Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.774720 Composed by Alfonso Maria de' Liguori. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. Sandra Milliken #3676507. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774720). Bambino dalle stelle (Child of the Stars )is a choral arrangement based on the traditional Italian Christmas carol Tu scendi dalla stelle (From Starry Skies Descending).Tu scendi dalla stelle is amongst the oldest of Christmas songs in Italy. The original version was written in the mid-1700s in Naples by the Catholic Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti, Alfonso Maria de’ Ligouri. At that time it was called Quanno nascette Ninno and was written in the Neapolitan dialect in the style of a pastorale. The song was later re-written in Italian by Pope Pius IX and thereafter it became famous as a Christmas carol all over the world.Originally containing seven verses, today’s performances of the carol in Italy generally include only the first two verses. Notable recordings and performances of the carol include those by Sergio Franchi, Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti. This English language arrangement has been extended to four verses. Verse 1 and 2 are adaptations of the first two verses of the original; the third verse tells of the adoration of the shepherds and the wise men; and the fourth is based on some ideas inspired by the remaining verses of the original version.Instrumental accompanimentAvailable separately is an instrumental accompaniment scored for string quintet and glockenspiel. Arranged by Bacco Baccanels. 19th Century,A Cappella,Classical,Opera,Traditional. 9 pages. Bacco Baccanels #993210. Published by Bacco Baccanels (A0.1410812). English (for Italian see below)--------This vocal arrangement is quite similar to the original song, rather than a choral arrangement you'll find a rhythmic approach.I only used two phrases of the original three ones, with the beautiful refrain with an harmonic movement at bars 38 and 39.In the ending I took some liberties, there isn't the powerful à la Caruso ending. Instead, after the closing there is a little more complex and dramatic harmonic part.Your attention please: I wrote two arrangements: a richer SATTBB and a simpler SATB; soprano and contralto between the two are different, it is not enough to remove the second tenor and the baritone from SATTBB to obtain SATB.Italiano--------L'arrangiamento vocale è abbastanza simile all'originale per cui piuttosto che un arrangiamento corale ho preferito un approccio ritmico.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1354521 By Traditional Song. By Traditional Song. Arranged by Bacco Baccanels. A Cappella,Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 7 pages. Bacco Baccanels #939239. Published by Bacco Baccanels (A0.1354521). English--------The original version of this emigrant song is quite simple: same melody repeats throughout the song. More, the existing vocal arrangements I've heard are quite steady and not so rhythmic. So I tried to add some movement: there is a musical introduction with little lyrics and then we move on to the main theme, where the bass gives rhythm to the main melody.Shortly after, with a Queen-inspired variation coming from Bohemian Rhapsody the score modulates in a close key, to underline the singing of the brothers of the song's sad heroin and immediately after the theme softens to leave room to the sad mother heralding the coming tragedy.A tragedy that is sung immediately afterwards, in minor, and then returns to the main melody until the finale, where after a choral phrase we return to the main theme.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955796 Composed by Music: Luigi Denza, Words: Peppino Turco/Edward Oxenford. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Folk. 15 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6036809. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955796). This popular Neapolitan song was composed in 1880 for the opening of the funicular railroad - that cabled cars up Mount Vesuvius. It instantly became a hit on the streets of Naples and soon spread around the world.  This arrangement uses both the original Italian text and the traditional English words, making it an excellent study in Italian pronunciation and good English diction - probably well suited for Italian Immersion school programs.  It is scored for 4-part SATB chorus and piano.
