Hope Publishing - Digital #C5571DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.C5571DP). J. Paul Williams. Matthew 26:36 - Matthew 26:37 - Matthew 26:38 - Matthew 26:39 - Matthew 26:40 - Matthwe:26:41 - Matthew 26:42 - Mark 14:32 - Mark 14:33 - Mark 14:34 - Mark 14:35 - Mark 14:36 - Luke 22:39 - Luke 22:40 - Luke 22:41 - Luke 22:42 - Luke.Original Anthem Perfect for Maundy Thursday, this stirring anthem depicts the events from Matthew 26 as Jesus prayed in the garden with his friends at his side. J. Paul Williams' words and Vicki Tucker Courtney's original music combine to portray this familiar story in a passion-filled musical setting, as Jesus accepted his Father's will and was betrayed even in the midst of what was a peaceful scene. The last line of the piece speaks of the Garden not as a place of struggle, which it was, but also as a place of victory. The optional harp part adds an element of beautiful serenity and power, building throughout. The reproducible flute part is included in the anthem.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522294 Composed by PAUL A. AND MARCIA L. JORG. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. Christian,Gospel,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Paul A. Jorg #2027759. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522294). The following scriptures support the fact that God is a musician. He not only composes, but He SINGS! God composed a song which He gave to Moses to teach the children of Israel - The Song of Moses. Deut. 31:19 Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it....... The first lines of the song go like this: Deut. 32:1-4 Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. This song will be sung by the redeemed in heaven! Revelation 15:2,3 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. AND GOD SINGS! Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with SINGING. I WANT TO BE THERE TO HEAR GOD SINGING UP IN GLORY!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953621 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Celtic,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 19 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #4807817. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953621). One of the most powerful passages in scripture set to music! Good length for an anthem, interesting and idiomatic use of flute and harp, nice mix of beautiful melodic passages and crunchy bits!A Setting of Philippians 2:5-11 from New Revised Standard VersionFor SATB chorus, flute, and clĆ rsach (Scottish lever harp) or harp or pianoDuration approximately 5:00 The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 2:5-11 (NRSV)*Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. *New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright Ā© 1989 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved.Composed by Adrienne Inglis in 2014 and premiered in 2014 in Austin, Texas, by the Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, In Heaven and on Earth for SATB chorus, flute, and clĆ rsach, draws inspiration from the tune Love is the Cause of my Mourning from The Caledonian Pocket Companion Book 1, p. 27. The piece opens with the tune altered to G mixolydian mode. As the word exploited appears, a sinister-sounding E flat enters the harmony. Open octaves between soprano and bass show the emptying, followed by a shift to E phrygian mode with the word slave. Several dissonances emerge as the narrative gets darker. The flute and clĆ rsach represent chaos or hell with an aleatoric interlude of extended techniques involving tongue rams, flutter tonguing, multiphonics, spoken syllables, and lever glissandi. The harp then joyfully proclaims the new tonality of G major in a fanfare to introduce the text of praise and exaltation. The original source tune returns harmonically restored to G major.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.973048 Composed by Francis Kayali. 20th Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 19 pages. Francis Kayali #6230277. Published by Francis Kayali (A0.973048). The Gift to Sing is a poem by James Weldon Johnson (1871-1938) published in 1917. The central theme of the text is one of optimism and resilience, using the power of song ā€“ meaning, more broadly, art or any kind of artful, heightened expression ā€“ to overcome adversity. Although the poem can be interpreted broadly to pertain to any kind of struggle, it is likely that Johnson, as a civil-rights activist was alluding more specifically to the oppression African-Americans in the United States, a struggle that continues to this day, in 2020. I composed this setting in September of 2020, right after the Black Lives Matter protests that took place that summer, so current events played a role in this interpretation on my part as well. If one reads the poem as pertaining the continued struggle of African Americans, some passages may come across as ambiguous. For instance, I brood not over the broken past should not be taken as suggesting that the horrors of the past should be forgotten, but as an injunction that the memory of these horrors should not discourage us or diminish our resolve to work toward overcoming the injustices. The musical inspiration for the opening of the piece comes from the song Lonesome Valley, which starts with a pentatonic melodic gesture. The pentatonic scale is often used in African American Spirituals, Christian hymns, and folksongs (e.g., Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Amazing Grace, How Can I Keep from Singing?, Red River Valley, Oh Shenandoah). The more rhythmic parts take inspiration from the African-American spiritual tradition, as found for instance in the choral music of Moses Hogan (1957-2003). Meanwhile, the tenor solo at the end, is intended to be very loud, bright, and without the pronounced vibrato one would find in a Western operatic style. This kind of bright and intense vocal sound is not unfamiliar to most listeners, who may have encountered it in places as varied as Sacred Harp singing, the opening of the Lion King soundtrack, or the Muslim call to prayer.
