SKU: A0.928962

Composed by American Traditional Lullaby. Arranged by Donald A. Mills. A Cappella,Children,Folk,Traditional. Octavo. 2 pages. Donald A Mills #3372897. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928962).

This song is a lullaby, a traditional American folk song.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: All the Pretty Little Horses (also known as Hush-a-bye) is a traditional lullaby from the Early United States. The origin of this song is not fully known, but the song is commonly thought to be of African American origin, yet the tune is more easily identified as English or Scottish in origin.

This SATB a cappella arrangement by Donald A. Mills ranges in the middle-to-upper levels of expertise. The singers must have a command of breath control, of keeping the tonal center under control, and in an ability to sing in a dissonant chord. The song's duration is comfortable for concert or competition. This beautiful tune is not commonly recognized but is a long-standing lullaby in the American tradition of music.

Also available here as a ttbb arrangement.

Your chorus and your audiences will love the sweet words, harmonies and melody. Such a rich American tradition. Sing the song as a soft lullaby, in a dream-state. Softly...softly...gently.

Composed by Traditional African-American Spiritual folk song. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. 22 pages. Scott S. Stewart #987520. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1404441).

He Never Said a Mumblin' Word (also known as They Hung Him on a Cross, Mumblin' Word, Crucifixion, and Easter) is an African-American Spiritual folk song of unknown origin. It became popular in 1871 with the Fisk Jubilee Singers, and gained a wider audience through noted music educator Nathaniel Clark Smith.  The text narrates the events of the crucifixion.  This arrangement is scored for a 4-part SATB ensemble with an acoustic double bass providing accompaniment.  The double bass part could be played on an electric keyboard capable of achieving that pizz. bass sound. Performance time: 4:42+-.

SATB with piano accompaniment and shaker
ca. 2'25 duration

This toe-tapping arrangement is based on a lesser-known traditional African American Spiritual melody that I fell in love with immediately upon encountering it. The arrangement is accessible to good high school choirs and average college/university groups and is sure to please all audiences. The shaker part can easily be taken up by a non-percussionist from within the choir.

Wonder where is my brother gone?
Wonder where is my brother John?
He is gone in the wilderness,
Ain't comin' no more.

Wonder where will I lie down?
Wonder where will I lie down?
In some lonesome place, Lord,
Down on the ground.
