Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308788 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. 11 pages. Tobi Crawford #898034. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1256869). A gentle setting for chorus and keyboard, rich in melody and harmony, of Dorothy Parker's poem. The things she knew, let her forget again-The voices in the sky, the fear, the cold,The gaping shepherds, and the queer old menPiling their clumsy gifts of foreign gold.Let her have laughter with her little one;Teach her the endless, tuneless songs to sing,Grant her her right to whisper to her sonThe foolish names one dare not call a king.Keep from her dreams the rumble of a crowd,The smell of rough-cut wood, the trail of red,The thick and chilly whiteness of the shroudThat wraps the strange new body of the dead.Ah, let her go, kind Lord, where mothers goAnd boast his pretty words and ways, and planThe proud and happy years that they shall knowTogether, when her son is grown a man.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.914719 Composed by Annie Routley. 20th Century,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 9 pages. Annie Routley #4301147. Published by Annie Routley (A0.914719). This is the full score - piano accompaniment, drum and SATB choir.  A choir score is available separately  This carol is designed to be very easy to learn and perform.  It needs to be accompanied by piano (simple part) and drum (no snare).  A bodhran or cajon would work just as well.  There is one minor-key tune for both the men and ladies to learn.  (This works as a 4-part round later in the carol)  Â·        The men start, accompanied just by the piano ostinato.  The drum doesn’t enter until bar 7, when the men finish their ‘drums drumming’  Â·        While the ladies sing verse 2, the men sing ‘Drum, drum’ in consecutive 5ths.  NB, the melody is slightly different at the end of the ladies’ verse, since the words ‘poor and lowly stable’ need the melody to come down rather than go up  Â·        Then the ladies sing the ‘Drum, drum’ 5ths whilst the men sing verse 3  Â·        Everyone sings verse 4 in unison and joyously  Â·        Everyone then sings verse 4 twice in a round – basses, altos, tenors then sopranos  Â·        Everyone repeats the last line of verse 4 ‘The child we’ve waited for is born …’ together (the piano and drum cut out so that the voices are unaccompanied in bar 35 – and then resume for bar 36)  Â·        ‘O hear the angels singing’ (unaccompanied) – then a loud chord and drum on beat 3 of the last bar Enjoy!  A high-definition video of the carol is available on YouTube – type in ‘Carol of the Wise Men – CMM Choir’ and select the picture with the choir ladies in white blouses and red scarves

Fotheringham.Text:Let all ye mountains and valleys cry aloud And all ye seas and dry land shout it out. Let all the dead speak forth anthems of praise For the Lord in His glory shall open the graves. Then shall the righteous remember and see; For the prisoners shall surely go free.Sun, moon, and stars sing together to our Lord All sons of God shout for joy at His Word. Let all creation remember His name, Since the day that He made them, He still is the same; Purging our stains when from darkness we flee, For the prisoners shall surely go free. What do we hear in the gospel we receive? Voices of truth to the souls who believe, Angels of God crying truth is restored, Ancient words rising from the dust as the prophets implored, Line upon line heard in grand harmony For the prisoners shall surely go free.

Composed 2007, duration 8:30 approx. The music and text of ‘The Sense of a Place Will Remain’ was inspired by pictures of an early carved stone cross and a tenth-century Viking burial stone on the island of Inchcolm in Scotland. This special part is not visible in the score. Keyboard instrument with sustaining capability - piano sound   Instructions: Wind players can breathe ad lib. during any very long notes. From letter D onwards non-wind players who are not soloists blow across the top of small bottles. The pitches produced are not specified, but they should not be shrill. A soft breathy tone is preferred. About half of the voices play pairs of metal spoons (share printed part between two singers and anyone not holding the music holds metal spoons). Hold the spoons one in each hand, and strike the larger ends together. Spoons are struck together where shown with a large patterned note head. Strike rapidly where a tremolo sign is given. Four singers play pitch tuning pipes: 1 Soprano and 1 Alto play viola/cello pitch tuning pipes, 1 Tenor and 1 Bass play violin pitch tuning pipes Pitch pipe playing is indicated with square note heads - player should breathe ad lib. during very long notes. Where there are very long sung notes, the singers may stagger breathing ad lib. Spoken sounds are indicated with x note heads and with the text in italics. There are many pauses. These can be of varying duration, but on the whole they should not hold up the momentum of the piece, but be of sufficient duration to establish the solo and pitch pipe notes.   Text: Carve stone Strike out Stay at home Or go far alone. Blocks of stone are laid Emblazoned with the signs of great deeds That signify our memory, Mem’ries of who we are. Careful carvings erode through time, Chiseled grooves smooth away. Families, they scatter and fade As generations age Descendants pass on memory time. Sense of our allegiance shifts when major faults are found, Feelings of belonging fall on shaky ground, But the sense of a place will remain.

And Yahweh loved him;] [1 Kings 2:1-4 - Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying: 2 I go the way of all the earth; be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; 3 and keep the charge of Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and whithersoever you turn yourself; 4 that Yahweh establish His word which He spoke concerning me, saying: ‘If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee, said He, a man on the throne of Israel.’] BATHSHEBA becomes pregnant again and DAVID a son, SOLOMON is born to them [The Kingdom has a New Son – Elders]. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719738 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573123. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719738). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have mostly elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. (See below for more comment on the texts in this set.) There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This set was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522294 Composed by PAUL A. AND MARCIA L. JORG. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. Christian,Gospel,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Paul A. Jorg #2027759. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522294). The following scriptures support the fact that God is a musician. He not only composes, but He SINGS! God composed a song which He gave to Moses to teach the children of Israel - The Song of Moses. Deut. 31:19 Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it....... The first lines of the song go like this: Deut. 32:1-4 Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. This song will be sung by the redeemed in heaven! Revelation 15:2,3 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. AND GOD SINGS! Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with SINGING. I WANT TO BE THERE TO HEAR GOD SINGING UP IN GLORY!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915680 Composed by Richard Joseph Barber. Classical,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. Barber Music Company #3023247. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915680). Words by St. Ambrose of Milan (c340–397), tr. by John Henry Newman.Set to music and arranged by Richard Joseph Barber for Rev. Jason Parker, High Country Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO.Composer's note:This is a joyous call to prayer (especially morning prayer). The music reminds me of little children skipping with glee under a bright blue morning sky. It needs to be sung with joy in the Lord, Who hears us when we call, forgives our sins, and gives us grace to love Him, keep his commands and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. It should be a wonder morning service anthem, but why not try it in the evening, too, in anticipation of meeting God at the beginning of the next day.  The key to the style of this piece is rhythmic vitality.  The 6/8 meter should be conducted in two, but singers (and the conductor) must feel the eighth note division of the beat as the composition's energizing rhythmic subtext. After the choir has learned the words, pitches and rhythms of the piece, have them let the text go for awhile, and replace it with the syllable doo for every eighth note value. That is, for every eighth note sing 'doo once; for every quarter note sing it twice; for every dotted quarter note sing it three times, and so on. You will hear some giggling from your singers. That is okay.  They will have some fun, and you will hear definite improvement. RJB (barberpianoserv@gmail.com).

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1184274 By Traditional. By Traditional. Arranged by Jay Jordan. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Octavo. 9 pages. Pro Creations Music #783989. Published by Pro Creations Music (A0.1184274). Irish/Scottish folk singing is a wonderful tradition spanning hundreds of years and includes subjects ranging from romance to resistance. Many songs were created and subsequently preserved in pubs and other informal gatherings.  Will You Go, Lassie, Go, also known as Wild Mountain Thyme, is basically a love song. The imagery comes alive, however, if one has had the pleasure of seeing in person the blooming heather (another alternate title) mentioned in the lyrics. When in bloom, it blankets hillsdises with it's distinctive purple hue. Heather was also used extensively in the process of thatching, roofs, a process that continues to this day. Though more difficult to work with than some other plants, there is a movement to preserve heather thatching. This arrangement is for SATB choir with piano accompaniment and features a female soloist at the beginning and the end. Your choir will love singing this accessible arrangement.
