SATB choir unaccompanied - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8252-E Composed by Robert Lehman. Magnificat/Nunc Dimittis, Annunciation, 21st Century. Octavo. 20 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 15 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8252-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8252-E). UPC: 600313482526. English. Luke 1:46-55; Luke 2:29-32.There is a strong and enduring relationship that has been forged between the Roman Catholic Benedictine Abbey of St. Mary and St. Louis, and the Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George in St. Louis, Missouri. Each season, the monks visit and sing Vespers at the church and, in turn, the Choir of the Church of St. Michael & St. George travels to the Abbey to sing Evensong. This setting of the evening canticles was composed for one such visit. The stunning acoustics of the Abbey Church are captured fully by the its slow harmonic motion and expansive writing.Duration: 6:15.

SATB chorus - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1406 Composed by Sofia Söderberg. Christian. Octavo. 8 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1406. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1406). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.Music based on Gregorian themes. In the autumn of 2015, Malmo Live Vokalensemble performed Thierry Machuel's Paroles contre l'oubli - words against oblivion. In a large-scale art project, prisoners serving a life sentence at the Clairvaux high-security prison in north-eastern France were interviewed by the composer, who set their stories to music. The piece is incredibly dark, coloured by the innermost thoughts of individuals who know they will never again be free, people who are slipping into oblivion. Clairvaux wasn't always a prison, though - it was formerly an important monastery. Established by St. Bernhard in 1115 and closed in connection with the French Revolution, Clairvaux is a mythic place. For some, it is an abbey where thousands of monks voluntarily chose the path of saints, plunging themselves into the blessed silence of darkness. For others, it is a prison, the sheer name of which inspires terror and generates horrific images. My intention was that we, with our concert, would create a bridge between the present and the past, between incarceration and voluntary solitude. So I sought out the historical sources for our earliest notated music, from the French abbey of Solemn, and composed a variety of versions based on Gregorian themes. Kyrie and Agnus Dei are two of them. - Sofia Soderberg.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1119318 Composed by Anon. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. A Cappella,Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance,Traditional. Octavo. 5 pages. Monkspath Music #720733. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1119318). Gaudete! is Christmas carol, believed to originate from the 16th Century. It was published widely in 1582 in the collection of sacred songs known as Piae Cantiones. Whilst the plainchant for the refrain (Gaudete) is clearly published, but there is much debate as to where the melody for the verses came from. Whilst many arrangements and publications include both the refrain and verses in Latin, I have opted here for verses in English, giving flexibility for your performance, and the choice of either language to perform in. Likewise, the voice for the verses is unspecified, leaving it to be sung by any member of the choir. This version is suitable for choirs of any level, especially those who desire an easily legible and flexible arrangement, ready for a Christmas concert, carol service, or other event. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1215879 Composed by Arthur Ager. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship. Octavo. 6 pages. Monkspath Music #812573. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1215879). James Arthur Ager (1867-1947) was a British composer, organist, and music educator. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music in London under Hubert Parry and Frederick Bridge. Ager served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Andrew's Church in Birmingham for over 50 years. Ager also became Professor of Organ & Harmony at the Birmingham and Midland Institute School of Music (the predecessor of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) for nearly four decades. Although not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, Ager's music, including a variety of songs, choral, piano, and organ works, is worth exploring for those interested in late 19th and early 20th-century music. Perhaps his most famous composition is The Legend of St. Christopher, a cantata based on the medieval legend. Rejoicing is a beautiful hymn for SATB choir, which would be perfect for any number of concerts, festal days and services, such as Easter, Harvest, Earth Day, or for any suitable occasion. The register for all voices is suitable and accessible, making it an ideal addition to any choir’s repertoire. This version (in the original key of A major) has been re-engraved for both SATB short score, and long score – giving your choir the flexibility you may need. The short score has been kept as close to the original as possible, whilst the long score features some suggested extra dynamic markings. A PDF scan of the original publication is available via email request. For further pieces, view the Monkspath Music catalogue and click here!
