Stefano Maria Torchio: Crux mundi benedictio
A powerful and suggestive hymn for mixed Choir and Organ up to 8 voices and all the available colours of Organ stops, whispered voices and harmonies. Composed in 2007 for the International Competition for Sacred Composition of Diocesi di Faenza - Modigliana, this wide breathed piece is the second of a couple of hymns in honor of S. Apollinare and is very suitable for Choir Concerts, expecially in the Church and for liturgical pourpose. It's majestic and articulated and explores the various possibilities of wide Choir and well fournished Organ, smooth and coloured voicing (also whispered) and chord grouping. One of the pourpose is that the accompaignement is not only a simple harmonic sustain but a richer one (almost like an orchestral one), which dialogues with Choir part.
