Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074352 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 32 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #678653. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1074352). PROGRAM NOTES As of the present writing, this choral tone poem had been gestating for over thirty years, and the concept and harmonies for it for over forty years. In the 1980s I began to work with the latter two in my brief orchestral piece Little Sea Nocturne. When reading the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849), I am most struck by how musical they are. When recited aloud they exhibit their own rhythmic sense. I was eager to incorporate those rhythms into my music. I had long been familiar with his poem The City In the Sea and began to sketch choral passages for the present choral tone poem in the 1990s. It took me until 2022 to complete it because I required many more years of experience at my craft to do so to lead into out of the choruses. In 2012 I completed a seven-minute unaccompanied version of the choruses with music unique to and unifying it simply called The City In the Sea. In composing The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem, my goal was to write a piece that, while steeped in tradition, sounds unlike anything in the literature that had come before it. The result is an original hybrid work that successfully and memorably combines salient aspects of the tonal, atonal, and modal musical languages into an organic whole. George Perle coined the term “twelve-tone tonality†to describe the music of Alban Berg and composers influenced by him such as Luigi Dallapiccola. The last title of which I am aware that accomplishes anything remotely related to what I am trying to accomplish musically in this choral tone poem is the piece Paradiso Choruses by Donald Martino (1974). However, I take twelve-tone tonality in entirely other directions in my work. That the duration of The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem came out to be thirteen minutes seems appropriate for piece about a sunken city. Rather than write program notes that narrate how the music unfolds I will simply shout out the most memorable aspects of what careful listeners will discern: a recurring heartbeat motif; shifting polychordal harmonies; echo technique; rhythmic diminutions and augmentations; an a cappella chorus featuring those harmonies with a surprisingly memorable recuring theme on top; sensuous flute duets; string section underpinnings by way of either sustained passages or wave-like gestures; tritone-related melodies, harmonies, and tone centers; several strategically placed grand pauses; tritone-related modal-sounding passages; melodic and chord clusters, especially the two climactic ones. INSTRUMENTATION 2 Flutes (2. doubles on Piccolo) 2 Oboes (2. doubles on English Horn) 2 Bb Clarinets 2 Bassoons 2 F Horns 2 C Trumpets 2 Trombones Tuba Timpani Percussion (Gong, Bass Drum, Chimes, Glockenspiel) Harp Strings DURATION 13:00 Stanley M. Choral Choir (Mixed) - Digital Download SKU: A0.921015 Composed by Stephen Hamlin. Contemporary,Musical/Show. Octavo. 66 pages. Stephen Hamlin #23277. Published by Stephen Hamlin (A0.921015). The Apocamish is a musical satire book telling the tale of the Gomez Family’s struggle for survival against hordes of Amish zombies. At the peak of one civilization, solar flares reached earth disrupting all the electricity. The loss of electricity however was not the worse problem. When the solar flares hit Upperton Village, the quaint peaceful Amish were mutated into wretched flesh seeking zombies thus fully transforming them into the Apocamish. Felix Gomez was among the first survivors of the Dawn of the Apocamish. For forty years he survived Apocamish tyranny of and raised a tenacious zombie killing family. In this song collection, characters sing about their trials with the Apocamish with upbeat songs like 'S.O.L. You Apocamishes', 'Now They Are Hungry Starving Monsters', 'The Key to Survive', 'Who Were They Before They Turned Into Zombies', and the 'Apocamish Apocalypse'. While other tales of apocalypses are tragic and forlorn this tale shows how life was always grand, in Apocamish Land.

Morley #5044269. Published by G. M. Morley (A0.500704). This fun little love song comes from Vampire Weekend's fourth album, Father of the Bride, released in early 2019. The original is a duet featuring the female vocals of Danielle Haim.Writer, Ezra Koenig has said of the song I always wanted to do a song that was insanely simple, that was just listing things that go together... It's probably the most wholesome Vampire Weekend song.Although the simplicity of the original song remains, there are some challenging arpeggio's and runs for soprano and alto parts in the latter half of the piece. This version is suitable for weddings and pop or community choir performances. If you would like to contact me about this arrangement or would like to request something specific, please message me via my page: https://www.facebook.com/GMMorleyMusic/ If you perform this piece, I'd love to hear from you.

Published by Marilena Zlatanou (A0.1343529). BYZANTINE HYMN: O THRINOS TIS ALOSEOS: Lament over the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 (after Simon Karas) arranged for soloist and SATB choirConstantinople (ΚωνταντινοÏπολη=Constantin's City), had been the capital of the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) empire from 330 until 1453, when it fell to the Ottomans. It continued then as the capital of the Ottoman empire, and has since 1930 been called Istanbul, the Turkish understanding of the sound of Greek: Stin Poli (= to the City). This Hymn survived in the Greek Orthodox Church and has both a secular and a religious character, as it records the end of the 1100 years glorious era, as well as it is lamenting the religious restrictions the Greek Orthodox Church was subjected to as a result of the Islamic Occupation. The content of the text is the praising of the brave heroes who fought to protect Constantinople, under emperor Constantin, against the invading forces of the Ottomans. duration: 2'25'' Phonetic transcription in the Latin alphabet is notated right below the original Greek text, English translation, and a key to Greek Pronunciation are provided on the title page. The mp3 file provided is exported from the sibelius file. For more information on the arranger, (member of TONO, the Norwegian copyright org.), please visit website www.zlatanou.netAs a Greek living in Norway for most of my adult life, and in my many years’ work as a conductor of a Norwegian choir specializing in Greek music (!), I have experienced the need to enrich the choir’s repertoire with both folk song- as well as other -arrangements of Greek music: This gave me the opportunity to share with our audiences some of the centuries-long musical heritage, as well as helping me make known to them some of the History behind the music of a country of such international historical influence in the past, and such a tourist magnet in our times.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011001 Composed by Timothy Lopez. Baroque,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 1 pages. Timothy Lopez #2951497. Published by Timothy Lopez (A0.1011001). It's time for the annual purge and this is the year to stop it. A group of freedom fighters collect those against the purge and make a run for it. The freedom fighters do everything possible to protect their followers. They withstand a night in the middle of nowhere fighting off the wilderness and the few purgers who slipped into the group. When they arrive back to civilization they are heartbroken to see that their runaway wasn't enough to prevent the city from falling along with the innocent lives who couldn't make it out. This is a hymn for the fallen, this is a hymn for the collapse of civilization.

Christian,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Leatherman Music Services #806569. Published by Leatherman Music Services (A0.1208460). This well-loved text is set here to the sturdy MELITA tune (perhaps more often associated with Eternal Father, Strong to Save) and arranged for SATB choir with piano accompaniment. Due to the relative scarcity of men in many church choirs, I have also arranged it for SSAB choir, and you will find that edition posted separately. Either edition would work well on those occasions when a big festival choir piece is called for.
