This well-known tune gets a modern and humorous twist. All four verses of the song are set and include insect and bird noises and references to a traditional cream tea. This should provide a fun addition to a programme (and would work well as an encore) as well as offering a challenge to established choirs.

The traditional English folk tune ‘Scarborough Fair’ is a beloved folk melody. This lilting, calm arrangement is written for a cappella SATTB (with possibility of Tenor 1 as an Alto 2 line) and the beautiful melody is shared across choral parts. Each voice line has an opportunity to utilise a cappella accompaniment skills as well as a moment to deliver the melody itself. This arrangement is ideal for high school choirs, chamber choirs, university/college vocal ensembles or a cappella groups interested in exploring a song which is both fun to perform and great to listen to as an audience member. The song works equally well as an energised encore, a fun opener, or as part of a pop set.

Alan Bullard's Three English Folksongs are arrangements of three contrasted songs: the lively 'The Brisk Young Widow' which tells of an unsuccessful wooing and an unexpected romance, is followed by the sorrowful and expressive 'Willow Song'. The last song, 'Cob-o'-coalin' is a traditional song for Bonfire night and forms a witty conclusion to the set.

“The first Nowell� (The First Noel), in its many evolutions over 400 years, remains beloved not necessarily for its ‘tune’ as much as the story it has to tell – ‘angels’ announcing to the shepherds “Nowell, Born is the King of Israel�, and then continuing with the journey of the ‘magi’.  This 2024 setting of the traditional English carol speaks to the mood, the character, the atmosphere of the ‘first’ nativity, giving pause to reflect on that time of wondrous awe.  This arrangement uses five of the nine original verses to tell its tale. It is scored for a traditional SATB ensemble, using 8-part [SSAATTBB] divisi for color.  Piano provides the accompaniment. Performance time: 7:20+-.
