Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1365141 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Lent,Sacred. 7 pages. Con Spirito Music #949447. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1365141). Scottish-born James Montgomery (1771-1854) was a poet, writer, and editor, raised and theologically trained in the Moravian Church. As a writer of hymns, his work has been compared favorably to that of Samuel Wesley, Isaac Watts, Philip Doddridge, John Newton, and William Cowper (Cooper). Among his most well-known lyrics are Angels From the Realms of Glory, Go to Dark Gethsemane, and Hail to the Lord's Anointed. In the Hour of Trial consists of four stanzas of eight lines in 6.5.6.5 meter, written in the first-person voice. Stanzas 1 and 2, presented by unison women's voices, then men's, are pleas for Jesus' presence in times of temptation; stanza 3, in full harmony and unaccompanied, expresses the author's reliance on Christ in times of affliction; stanza 4, with full choir and organ accompaniment, expresses the author's reliance, at time of death, on Jesus' truth and promise of eternal life. This anthem is especially appropriate in Lent and for memorial services, and is fitting for general worship as well.©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music. All rights reserved. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1283376 Composed by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Con Spirito Music #874560. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1283376). Charles Wesley’s (1707-1788) Advent hymn, “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus,†from Hymns for the Nativity of our Lord (1744), reflects the dual nature of Advent for Christians, in that it recalls the first coming and incarnation of the Messiah while also anticipating His return. Each stanza presents a different idea: Stanza 1, the longing for freedom from sin and fear; Stanza 2, attributes of or names for Christ; Stanza 3, the Messiah's birth, kingdom, and purpose; and Stanza 4, a prayer for Christ's rule in believers' hearts. Among the Scriptures referenced in the hymn are 2 Corinthians 4:14, Revelation 3:21, Isaiah 61:1-2, Luke 4:18-19, and Romans 6:22. In this setting of Wesley’s text to an original tune, a short introduction is followed by verse 1, presented by women’s voices (soprano, alto) and verse 2, presented by men’s voices (tenor, bass). Verse 3 is presented by SATB voices, unaccompanied; and following a short organ interlude and modulation from D minor to E minor, the concluding verse 4 is introduced by all voices in unison with organ, then expands both dynamically and in texture to SATB and ends on a glorious E major chord.©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.950766 Composed by Chris Monteiro. Christian,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 10 pages. Christopher M. Monteiro #3365211. Published by Christopher M. Monteiro (A0.950766). I heard something like the voice of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of mighty thunders, saying, Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns! This lively and majestic canon is a fanfare for the great wedding of the Lamb and His bride. In a B-flat Mixolydian Mode for SATB Choir, it has been fashioned to help you internalize God’s Word. The range of the canon melody for sopranos and altos is from B-flat below Middle C to the 2nd D above Middle C. For tenors and basses, the canon melody is one octave lower. Each of the voices splits into two parts in the final measures, the 1st sopranos ending on the 2nd F above Middle C. The text of this song is from The World English Bible (WEB), a Public Domain (no copyright) Modern English translation of the Holy Bible based on the American Standard Version of the Holy Bible first published in 1901, the Biblia Hebraica Stutgartensa Old Testament, and the Greek Majority Text New Testament.

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942423 Composed by Hubert Parry (1848-1918). Arranged by Brock Lupton (1948-). Christian,Contemporary,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Brock Lupton #4764195. Published by Brock Lupton (A0.942423). This setting is ideal for Remembrance Day: it is also suitable for a funeral or celebration of life. It is singable as a congregation hymn, as an anthem for unison voices, or as a vocal solo (range A below middle C to D a ninth above middle C). The text is by Canadian poet Frederick George Scott (1861-1944). The original title is Requiescant (Let them rest). The source is Christian Poetry in Canada (ed David A. Kent ed, Anglican Book Center and ECW Press, Toronto, Canada, 1993) page 54. Scott was a military chaplain during World War I. This poem was, in the poet’s own words, [b]egun while I was lying awake in a sleeping-bag under a tarpaulin at Brielen, near Ypres…. during the gas attack on April 22nd, 1915…. As I lay awake, I wondered what all our comrades who had passed over were doing now…. I finished the poem at a little village called Robec. As I wrote it, I could see through the window, my host, who was a carpenter, making a baby’s coffin. (http://www.canadianpoetry.ca/confederation/FGScott/collected_poems/notes.htm) I have made a few slight changes: awful  has become awe-filled Dear Christ became O Christ, and the line A weary road these men have trod has been altered to A weary road these warriors trod. Both the music and the original text are in the public domain in Canada, where copyright expires 50 years after the death of the author or composer.A brass quintet arrangement compatible with the voice part is available separately.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1323225 Composed by Cornish folk tune. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Sacred. 10 pages. Con Spirito Music #911489. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1323225). “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen†is an English traditional carol dating, perhaps, to the 16th or 17th century. A manuscript, ca. 1650, contains a version with the first line, “Sit you merry gentlemen†and the refrain, “O tidings of comfort and joy.†The earliest known printed edition of the carol is a London broadsheet dated 1760, in which the first line is the familiar “God rest ye merry, gentlemen.†By the 19th century, the carol was well-known, with Charles Dickens referencing it in his 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol. The phrase “God rest you merry†in the first line is an archaic idiom meaning “God grant you peace and happiness.†William Shakespeare used the phrase “rest you merry†in his plays, “As You Like It†and “Romeo and Juliet,†both from the 1590s; but Dickens recorded the phrase as “God bless you, merry gentlemen†in A Christmas Carol. The tune adapted for use in this arrangement was at the time of its notation a wordless, nameless melody noted in 1905 by folk song collector E. Quintrell from the singing of a Mr. Boaden in Cornwall, England. The tune was sent to Lucy Broadwood, editor of the Journal of the Folk-Song Society, who decided that it fit the ballad, “The Maid in Bedlam,†and published the tune and text together. Gustav Holst later arranged the tune as Song without Words ‘I'll Love My Love’†in his Second Suite in F for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 2 (1911) and again as “I Love My Love†in his 6 Choral Folksongs, Op. 36 (1916). Set in F minor (Dorian), the tune brings a contemplative tone to the text, with the high point of the refrain being the subdominant Bb major chord on the word “joy.†The rich, dark timbre of solo clarinet (part included) on introduction, interludes, and ending adds to this tone. SATB voices (with some divisi on soprano and tenor), piano, Bb clarinet©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869578 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 145 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #3581845. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869578). The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was Fauré's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass.  And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting.  I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that Fauré used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version.  It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string  quartet, double bass and harp. The movements, as in the Fauré, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7. In paradisumThe entire work has a duration of ca. 29 minutes.Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) is dedicated to the residents in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/missa-pro-defunctis-2018YouTube link: https://youtu.be/E5b3Ud2tV_4
