Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.835786 Composed by Paul Burnell. Contemporary. Octavo. 124 pages. Paul Burnell #3405305. Published by Paul Burnell (A0.835786). Composed 2007, duration 8:30 approx. The music and text of ā€˜The Sense of a Place Will Remain’ was inspired by pictures of an early carved stone cross and a tenth-century Viking burial stone on the island of Inchcolm in Scotland. First performed by Inchcolm New Music Ensemble 29 June 2007, conductor Steve King.   Instrumentation is flexible; the following is a guide: Part 1 - Violin 1, flute 1 (doubling piccolo if possible) oboe 1, Part 2 - Violin 2, flute 2, oboe 2 (doubling tenor recorder if possible), clarinet 1, trumpet Part 3 - Viola, clarinet 2, horn in F, Eb horn (2 players doubling harmonicas in C) Part 4 - Cello, bassoon Part 5 - Double bass, bass guitar (or Cello 2 - playing as if usual bass clef, but an octave lower where possible) SATB voices (doubling metal spoons and pitch pipes) Optional:Percussion (one player) - claves, glockenspiel (could be a child’s toy instrument such as an ā€˜Angel’ glockenspiel), mark tree, spring drum (thunder shaker), frame drum, musical jewelry box (or similar clockwork device).Should a glockenspiel not be available, a special part has been created which arranges the glockenspiel for two flutes, together with the other percussion music. This special part is not visible in the score. Keyboard instrument with sustaining capability - piano sound   Instructions: Wind players can breathe ad lib. during any very long notes. From letter D onwards non-wind players who are not soloists blow across the top of small bottles. The pitches produced are not specified, but they should not be shrill. A soft breathy tone is preferred. About half of the voices play pairs of metal spoons (share printed part between two singers and anyone not holding the music holds metal spoons). Hold the spoons one in each hand, and strike the larger ends together. Spoons are struck together where shown with a large patterned note head. Strike rapidly where a tremolo sign is given. Four singers play pitch tuning pipes: 1 Soprano and 1 Alto play viola/cello pitch tuning pipes, 1 Tenor and 1 Bass play violin pitch tuning pipes Pitch pipe playing is indicated with square note heads - player should breathe ad lib. during very long notes. Where there are very long sung notes, the singers may stagger breathing ad lib. Spoken sounds are indicated with x note heads and with the text in italics. There are many pauses. These can be of varying duration, but on the whole they should not hold up the momentum of the piece, but be of sufficient duration to establish the solo and pitch pipe notes.   Text: Carve stone Strike out Stay at home Or go far alone. Blocks of stone are laid Emblazoned with the signs of great deeds That signify our memory, Mem’ries of who we are. Careful carvings erode through time, Chiseled grooves smooth away. Families, they scatter and fade As generations age Descendants pass on memory time. Sense of our allegiance shifts when major faults are found, Feelings of belonging fall on shaky ground, But the sense of a place will remain.

SATB choir, flute and piano (ad lib.) - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.7540-E Composed by Derek Healey. Instrument part. 9 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #7540-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.7540-E). English. These songs are dedicated to William Osborne. The title Three Sacred Songs: was given to these pieces rather than the more usual terms anthem or motet because of the strongly secular presence in the texts. The songs were written over a period of some eighteen months. The Shepherd Lad was finished on February 29, 2008. The Round Day and Magdalene’s Song were completed in Brooklyn on June 11, 2009, the music having been originally sketched-out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2008, at Putnam Valley, New York. In the first song, The Round Day, the singer hears the voice of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she sings to the glory of God throughout the day. The text was written on June 7, 2008. In The Shepherd Lad, the Spanish mystic Saint John of the Cross describes a shepherd lad’s (Jesus’s) love for a shepherdess (the Church) and how another (the Devil) tempted his love away. Heartbroken, the shepherd climbed a tree, ā€œAnd threw wide his arms in sweetest charity, Since by His Shepherdess He was forsaken.ā€ The original Spanish text was translated and adapted into Villanelle form by the composer in early December 2004. The text of Magdalene’s Song describes the feelings of a mystic, or a devotee of Jesus, inspired by the fresh beauty, grace and power of the Lord of creation. The main body of the text is given to a soprano solo. The text was written on April 27, 2008. These sacred songs were conceived as being performed either as a set or individually. The composer had secular ensembles in mind, such as college or concert choruses, but these songs may, of course, also be performed in a liturgical setting. The accompanying flute provides introductions, interludes and codas throughout the set and, on a few occasions, plays with the voices. The piano part is ad lib. (optional).

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808672 Composed by Johannes Brahms (1833–1897). Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Contemporary,Easter,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 38 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #3046205. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808672). Brahms composed Ein deutsches Requiem, nach Worten der heiligen Schrift, his longest composition, during the period, 1865-1868. For the libretto, he eschewed the Latin text of the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass, using instead verses he chose from the German-language Luther Bible. Thus, it was A German Requiem. The Roman Church’s Requiem Mass begins with prayers for the dead; Brahms, on the other hand, chose to console the living and framed his first movement around the second of the Beatitudes, Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Ā The first movement is, indeed, comforting, filled with warmth and beauty. This arrangement retains Brahms’ original choral parts and translates the orchestral accompaniment to the five quietly playing brass instruments. The audio sample was digitally created, so the choral part of the arrangement can be heard but without words. This arrangement was completed in 2017 and runs about 10 minutes, 32 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, can be reached at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the search box. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032091 By Naughty Boy Featuring Emeli Sande. By Emeli Sande, Harry Craze, and Hugo Chegwin. Arranged by Julian Hay. A Cappella,Contemporary,Pop,Soul. Octavo. 7 pages. Julian Hay #6024773. Published by Julian Hay (A0.1032091). This arrangement was commissioned for, and premiered by, Voices Co. Pop A Cappella Academy, with an ensemble of 20 voices. It is versatile and catchy, and has also been performed by our Vocal Bands with one voice per part, as well as our Kids A Cappella class. This arrangement has a gospel vibe (complete with a shout chorus), but with the groove of the original track provided by the addition of rhythm and bass.VOCAL LAYOUT:The melody, or lead line, is divided amongst the vocal parts to give variety. The B.G (background) parts replicate the instrumental accompaniment of the original track, filling out the arrangement and creating the contemporary texture that is at the heart of Pop A Cappella. When it's performed, it should be heavy on the rhythm and bass! The Rhythm (Beatbox) and Bass should be a feature, and they provide the arrangement with the groove and vibe it needs. The dynamics give an indication which vocal parts should be strongest at any given moment, but changes may need to be made depending on the number / balance of singers, and the strengths of each vocal section. As a general rule, the melody or lead should be strongest, followed by any harmony parts (those with lyrics), followed by any background parts (Mmm's / Dmm's, etc). The full arrangement is scored for SATB including clicking, clapping and Vocal Percussion (beatboxing). The song also works as SAT and could be transposed into a higher key to be delivered by a treble ensemble.RHYTHM & BASS:This Beatboxing part is suitable for beginners, and is made up of groupings of patterns. Specific Beatboxing notes are included in their own section within the Beatboxing score. If your ensemble is without a low bass or a beatboxer you could consider the following options.- Use electric bass guitar playing the bass part- Use a drum kit or drum box (Cajon)- Use a piano to provide some simple background accompanimentAlways click and clap on the off beats (2 and 4).PERSONAL ASSISTANCE:If you need any assistance please don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly, we'd be happy to reply to any questions via email, or you can also book in a 1:1 consultation between your M.D and Julian Hay, or a Zoom workshop with your ensemble for specific feedback:E.  hello@voicesco.nzW.  www.voicesco.nz

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1016896 By Lady Gaga. By Nadir Khayat and Stefani Germanotta. Arranged by Rangel MalavƩ. Pop. Octavo. 43 pages. Rangel Malave #5968447. Published by Rangel Malave (A0.1016896). This is an rhythmic arrangement of Bad Romance by Lady Gaga for choir SATB, two soloists and optional beatbox. I focused in capturing the rhythmic and kinda sexy feel of the original arrangement. The first and second soloist can be, respectively, a female and male, but any singer with the aproppiate vocal range of each part can play it. It's up to the players or the conductor.Note: In the audio sample, the vocal parts sound like strings. This is because a used these instruments to making the digital arrangement, taking advantage of the pizzicato sound to imitate certain vocal sounds that couldn't be written using the choir instrument.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1093534 By The Singers Unlimited. By Gene Puerling. Arranged by Gene Puerling. A Cappella,Contemporary,Jazz. Octavo. 11 pages. University of North Texas - Gene Puerling Collection #697595. Published by University of North Texas - Gene Puerling Collection (A0.1093534). This wordless, instrumentally-inspired piece was composed in May 1979 by Gene Puerling and recorded by The Singers Unlimited on their album ā€œA Cappella IIIā€ (and contained in the ā€œMagic Voicesā€ box set). This is NOT a transcription, but an authentic edition created from the handwritten manuscript of Gene Puerling. The influence of Chick Corea is found in the simple repetitive harmonies and driving rhythms. Two vocalists are featured melodically throughout the piece (with melodic line inspired by Chuck Mangione, thus the mash-up name in the title!), with up to six parts in the ensemble vocal parts. More accessible than many other Puerling charts, this piece gives lots of opportunity to work on ensemble tuning and rhythmic vitality! Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.984532 Composed by English Carol circa 1780. Arranged by Tito Abeleda. Christmas,Hip-Hop. Octavo. 117 pages. Visionary Quest Records #4764463. Published by Visionary Quest Records (A0.984532). Drum Set, Voice, SATB, SAB, TTBB, Tubular Chimes - Intermediate - Digital Download Male Rap Soloist, SSTB, TTBB, Studio Drum Set, Chimes. Female Beat-box option, Male Beat-box option. I wanted to add some fun and swag to an old Christmas Carol Classic. So, I composed this new re-imagined rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas as a Holiday Hip-Hop Rap choral piece. This is a new dope hip-hop arrangement of the 1780 English Carol Christmas Carol 12 Days of Christmas. It has been modified completely in style, genre, instrumentation, and presentation. Musically, it has also been arranged completely as a hip-hop rap song with appropriate clean urban flavor with solo rap, choral rap support and audience participation with claps and stomps done by audience and choral members, plus rhythm supplied by drum set with deep hip-hop rhythm, plus female beat-box, and male beat-box musical options included if choral director chooses to add that additional hip-hop flavor, plus tubular chime instrument used throughout to provide haunting holiday hip-hop flavor on the DL. The lyrics are clean and suitable for high school choral groups. Additional support lyrics are added to support rap soloist. The tempo and style have been changed to Cool Swag with quarter = 110. Overall, this is a new fun re-imagined rendition of an old classic that high school students and their audiences should also find quite enjoyable. Choreographer should also find this to be a refreshing new project to choreograph.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828279 By Bruno Mars. By Bruno Mars, Charles Wilson, Devon Gallaspy, Jeff Bhasker, Lonnie Simmons, Mark Ronson, Nicholaus Williams, Philip Lawrence, Robert Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, and Rudolph Taylor. Arranged by Greg Link. A Cappella. Octavo. 11 pages. Greg Link #6370793. Published by Greg Link (A0.828279). The Grammy Award winning song 'Uptown Funk' is one of the most popular tracks of the past decade. This upbeat, fun arrangement is written for a cappella SATB and incorporates a punchy accompaniment underneath the popular melody, utilising a cappella effects and instrument imitation, encouraging blend and confident song delivery. This arrangement is ideal for high school choirs or a cappella groups interested in exploring a song which is both fun to perform and great to listen to as an audience member. There are also some opportunities to add beatboxing to this arrangement and some basic suggestions are incorporated into the score. The song works equally well as an energised encore, an effective opener, or as part of a pop set.Arranged by Greg Link, a London-based professional singer, arranger and workshop leaderDuration: 1:30
