Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.955853 Composed by Sigmund Romberg. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century,Holiday,Musical/Show,Patriotic. Octavo. 7 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6453919. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955853). Drinking Song (Drink, Drink, Drink) from Sigmund Romberg’s operetta The Student Prince has the distinguished honor of being among the 10 ten most traditional (or classic) drinking songs ever.  At the rustic Inn of Three Golden Apples students enthusiastically sing this tune celebrating the pleasures of drinking and youthful romance.  This arrangement expands the traditional men’s chorus setting to a 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 2:15+  A perfect ensemble piece for the out-door beer garden, or a varied program of drinking music, or a community engagement run-out recital.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1094371 Composed by David Rain. Arranged by David Rain. A Cappella,Classical,Contemporary,Renaissance. 6 pages. David Rain, Choral Composer #698441. Published by David Rain, Choral Composer (A0.1094371). “How heavy lies the heart” has drawn inspiration from the traditional French Christmas carol, “Quelle est cette odeur agréable”, which John Gay also set as a boisterous drinking song in the Beggar’s Opera, “Fill every glass, for wine inspires us!” The song also draws inspiration from Josquin’s Missa Pange Lingua. I dedicate this piece to my friends in the composer/singer collective, the Ad hoc Chorale, who tested out this piece in one of our informal workshops and offered valuable comments. Optional endings. Note that choirs have been given the option to choose which of the 3 endings they would like to sing, depending on how they feel the “story line” in the song should best reach its conclusion: (1) The “happy” ending appears to indicate that the narrator has been reunited with the friend or lover who departed. (2) The “less happy” ending plants a seed of doubt that no such reunion has happened; it may be in the narrator’s head. (3) The “even less happy” ending leaves listeners in even more doubt. NB: One day I woke up to the realization that I had independently written four choral works, each of which had evoked a different season, and so it seemed natural to group them together into a choral suite that I have called The Ottawa Four Seasons Suite. “How heavy lies the heart” seemed to work perfectly as the musical representative of an autumnal spirit.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.960301 Composed by Cornish traditional. Arranged by Stephen Smith. Christmas. Octavo. 6 pages. Stephen Smith #6480313. Published by Stephen Smith (A0.960301). St. Day is the name of a village near Redruth in Cornwall, England, where a version of this carol was transcribed from the singing of a local man in the early 1900s. The text is a CliffsNotes version of the life of Christ, relating each event to a different feature of the holly-tree -- blossom, prickle, bark, and berry.  But the tune is a rollicking drinking-song, rousing and fun. The arrangement is inspired by, and dedicated to, one of my musical idols, the great American composer and teacher Alice Parker; hopefully it exemplifies some of the choral-arranging principles she has sought to instill in her students (and anyone else who will listen!) for the past half-century or so. Thank you, Alice!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.723486 Composed by Traditional French. Arranged by Garrett Breeze. A Cappella,Christmas. Octavo. 9 pages. Lagom Music #6664657. Published by Lagom Music (A0.723486). This arrangement of Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella draws its character from the story of the text, as well as the melody's historical roots as a drinking/dance song. Generally upbeat and uptempo, the mood of the music tracks closely to the story of Jeanette and Isabella, two young farmhands who have discovered the baby Jesus and rush to inform the whole town and bring them to the manger. Scored for evenly divided SSAATTBB a cappella voices, this powerful setting is a challenging but accessible concert number for more advanced choirs.Find more Christmas music at https://holidaychoirmusic.comVisit https://garrettbreeze.com for a cappella music, blog, and choral commissionsBring a torch! Jeanette, Isabella. Bring a torch, come quickly and run! Christ is born, tell the folk of the village. Mary has laid Him in a manger. Ah! Ah! Beautiful is the mother. Ah! Ah! Virtuous is the father. Ah! Ah! Wonderful is The Child. At the stable who now comes knocking? Who comes knocking upon the door? Grant us entrance, 'tis gifts we come bearing. All of our finest we shall give Him. Toc! Toc! Grant us entrance, gifts we bring. Toc! Toc! Celebrate now the Son!It is wrong when the baby is sleeping, it is wrong to speak so loud. Silence now as you gather around, lest your noise should waken Jesus. Hush! Hush! See how The Baby slumbers. Hush! Hush! See how He smiles in dreams! Hasten now, good folk of the village, hasten now, the Christ Child to see. You will find Him asleep in a manger, look at Him there, His cheeks are rosy! Haste! Haste! Follow Jeanette and run! Haste! Haste! Come, Isabella, come! Haste! Haste! Bring a torch and run!
