Here is a lively arrangement of the traditional African-American spiritual, Wade in the Water, for mixed voices SATB (with occasional divisi) with piano accompaniment.  The soprano, tenor, and bass sections take turns leading the chorus.  The last verse is to be sung in swing style. Premiered by Dr. Anthony Leach and Essence of Joy at the Celebration of African American Spirituals (now known as the African American Music Festival), this arrangement was a hit at ACDA National Convention in Chicago. From concept to premiere in under a month, Wade in the Water quickly became a choir favorite. It is an in-your-face fusion of styles that ends with an enormous bang.
