Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935511 Composed by Shaun Parry. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Traditional. Octavo. 7 pages. MusicforMillions #4994317. Published by MusicforMillions (A0.935511). Written in the style of classic Christmas carols with fun, memorable melody and lyrics, this new Christmas song will quickly become a part of everyone's caroling canon. By and large, Christmas music is either sacred or secular, about Jesus, Mary, the shepherds and angels or about presents and parties and Santa Claus. We live them both simultaneously. This carol represents that, with the first verse being a patter of excitement and the second more lyrical, focusing on the Advent of the Savior. Then, just as in life, they are sung together, complimenting each other. We end in unison with a glorious and memorable refrain Nativity mangers make friends out of strangers with peace on earth, good will to all men. * Bells/Chimes sound beautiful but it can also be performed with just piano and the voices singing the bell parts.* Perfect of school or church Christmas concerts or caroling. Also great for families around the fireplace or out Christmas caroling. * Written to be sung by two groups, however, there is a cut version (explained in print) that does not require splitting in two groups. It can be sung straight through without overlapping the verses. * Some harmony parts are indicated in the vocal line. Of course you can sing just the melody in unison all the way through, but there are ample opportunities to break out into fun 2,3 and (in some places) 4-part harmonies. Up to you. You can find me at @the_shaunparry or www.shaunparry.com

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774722 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 16 pages. Sandra Milliken #3863763. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774722). Brisbane Ladies, sometimes known as Augathella Station, is an Australian folk song based on an English naval song titled Spanish Ladies. The song probably dates from the time of the War of the First Coalition (1793-96) when the Royal Navy carried supplies to Spain in support of that country’s resistance to revolutionary France. It then probably gained further popularity during the later Peninsular War when British soldiers were transported to Spain to assist rebels fighting against the French occupation by the forces of Napoleon. Spanish Ladies is a tale of British naval personnel sailing north from Spain and along the English Channel to their home port.Due to its popularity, several variants of Spanish Ladies later appeared in various parts of the world. American whalers sang a version called Yankee Whalermen. In Newfoundland it appeared as We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar. Special lyrics were written to the tune for the Bluenose, a famous Canadian sailing ship plying out of Nova Scotia. In Australia, around 1880, another set of lyrics appeared, written by Saul Mendelsohn who was a storekeeper in the small Queensland town of Nanango. Brisbane Ladies tells about the drovers who bring the herds of cattle overland from western Queensland to the markets in Brisbane. There the drovers spend most of their money and time with the ladies before setting out for home in search of the next herd of cattle for market. The places mentioned in Brisbane Ladies are mostly small towns along the stock route that stretched some 750 kilometres north-west of Brisbane towards the small town of Augathella, on the banks of the Warrego River. Augathella, at that time, marked the convergence of three major bullock tracks from Morven, Tambo and Charleville.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.944041 Composed by Ofer Ben-Amots, composer and librettist. Contemporary. Octavo. 28 pages. The Composer's Own Press #4799263. Published by The Composer's Own Press (A0.944041). Composer’s Notes: The Hebrew text stems from a mystical Kabalistic source attributed to the great Hassidic Rabbi Nachman of Breslav. The words tell us, in a poetic and metaphysical manner, about the mechanism that moves the world and keeps the universe alive: there is a singing fountain at the end of the world and a pounding heart at the other end. The fountain and the heart are attracted to each other and wish to get closer, but as soon as they move from their place they lose sight of each other. Once they cannot see each other anymore the heart would stop beating and the fountain would stop singing. Thus, they both stay in their places and sing to each other. Their song spreads over the entire world and sparks of light emanate from it. When the sparks are woven together they produce enough Time for a new day to be created. The music mirrors the soft pounding of the heart and the spreading of this magical melody.Duration: 9' 40 For demo recording, any questions, or additional information please e-mail Ofer Ben-Amots at: thecomposerspress@gmail.com

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.835786 Composed by Paul Burnell. Contemporary. Octavo. 124 pages. Paul Burnell #3405305. Published by Paul Burnell (A0.835786). Composed 2007, duration 8:30 approx. The music and text of ‘The Sense of a Place Will Remain’ was inspired by pictures of an early carved stone cross and a tenth-century Viking burial stone on the island of Inchcolm in Scotland. First performed by Inchcolm New Music Ensemble 29 June 2007, conductor Steve King.   Instrumentation is flexible; the following is a guide: Part 1 - Violin 1, flute 1 (doubling piccolo if possible) oboe 1, Part 2 - Violin 2, flute 2, oboe 2 (doubling tenor recorder if possible), clarinet 1, trumpet Part 3 - Viola, clarinet 2, horn in F, Eb horn (2 players doubling harmonicas in C) Part 4 - Cello, bassoon Part 5 - Double bass, bass guitar (or Cello 2 - playing as if usual bass clef, but an octave lower where possible) SATB voices (doubling metal spoons and pitch pipes) Optional:Percussion (one player) - claves, glockenspiel (could be a child’s toy instrument such as an ‘Angel’ glockenspiel), mark tree, spring drum (thunder shaker), frame drum, musical jewelry box (or similar clockwork device).Should a glockenspiel not be available, a special part has been created which arranges the glockenspiel for two flutes, together with the other percussion music. This special part is not visible in the score. Keyboard instrument with sustaining capability - piano sound   Instructions: Wind players can breathe ad lib. during any very long notes. From letter D onwards non-wind players who are not soloists blow across the top of small bottles. The pitches produced are not specified, but they should not be shrill. A soft breathy tone is preferred. About half of the voices play pairs of metal spoons (share printed part between two singers and anyone not holding the music holds metal spoons). Hold the spoons one in each hand, and strike the larger ends together. Spoons are struck together where shown with a large patterned note head. Strike rapidly where a tremolo sign is given. Four singers play pitch tuning pipes: 1 Soprano and 1 Alto play viola/cello pitch tuning pipes, 1 Tenor and 1 Bass play violin pitch tuning pipes Pitch pipe playing is indicated with square note heads - player should breathe ad lib. during very long notes. Where there are very long sung notes, the singers may stagger breathing ad lib. Spoken sounds are indicated with x note heads and with the text in italics. There are many pauses. These can be of varying duration, but on the whole they should not hold up the momentum of the piece, but be of sufficient duration to establish the solo and pitch pipe notes.   Text: Carve stone Strike out Stay at home Or go far alone. Blocks of stone are laid Emblazoned with the signs of great deeds That signify our memory, Mem’ries of who we are. Careful carvings erode through time, Chiseled grooves smooth away. Families, they scatter and fade As generations age Descendants pass on memory time. Sense of our allegiance shifts when major faults are found, Feelings of belonging fall on shaky ground, But the sense of a place will remain.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719738 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573123. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719738). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have mostly elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. (See below for more comment on the texts in this set.) There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This set was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.

She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas.Poet Kim Stafford grew up in Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, California, and Alaska, following his parents as they taught and traveled through the West. He is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, and the founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark College, where he has taught since 1979. He holds a PhD in Medieval Literature from the University of Oregon, and has worked as a printer, photographer, oral historian, editor, and visiting writer at a host of colleges and schools, and offered writing workshops in Italy, Scotland, and Bhutan.Shelter in Place by Kim Stafford (used with permission)Long before pandemic prisoned us,the trees knew how to guard their placewith roots and shade.Moss found how to hug a stone for life.Every stream knows how to move in place, stay home and yet flow outward, sending bounty far.Now is our time to practice-now to sing from balconies, now send words of comfortby any courier, now to hoard lonesome generosity-and then to shine in all directions like stars.Program note: Shelter in Place (2021) by Adrienne Inglis, commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021, sets former Oregon poet laureate Kim Stafford’s poem Shelter in Place (2020) for SSAATB mixed choir with Oregon nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnson, Lewis & C lark College class of 2021. Written during the coronavirus pandemic, the poem expresses how quarantine can serve as a conduit for healing, how words of comfort flow despite barriers, and how the paralysis of sheltering in place generates creative movement. The music and poem draw inspiration from ancient forest wisdom, shown musically with a pentatonic scale. The tight harmonies of Locrian mode bind moss to stone and stream to its own flow. Then vocal expression bursts forth with lush harmonies as singers serenade from balconies, sharing compassion through music. Returning to the pentatonic scale, we overcome obstacles and send generosity beyond our ancient and modern world into the celestial realm. The nature soundtrack features sounds of the Oregon forest, stream, and night sky.Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Katherine FitzGibbon, Bailey Dean, Chris Clark-Johnson, Kim Stafford, and the Lewis & Clark College Community Chorale. Contact the composer to obtain the audio file of the nature soundtrack.Copyright © 2021 Adrienne Inglis | adrienne.inglis.com

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775985 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Instructional. Octavo. 22 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2035131. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775985). In the Midst of Wild Being (2007) for SATB chorus, horn, and harp was commissioned by the King’s Chapel Concert Series, Heinrich Christensen, director, with the support of Choral Arts New England. The work was written in memory of American composer Daniel Pinkham (1923–2006), longtime director of music at King’s Chapel. The texts, written by American poet Elizabeth Kirschner, are directly inspired by the landscape of New England-though the sentiments reflected by the poems can apply to many places. Throughout, the focus is on the chorus, whose music is colored by the horn and harp. The Garden begins with an extended, unfolding introduction for horn and harp; the pace is that of a slow, steady walk. Though the pace remains, the music raises itself to rich climaxes in celebration of the verdant landscape. The Sea is a light and airy dance featuring a bouncy melodic theme that returns a number of times. The Forest is rich and expressive, reflecting true oneness with the landscape.

In the place Gethsemane, Jesus Christ so fair Spoke to His disciples there, Tarry here and watch with me. Falling on his loving face, Praying fervently; His Father’s will to offer grace; Suff’ring willingly.   2. Cometh then, He finds asleep Those he left to spare Agony and pain so rare Of his gift, that they may reap. Could’st thou not one hour stay Watchful as the meek? Thy spirit, willing, longs to pray For the flesh so weak.   3. Time would meet Eternity As He prayed to God. Angels sing of glory, laud, Honor born of charity. Drinking of the bitter cup; Father’s will be done. Determined he would lift us up; Thus did God’s own son.   4. Now I’m asked to watch and pray, Offer all my heart. I will choose the better part, That I might abide the day. Father help my heart to know; Help my eyes to see; Unveil and guide my wand ’ring soul T’ward Eternity

SATB divisi chorus a cappella - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1505 Composed by Martin Åsander. Kitty O'Meara wrote a poem during the Covid-19 pandemic. Like the virus, the poem got viral and spread across the world – but with a message of hope. Here put to music for choir a cappella. Secular. 11 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1505. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1505). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. We all remember the pandemic that swept the planet in early 2020. Lifestyles changed: less social contact, followed by rapid change in workplaces, health care and other institutions. Everyone was affected in some way. Playing music – and choir singing in particular – was considered by many countries to pose an increased risk of spreading infection and was discouraged. During these strange times, I found a poem by Kitty O’Meara on social media. The text originates from her own blog post in March 2020 with the title In the Time of Pandemic. The poem poses an image for a distinctive perspective during the coronavirus outbreak, the hope that something good can come from a collective state of together, apart. The idea of individual freedom of action when things are beyond our control, and at the same time a notion that the time after this will not only exist but can be better than before. The lyrics inspired the music to be both meditative with repetitive phrases and motifs and also uplifting and full of confidence and joy. And the People Stayed Home was commissioned to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the St Jacob’s Vocal Ensemble and was first performed at St Jacob’s Church in Stockholm on November 19, 2022. – Martin Åsander.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915680 Composed by Richard Joseph Barber. Classical,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. Barber Music Company #3023247. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915680). Words by St. Ambrose of Milan (c340–397), tr. by John Henry Newman.Set to music and arranged by Richard Joseph Barber for Rev. Jason Parker, High Country Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO.Composer's note:This is a joyous call to prayer (especially morning prayer). The music reminds me of little children skipping with glee under a bright blue morning sky. It needs to be sung with joy in the Lord, Who hears us when we call, forgives our sins, and gives us grace to love Him, keep his commands and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. It should be a wonder morning service anthem, but why not try it in the evening, too, in anticipation of meeting God at the beginning of the next day.  The key to the style of this piece is rhythmic vitality.  The 6/8 meter should be conducted in two, but singers (and the conductor) must feel the eighth note division of the beat as the composition's energizing rhythmic subtext. After the choir has learned the words, pitches and rhythms of the piece, have them let the text go for awhile, and replace it with the syllable doo for every eighth note value. That is, for every eighth note sing 'doo once; for every quarter note sing it twice; for every dotted quarter note sing it three times, and so on. You will hear some giggling from your singers. That is okay.  They will have some fun, and you will hear definite improvement. RJB (barberpianoserv@gmail.com).
