prelude and Cherubic Hymn was commissioned by the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, to mark the 25th anniversary of their annual Advent services held in Berlin Cathedral. It was performed by joint choirs, drawn from students, parents and faculty, and choir members of the American Church in Berlin on 29 November 2017.The piece is built around the ancient hymn, Let all mortal flesh keep silence. I was asked to write an organ prelude, to serve as a processional as the choirs assembled. This may be ordered separately through SwirlyMusic.org - and now also through SheetMusicPlus.After an opening fanfare-like section, the hymn setting starts gently, with sopranos singing in unison, with successive verses using contrasting choral forces to reflect the words, and the music builds to a big climax, with a return of the fanfare opening, for the final verse, At his feet the six-winged seraph, ending with joyful Alleluias. Although originally conceived for a large chorus with orchestral accompaniment, the setting may be performed with just organ or piano. There's a youtube video at https://youtu.be/HQwYDJRdmcc - this is an extract from the first performance in the magnificent setting of Berlin Cathedral, which was packed to capacity. The quality of both sound and picture isn't great, but it will provide you with an idea of the atmosphere and impact of the piece.  The sound recording covers the whole piece, using Sibelius sounds. (You may also like to hear a computer generated recording of the whole piece.)Dr. Joseph R. Curtis, Choral Director at the JFK School, writes:Prelude and Cherubic Hymn is a grand arrangement of the timeless carol 'Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence'. Utilizing choir, full orchestra and organ, it is sure to please and impress performers and audience alike. At a recent performance in the Berlin Cathedral, the piece received spontaneous applause (which was a first for this kind of event).NOTE - Although originally scored for orchestra, the piece would work well with just choir and organ - in which case the fanfare sections at the beginning and the first 6 measures at letter F could be omitted. If orchestral score and parts are needed, please go to https://www.swirlymusic.org/music/choral-music/gordon-thornett-cherubic-hymn/.]

Fotheringham.Text:Help me to remember the price that has been paid.By the love of Thy pure Son, all my fears are stayed. When he suffered for all sin, felt all pain and grief,He rescued me from death and bought me sweet relief.Entering the Garden, my Savior knelt to pray.Sensing what was coming, He sought another way.Not my will, but Thine be done. Christ would bear the cost. The bitter cup, He drank it up that none be lost.Falsely jailed and tortured, He wore a crown of thorn,Shunned by all His people, left lonely and forlorn.Crucified upon a cross, nails pierced flesh and bone.He suffered more, but meekly bore the cost alone. Help me to remember my soul is not my own.Purchased with His precious blood, I kneel at His throne. When He gave His life for me, worth more than all gold. His love for me, I clearly see and I am sold.CHORUSHelp me to remember ev'ry promise I have madeTo honor and obey Him for the price He paid.

A Cappella,Christian,Classical,Praise & Worship,Religious. 14 pages. Richard St. Clair #1076970. Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.1501013). This is a Latin motet, duration about 7 minutes, on poetry by the 4th-5th century Christian poet Prudentius. The music for this motet is highly animated. The full text follows, with an English translation.Latin Text:1. English Translation:1. Christ is of our flesh; for me His death, for me His Resurrection. If in death I am dissolved, through the power of Christ I shall rise again. When Christ suffers death, when amid tears He is laid in the tomb, I behold myself; and, when restored from the tomb He again stands before me, I gaze upon God. 2. I know that in Christ my body shall arise; why bid me, then, despair? For I shall go by that same path whereby my Lord returned, death trodden neath His feet; this is my creed. 3. Then banish, my limbs, all terror; and believe that with Christ our God you shall again return; for it is He that sustains you; He will call you to join Him. Laugh at the threats of sickness, scorn the blows of fate; despise the horrors of the tomb, and follow where the risen Christ summons. -- Prudentius (348 - after 405 AD), selections from his APOTHEOSIS.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1492434 Composed by Orlando Gibbons. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Christmas,Renaissance,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1069110. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1492434). As On The Night is a song text for Christmas Day by English poet, satirist, pamphleteer, and hymn-writer George Wither (1588-1667), whose life spanned the tumultuous period in English history that included the reigns of Elizabeth I, James I, and Charles I and the continuous tension between Catholic and Protestant faith and practice. Desiring to counter the practice of exclusively using psalms as texts for congregational singing in worship, Wither published in 1623 The Hymnes and Songs of the Church, with The First Part comprehend[ing] Hymns, and such parcels of Holy Scripture, as may properly be sung, with some other ancient Songs and Creeds, and The Second Part consist[ing] of Spiritual Songs, appropriated to the several Times and Occasions observable in the Church of England. As On The Night appears in part two as a song to commemorate Christmas Day. Its first stanza is a retelling of elements of the Nativity story as found in Luke 2:7-20; its second stanza is a consideration of the Incarnation and work of Christ (Our flesh he wore, our sin to wear away; Our curse he bore, that we escape it may; And wept for us that we might sing for aye.).The music accompanying As On the Night is Song 46, one of many tunes written for Wither's collection by English composer and keyboardist Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625). As Gibbons notated only the melody and bass lines of his tunes, the harmonization in this arrangement for SATB choir and organ is largely that of The English Hymnal (1906).  ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926660 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 112 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588371. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926660). During the late spring of 2017, I began composing a new choral piece based on the 1 Timothy 3:16 text. I was studying Paul's first letter to Timothy at the time when this particular passage jumped out at me. Not only was it an efficient summary of the Gospel message, but it was also a textual grouping, or form, such as might be found in a traditional hymn. What I was reading were indeed lyrics to an actual 1st Century Hymn to Christ, the music of which has since been lost. I entitled my piece, Great is the Mystery. I composed the anthem for SATB (a cappella), and set it to the ESV translation of the scripture. Based on its context, I suspected the song would work great for Ascension Sunday. Our choir sang the piece beautifully, crescendoing at the finish to the words, Believed on in the world and taken up in glory! Later that spring, I played the piece for a dear friend of mine who is Pastor at Immanuel Church in Manchester, New Hampshire. What he told me was actually a bit stunning. He informed me that there were (at least) seven specific known Hymns to Christ written into the New Testament Scriptures, whose text is found among the writings of the apostles’ Paul and John. The 1 Timothy 3:16 verse that I had selected for my piece was indeed one of those texts. At that moment, Pastor Don and I made a pact. If he were to supply me with the literal Greek translations of the other six known Hymns to Christ, I would set out to compose brand new anthems for them all. A new musical collaboration had begun.  With this short introduction serving as the genesis of my new song cycle, I offer you these new Seven Anthems to Christ based on the seven known ancient ‘Hymns to Christ' texts found in the New Testament.

Kevin G. Pace #998076. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1416395). An epically beautiful choral composition.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Although I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and lone, Without the gift of charity, I will never own the right of oneness to be sealed to Father up above, And with my Savior, Jesus Christ, unite in perfect love.Until God distills purity, giv'n through the Holy Ghost, I'll pray with all my energy for this inner Host. Then to this Spirit I will cleave so God can live in me, And so be clothed with purest love... beloved charity. My holy conferral to love each fellowman I see comes as a gift from God above, for He first loved me. And now I'm filled with pain and more, with sorrow and with tears, All for the welfare of lost souls. I feel my Savior near.Sweet oneness within fills my heart; I feel my flesh consumed. An entity has swelled my soul and entered to bloom. For others, now, true charity can manifest my love, All given from the grace of Christ, and Father up above. bove.Chorus:Charity for humankind is my gift with love divine. One in love and one in grace promises Christ's sacred face.

Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927403). The Word became Flesh is a bold and impressive setting of the powerful words of John 1:1-14, making it suitable for all year round, yet perfect for Advent and Christmas.  Written to be achievable while slightly stretching those of a community choir level, this traditional anthem is wonderful to sing, giving both the lower and upper voices chance to shine without leaving individual parts exposed. The short repeated 'In the beginning' refrain gives an excellent structure to the piece, and the wide dynamic range climaxing with 'He has made him known' make this an engaging and and impressive concert opener.Length : 5 minutesThis piece also features in Roger's musical 'Barnabas'.This setting includes piano accompaniment and guitar chords.  A backing track and orchestral parts are available from the publisher, Christian Music Ministries - www.cmm.org.uk Peforming rights for all works by Roger Jones published by Christian Music Ministries are administered by Sovereign Music UK - sovereignmusic@aol.com

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Digital Download SKU: A0.921015 Composed by Stephen Hamlin. Contemporary,Musical/Show. Octavo. 66 pages. Stephen Hamlin #23277. Published by Stephen Hamlin (A0.921015). The Apocamish is a musical satire book telling the tale of the Gomez Family’s struggle for survival against hordes of Amish zombies. At the peak of one civilization, solar flares reached earth disrupting all the electricity. The loss of electricity however was not the worse problem. When the solar flares hit Upperton Village, the quaint peaceful Amish were mutated into wretched flesh seeking zombies thus fully transforming them into the Apocamish. Felix Gomez was among the first survivors of the Dawn of the Apocamish. For forty years he survived Apocamish tyranny of and raised a tenacious zombie killing family. In this song collection, characters sing about their trials with the Apocamish with upbeat songs like 'S.O.L. You Apocamishes', 'Now They Are Hungry Starving Monsters', 'The Key to Survive', 'Who Were They Before They Turned Into Zombies', and the 'Apocamish Apocalypse'. While other tales of apocalypses are tragic and forlorn this tale shows how life was always grand, in Apocamish Land.
