“Dream a Little Dream of Me†was written right at the end of the jazz age, during the beginning of Depression-era America in 1930 by the creative team of Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt with text by Gus Kahn.  It is probably best known, by this generation, with Mama Cass Elliot’s singing ‘this lovely ballad’.  This arrangement of a timeless, standard in the Great American Songbook is for 4-part SATB ensemble to be performed a cappella.  Performance time: 2:48+-.

By The Mamas And The Papas. By John Phillips. Arranged by Fabian Huss. 20th Century,Folk,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. 8 pages. ChoralLines #721942. Published by ChoralLines (A0.1120693).

SATB choir (without divisis) and piano. A beautiful, flowing arrangement of the Mamas and & Papas' classic 'Monday, Monday'. This arrangement stays true to the stunning harmonies of the original, adapted for choral singing. An enjoyable and manageable arrangement, with the contrasting 'every other day' sections being slightly more challenging.

Rehearsal tracks are available on YouTube (the soprano part is linked above, the other parts can be found via the video description). A full recording can also be found there.

By The Mamas And The Papas. By John Phillips and Michelle Phillips. Arranged by Eric Weber. 20th Century,A Cappella,Folk,Pop,Rock. 4 pages. Eric Weber #963582. Published by Eric Weber (A0.1378871).

California Dreamin' is a number one hit from John and Michelle Phillips (who were members of the folk group the New Journeymen, which later evolved into the Mamas and the Papas). Originally written in C#-minor this version transposed to C-minor to make it easier for you to follow (for example on the piano). You can accompany it with the piano using the chords given above or let your choir sing A-capella. The special part about this arrangement is the constant change of melody between the different voices. The iconic flute solo is not included in this arrangement but can be simply added between the second chorus and the Dal Segno. So take this simple arrangement, which is easy to sing but interesting to hear with you and send your audience to sunny California...
