Hope of the World: 13 Feed the Flock for SlaughterĀ original song arranged for SATB choir and piano by Stephen R Dalrymple♫ sequenced by the composer♫ music Ā© 1999 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ recording ā„— 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ presentation Ā© 2024 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ based on Zechariah 11, John 10, and Matthew 27♫ The Judah of Zechariah was marred by exiles who struggled greatly to obey God’s law. Ezra, Nehemiah, Haggai and Malachi contain many passages that point out the sin of the people. Joshua, the current high priest, is pictured in one of Zechariah’s visions as wearing filthy apparel, desperately needing cleansing. Sheep in Bible times are grown more for their wool and milk, not so much for the slaughterhouse. Zechariah likens the leadership of Judah to shepherds and flock owners who are primarily concerned with selling meat. But there is a good shepherd who intervenes to lead the flock. He is mistreated by the owners and the shepherds and paid the price of a slave for his efforts. The good shepherd, casts the price on the floor for the potter.♫ Zechariah is looking ahead to a time when the religious leaders of Judah were short on compassion and the needs of people. Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd. We see several parallel’s here in John 10. He called the religious leaders of His day, thieves and robbers, and predators. Judas Iscariot was paid the price of a slave to betray Jesus, which he threw to the ground, but was scooped to purchase a Potter’s Field!♫ Includes 1) full score 2) SATB choir part on 2 staves 3) full score for 10 inch tablet♫ Ā (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. The Claims of the Son 3: I Am the Light of the Worldoriginal song for SATB choir and piano Stephen R Dalrymple♫ based on John 8 and 9♫ This collection of songs focuses on the Claims of Jesus Christ based on the ā€œI Am’s of the Gospel of John. ♫ The claim ā€œI Am the Light of the Worldā€ came from Jesus’ encounter with a man born blind. It is also found in another context – possibly at the Feast of Lights when the Temple was illuminated with a plethora of lights. With electric lights, we are used to seeing many, sometimes intense lights at night. But night light was limited in the first century to oil lamps. Light in the dark represents visibility (understanding, knowledge) safety (confidence), and the ability to navigate.  ♫ music Ā© 1999, 2022♫ recording ā„— 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ presentation Ā© 2024 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ sequenced by the composer♫ This.pdf file includes 1) full score 2) SATB choir parts on 2 staves 3) full score for 10 inch tablet. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926665 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588435. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926665). In the first chapter of Paul’s second letter to Timothy, verses 1-10, we observe the intimate relationship that exists, between a spiritual father and his son… I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. In Chapter two we also witness Paul’s commissioning Timothy to entrust to faithful men all that he was taught by the Apostle, that they then may be able to teach others in the same way also. While the elder Paul is now in prison and bound in chains, he is nonetheless empowered by the Holy Spirit to encourage and exhort Timothy to share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ, for the sake of the Gospel. Though Paul is bound in chains, he declares to Timothy the word of God is not bound! Endurance for Paul serves only one purpose, the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. In verse 11, Paul supports his statements by inserting another known 1st century Hymn to Christ, which brings us to our fifth anthem, For If We Died with Him. The text-or lyrics-of this hymn are even bracketed (or indented) in the NKJV Bible, suggesting the hymnic setting.   The proposition of the text is quite clear; if we died with Christ, then we shall also live eternally with Christ. If we endure in the faith, then we shall also reign eternally with Christ. However, there is an insertion of 'Law' here, with a dire warning that the opposite is also true: If we deny Christ, resist, and refuse His beckoning and free invitation to salvation, then He will also deny us. Not everyone who says to me ā€˜Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven… I will declare to them, ā€˜I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:31-23). Thus, the stage has been set for the fifth anthem. The piece is composed for SATB a cappella. The key is F Major. The opening phrase, This is a trustworthy saying, is in ¾ time, where a series of triplets are sung three times each (the Trinitarian opening motif). The meter then shifts to 2/4 with a lovely, distinctive unison melody for the opening phrase, For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. Soon after, when the lyrics shift to the words, If we deny Him, He will also deny us, the song drops into the relative minor key (F minor). The melody in this passage is haunting, and sends a clear warning signal to the listener to pay heed to what is being sung. When the text then transitions from if we are faithless, He remains faithful, however, the key shifts back to F Major in a new (dance-like) rhythm for the final verse, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. A coda is inserted in the final phrase where the triplet pattern is recapitulated (This is a trustworthy saying) and the sopranos ascend to a high F singing the lyrics, we shall live, for He remains faithful! to triumphantly end the piece.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933373 Composed by Michael S. Bryson. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Bryson Music #14037. Published by Bryson Music (A0.933373). SATB a capella. A chorale benediction. Duration: 1:30. I composed this choral benediction for a collegiate commencement ceremony. Like a Renaissance madrigal, this piece abounds with word painting. For instance, the opening words are derived from James 1:17 and melodically reflect the Father’s light coming down from above. The harmony of the second phrase turns constraining when quoting 2 Corinthians 5:14 concerning the love of Christ, and, in the third phrase, the voices’ movements quicken at mention of the Spirit's moving. The doxological statement God receive the glory appears three times to honor the Trinity, and, finally, the lyrics ’til He calls you home signal the return of the home key to conclude the benediction. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277132 Composed by Adrian Gagiu. 21st Century,Christian,Classical,Latin. Octavo. 128 pages. Adrian Gagiu #868444. Published by Adrian Gagiu (A0.1277132). Missa Solemnis in B major, op. 27, vocal score and piano part (for rehearsal purposes only). Based on its Neo-classical style, this setting of the Roman Catholic mass text could possibly work as a festive mass (missa solemnis) with trumpets and timpani, and its duration would fit such a solemn service. However, its intense and sometimes dramatic treatment and universal addressability due to its well-known and rather concentrated text, yet also due to eliminating the ā€žFilioqueā€ (which would still fit the rhythm of the repeated ā€žqui ex Patreā€, should any Catholics ever wish to perform this as a mass) make it rather a ā€žliturgical oratorio for all nationsā€, more appropriate in the concert hall.Ā The work has had a long gestation: imagined in 1984 after the composer’s first contact with Beethoven’s masterpiece, then sketched first in 1987-1989, and many of its themes date back from those years. Its working out is quite polyphonic, discretely modal and cyclical, and also full of centuries-old musical symbols traditionally associated with the setting of the mass text: e.g. unisons for the more dogmatical parts, Baroque dotted rhythms at the Nativity (the first coming of the Ā King of Kings), ā€žrex caelestisā€ and also at his Passion (whose setting is discretely inspired by folkloric Romanian laments), the ā€žanabasisā€ gesture at ā€žGloria in excelsis Deoā€, ā€žet ascendit in caelisā€, ā€žin remissionem peccatorumā€ and the resurrection, a flute trill standing for the Holy Spirit who has come ’like a dove’ at ā€žet incarnatus estā€, a cross-shaped texture at ā€žcrucifixusā€, and some word-painting (hushed sonorities at ā€žet invisibiliumā€, anticipations between orchestra and chorus at ā€žet exspectoā€ etc.). Moreover, certain symbolic roles are assigned to the instrumental groups when alone (the organ represents God the Father and transcendence, the winds and/or solo voices represent God the Son and humanity, and the strings represent the Holy Spirit).Ā ā€žKyrieā€ is restrained and soft, besides the powerful chords opening the respective sections of its tripartite, simple structure, and it leans towards Palestrina’s serene modality and counterpoint. ā€žGloriaā€ begins with a colorful orchestral introduction depicting discretely the shepherds who kept watch over their flocks right before the Nativity, and then gradually the bright revelation. ā€žCredoā€ has an orchestral introduction as well, but powerful, recurring and based on the beginning of the plainchant hymn ā€žPange linguaā€, made famous by Mozart’s last symphony and by other Classical composers. Both ā€žGloriaā€ and ā€žCredoā€ end with extended, powerful and elaborate fugues (ā€žin gloria Dei Patrisā€ and ā€žet vitam venturi saeculiā€, respectively) with dramatic modulations and sometimes with enthusiastic syncopations at odds with the words’ accents, a la Stravinsky. The same sections plus ā€žAgnus Deiā€ end with soft quartal harmonies suggesting transcendent appeasement (similar harmonies appear powerfully at the beginning of ā€žSanctusā€). ā€žJudicareā€ quotes the beginning of the well-known ā€žDies iraeā€ plainchant tune, and the Consecration between the ā€žSanctusā€ and ā€žBenedictusā€ sections is represented by a contemplative prelude for solo organ, quoting Lutheran chorales, too. Another long orchestral introduction, suggesting the Last Judgment and based on traditional Byzantine hymns, opens ā€žAgnus Deiā€, which includes another quotation (the famous ’Dresden Amen’ at ā€žqui tollis peccata mundiā€ and ā€ždona nobis pacemā€). In the final section, with its refined simplicity, the choral voices enter in descending order, and the ā€žKyrie eleisonā€ theme is briefly remembered, then it ends softly and peacefully.Ā Total duration: 50 min. I was inspired to write The Peace Prayer as this particular prayer has proven to be an uplifting source of strength, encouragement, and renewal throughout my life, especially in times of adversity. As there is no repetition in the words of the prayer, the piece is through-composed with a significant amount of text painting for textual emphasis: for example, the gradual building of the D major chord of the word light to paint a transformation as light dispels darkness. In the final measures, the Amen progresses from B-flat major to C major to D major, portraying hope, joy, and peace as the soul is uplifted and enlightened by the power and majesty of this incredibly inspiring prayer.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.995181 Composed by Anthony Bannach. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 17 pages. Anthony Bannach Music #4729217. Published by Anthony Bannach Music (A0.995181). A Vision of Rest is a choral piece with text set from the poem by Alexander Posey. The piece balances a choral style refrain with large amounts of independent lines and melismatic writing, and the sounds or the composition are inspired by choral pieces by composers such as Pavel Chesnikov, John Tavener, and Arvo PƤrt. The lyrics heard in the song were slightly modified to fit to the music. The original text is as follows: Some day this quest  Shall cease; Some day, For aye, This heart shall rest In peace.  Sometimes-ofttimes-I almost feel  The calm upon my senses steal,  So soft, and all but hear  The dead leaves rustle near  And sign to be At rest with me.  Though I behold  The ashen branches tossing to and fro,  Somehow I only vaguely know  The wind is rude and cold.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1109087 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 10 pages. Kevin Longley #711630. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1109087). Inspiration While I have recited the Nicene Creed countless times, in July 2021 something changed. The church had cleared the return of the choir, post pandemic, and it was my first Sunday of singing in well over a year. That Sunday as I recited the creed something happened when I reached the line ā€œAnd His Kingdom Will Have No Endā€. Was it louder? Was it spoken with greater conviction? Something was different! Maybe it was just me. I'm not sure but all I know is that every Sunday thereafter it had the same impact on me. Within a few weeks I decided to compose a choral piece about that very line. I had to! The Music For the most part the harmony and structure are traditional but do contain harmonic structures with a contemporary flair. The arrangement is refrain, verse, refrain, verse, bridge and then refrain. The first and 3rd refrains are highly similar while the second refrain contains a soprano section descant while featuring the bass's carrying the main melody. The overall intent of the music is that on every return to the refrain, it is louder than the previous refrain. This signifies the singers confidence growing, in the existence of God's Kingdom, after each verse. With that said the piece starts quietly, almost being heard from a distance. The refrain lyrics speak to the hope that we carry for God's kingdom while the verses speak to God and Jesus in a more intimate way. The bridge speaks to the strength of the Kingdom and then leads back to the opening refrain, now in double forte. The high point in the piece is reached where volume, emotion and a significant ritard occur at the phrase ā€œwe'll be togetherā€. From there the piece decreases in volume ending in a quiet confidence repeating ā€œNo end, no end, no endā€.
