Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926665 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588435. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926665). In the first chapter of Paul’s second letter to Timothy, verses 1-10, we observe the intimate relationship that exists, between a spiritual father and his son… I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. In Chapter two we also witness Paul’s commissioning Timothy to entrust to faithful men all that he was taught by the Apostle, that they then may be able to teach others in the same way also. While the elder Paul is now in prison and bound in chains, he is nonetheless empowered by the Holy Spirit to encourage and exhort Timothy to share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ, for the sake of the Gospel. Though Paul is bound in chains, he declares to Timothy the word of God is not bound! Endurance for Paul serves only one purpose, the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. In verse 11, Paul supports his statements by inserting another known 1st century Hymn to Christ, which brings us to our fifth anthem, For If We Died with Him. The text-or lyrics-of this hymn are even bracketed (or indented) in the NKJV Bible, suggesting the hymnic setting.   The proposition of the text is quite clear; if we died with Christ, then we shall also live eternally with Christ. If we endure in the faith, then we shall also reign eternally with Christ. However, there is an insertion of 'Law' here, with a dire warning that the opposite is also true: If we deny Christ, resist, and refuse His beckoning and free invitation to salvation, then He will also deny us. Not everyone who says to me ā€˜Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven… I will declare to them, ā€˜I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:31-23). Thus, the stage has been set for the fifth anthem. The piece is composed for SATB a cappella. The key is F Major. The opening phrase, This is a trustworthy saying, is in ¾ time, where a series of triplets are sung three times each (the Trinitarian opening motif). The meter then shifts to 2/4 with a lovely, distinctive unison melody for the opening phrase, For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. Soon after, when the lyrics shift to the words, If we deny Him, He will also deny us, the song drops into the relative minor key (F minor). The melody in this passage is haunting, and sends a clear warning signal to the listener to pay heed to what is being sung. When the text then transitions from if we are faithless, He remains faithful, however, the key shifts back to F Major in a new (dance-like) rhythm for the final verse, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. A coda is inserted in the final phrase where the triplet pattern is recapitulated (This is a trustworthy saying) and the sopranos ascend to a high F singing the lyrics, we shall live, for He remains faithful! to triumphantly end the piece.

Lloyd Larson's tender original melody and supportive accompaniment makes this a strong consideration for World Communion Sunday or any other communion service throughout the year.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1109087 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 10 pages. Kevin Longley #711630. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1109087). Inspiration While I have recited the Nicene Creed countless times, in July 2021 something changed. The church had cleared the return of the choir, post pandemic, and it was my first Sunday of singing in well over a year. That Sunday as I recited the creed something happened when I reached the line ā€œAnd His Kingdom Will Have No Endā€. Was it louder? Was it spoken with greater conviction? Something was different! Maybe it was just me. I'm not sure but all I know is that every Sunday thereafter it had the same impact on me. Within a few weeks I decided to compose a choral piece about that very line. I had to! The Music For the most part the harmony and structure are traditional but do contain harmonic structures with a contemporary flair. The arrangement is refrain, verse, refrain, verse, bridge and then refrain. The first and 3rd refrains are highly similar while the second refrain contains a soprano section descant while featuring the bass's carrying the main melody. The overall intent of the music is that on every return to the refrain, it is louder than the previous refrain. This signifies the singers confidence growing, in the existence of God's Kingdom, after each verse. With that said the piece starts quietly, almost being heard from a distance. The refrain lyrics speak to the hope that we carry for God's kingdom while the verses speak to God and Jesus in a more intimate way. The bridge speaks to the strength of the Kingdom and then leads back to the opening refrain, now in double forte. The high point in the piece is reached where volume, emotion and a significant ritard occur at the phrase ā€œwe'll be togetherā€. From there the piece decreases in volume ending in a quiet confidence repeating ā€œNo end, no end, no endā€.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.905717 By Casting Crowns. By Mark Hall. Arranged by Brandon Haynes. Christian,Gospel. Octavo. 11 pages. Brandon Haynes #4609419. Published by Brandon Haynes (A0.905717).  If We are the Body was a praise song written over a decade ago in the early 2000’s by Mark Hall and performed by renowned praise-band Casting Crowns. The song still holds great significance nearly 16 years later as it poses important questions of discipleship to those who associate themselves as Christians. The song asks; if we are the body of Christ, what are we doing to further his kingdom? It also candidly points out many faults in Christian behavior, which is an honest quality I love about this song. Youth groups and praise-bands often perform this song; however, I have arranged the accompaniment more solemnly to highlight the text in a more meditative manner so that it is also accessible for adult church choirs.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.874151 Composed by Mary Rose Jensen. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Octavo. 12 pages. Garden Rose Music #5991027. Published by Garden Rose Music (A0.874151). Christmas SATB Choral Anthem with Organ Accompaniment. Text follows:What happened in Bethlehem changes the world.A baby born there seemed like millions before. His mother was Mary, a virgin, still pure. His Father was God, the Creator, the Lord. His birthplace, a town unimportant and small. His shelter, a stable for animals there. His bed was a trough where those beasts had been fedAnd plain strips of cloth were what He had to wear. What happened in Bethlehem changes the world. The King of the universe lived here on earth.Though He was far richer than anyone elseHe chose to be humble and poor in His birth. He’d cared for His people for thousands of years,But they had rebelled and rejected His ways.Instead of harsh punishment richly deserved,His promised redemption would soon be in place. What happened in Bethlehem changes the world.God’s Word in the flesh made the prophecies clear. He called for the people to come follow HimAnd preached that the kingdom of heaven was near. This kingdom was nothing like any on earth,Not weapons, but sacrifice caused it to spread. For Jesus the sinless One died for our crimesAnd gave us new life when He rose from the dead. What happened in Bethlehem changes the world. The people of God are still following Christ. And though we forget Him and stumble aroundHe picks us up safely and gives us His light. The woes of our planet, with hunger and warsAre lessened by those who will love as He said. For those who seek heaven bring grace to the earthAnd those who love Jesus will rise from the dead.
