Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924873 Composed by Stanley M. Hoffman. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jewish. Octavo. 8 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #4784655. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.924873). The poem sometimes called I Am due to its repetition of the phrase, hence the title of the present composition. Is the poem inspired? The tetragrammaton Hebrew name for God, which transliterates roughly to YHWH, means I am that I am. There is something almost mystical about this poem as it was poet’s first one. Mary Elizabeth Frye was an orphan who had never received a formal education. In 1932, she and her spouse offered shelter from the Holocaust to a young Jewish woman named Margaret Schwarzkopf. When Margaret received news that her mother had died in Germany, the distressed houseguest told Mary in all hopelessness that she had never had the chance to stand by my mother’s grave and shed a tear. Mary then wrote the poem on a torn-off section of a brown paper bag. She said the words just came to her..

SATB choir, string orchestra - Intermediate SKU: LO.55-1068S A Service of Tenebrae. Composed by Douglas E. Wagner. Choral, cantatas. Holy Week, Sacred. Choral score. Duration 20-25 minutes. Sacred Music Press #55/1068S. Published by Sacred Music Press (LO.55-1068S). UPC: 000308060669.Remembering the events of Jesus' last hours leading up to his crucifixion and death is one of the extraordinary opportunities Christians have during Holy Week. This service of worship dramatizes the events and recaptures those solemn and sacred moments. The Canonical Hours of Matins and Lauds, recited and sung on the evenings of the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before Easter Sunday, is called the 'Tenebrae,' which means 'darkness' or 'shadows.' It is named for the practice of extinguishingall but one of the prepared candles in the worship space during the course of the service. Mr. Wagner's service of Tenebrae focuses on seven episodes in the Passion and Death of Our Lord, and his choral music, all original, is passionate, dynamic and devotional. In addition, he has arranged his choral accompaniment for either keyboard or string ensemble. Congregational responsive readings and scriptural references also become a part of this exceptional observance. Performance time: 20-25 min.

Connie Boss #6383851. Published by Connie Boss (A0.801665). This is a medley of 3 Christmas Carols - In the Bleak Mid Winter (English), Gesu Bambino (Italian) and The Snow Lay on the Ground (Irish). Venite Adoremus means O Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ the Lord. I thought it sounded nice to have it in SATB parts - taking turns between the high and low voices and then all together. cdboss@cvalley.netLyrics Below:O Come Let Us Adore Him (Venite Adoremus, Dominum)   (Medley of In the Bleak Midwinter, Gesu Bambino and The Snow Lay on the Ground   In the bleak midwinter, frosty winds made moan Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone Snow had fallen snow on snow, snow on snow. In the bleak midwinter, long, long, ago.   When blossoms flower amid the snow, upon a winter night Was born the Child, the Christmas Rose, The King of Love and Light.   Venite Adoremus, Dominum Venite Adoremus, Dominum   Twas Mary daughter pure of Holy Anne. That brought into this world the God made man She laid Him in a stall at Bethlehem. The ass and oxen shared the roof with Him.   Again the heart with rapture glows, to greet the Holy night. That gave the world it’s Christmas Rose, it’s King of Love and Light   Venite Adoremus, Dominum Venite Adoremus, Dominum   And thus that manger poor became a throne, for He whom Mary bore was God the Son O come then let us join the heav’nly host to praise the Father, Son and Holy Ghost   O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord   O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord Venite Adoremus, Dominum!

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596519 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contemporary,Latin,Multicultural,World. 14 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3485699. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596519). Juan María Solare Lorem ipsum for choir a cappella SATB Audio: https://soundcloud.com/juan-maria-solare/lorem-ipsum-choir-northern-spirit-solare Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uyp8F6qTqw Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, incididunt ut labore et dolore magna umbra. Nulla sed leo. Nullam sed purus. Nulla vitae diam sapien. Nulla gravida pretium magna. Tellus, ventus et ignis. Verbum sapientes defendit.     The Lorem ipsum is a text in pseudo-Latin, loosely inspired in a writing of Cicero[1] and that since the XVI century is used in publishing as filler text. Today it is used with a similar function, in electronic documents or web design. There are several versions of this text (of variable length), all them used to begin in the same way (Lorem ipsum … elit) but goon in different fashions. Therefore, I also invented part of the text, taking care of the metric, structural parallelisms and some hidden allusion to popular music (Tellus, ventus et ignis is Earth, Wind and Fire). The last sentence has even some sense: Verbum sapientes defendit means that the word defends to those who know. In the coda, since it is vocally much more practical to finish in m than in t, I changed the last word: dolor sit ipsum, what carries the existentialist message that pain is oneself.   Musically, the form is a rondo, with an obsessive refrain (based on the sentence we are commenting) which reappears without modifications.   This piece was composed in Bremen (Germany) on 18, 19 and 20 May 2015 (as if from a handbook: one day the text, the following day the music and on the third one big adjustements and the definitive precisions). Lorem ipsum is dedicated to Gonzalo Martín Saldívar. Premiere by the chamber choir Northern Spirit, conducted by Jaret Choolun, tenth year anniversary concert1 (19th November 2016) at the kleiner Saal of Die Glocke, Bremen, Germany. Each of them wants to dominate the world. They don't want to be cooperative diligently; They use the dirty tricks instead; They use every possible means for cunning. When the saint raises only one foot high,While the devil has already jumped ten feet tall. They are blind at what the Doomsday is coming,They still love to rob and snatch. They would like to die together; You die and I die, too. What a shame. The human body contains cells. All cells have membranes. With membranes they know how to be selfish.Selfish genes have played an important role in evolution.Love yourself and your country is only a low level of selfishness; Sacrifices oneself and destroys countries are the high level of selfishness: The world must be for the global public welfare. It is really a kind of selfish seeking benefit only for human beings. Looking at the world today, Among Emperors, Empresses, Presidents and Chairmen,No one is worthy of become a future world leader. They only know how to love themselvesAnd their countries’ benefits in a naive way; They dislike to destroy all the countries,They don’t practice the rule for world population’s commonwealth, Knowing not the brilliance patriotism in the past Has becoming the hurdles on the road to globalization. How sad, how sad!Preparing to establish the “World Leadership Education Institute”. Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027930 Composed by Zach Wells. Arranged by Zach Wells. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 3 pages. Zach Wells #3094003. Published by Zach Wells (A0.1027930). Translated to English from Latin, Adiuva nos Deus salutaris noster meansHelp us, O God, our Savior. When writing this piece, I hoped to capture the full spectrum of realized helplessness. We start with an almost methodical melancholy, repeated with additional tones. Next, the diminished chords and misaligned text paint a picture of a disenfranchised group, together longing for the same relief. In a frenzied turnaround, the music climbs to a diatonic apex, immediately drifting back to the familiar tonality of the top of the piece, and closing with a dark, mistrusting 'Amen'. Take time with the fermatas and ritards, and really lean into the dynamics of this short, dramatic composition. - Zach WellsZach Wells lives in Dallas, Texas, where he is an Associate Director of Music at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. There, he directs the youth choir and youth band, and leads a new, Sunday night alternative worship service.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1157142 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 15 pages. Sally Whitwell #757469. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1157142). Written in the Stars -- text and music by Sally Whitwell Written in the Stars was originally conceived in the aftermath of the 2019-2020 bushfire season, the most destructive Australia has yet seen. At the time, we thought things couldn’t get worse, but then followed more extreme weather events, insect and rodent plagues, and a deadly pandemic that brought the world to its knees. All these things are connected, the result of humanity’s exploitative relationship with the planet and its other inhabitants. But we continue to deny the problems and to fail to act. As a species, in our more optimistic moments, we talk about having great opportunities to reinvent, that to live the status quo means that we will be faced with an untenable future. Talking about it is one thing but as far as I see it, we are not taking any opportunities to act. It is clear that we do not learn from our mistakes. As Spanish American writer George Santayana once said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” It is from this notion that this song was born. Written in the Stars is about society’s propensity to go through cycles of behaviour, never learning from the mistakes of the past. Written in the Stars was originally commissioned by Adelaide Chamber Singers, directed by Carl Crossin. Sally Whitwell January 2023.

Published by Brandon Nelson (A0.1201739). A gentle mountain snowfall…an icy midnight sojourn…the simple, quiet joy of first snow…I found the perfect voice for the feelings and scenes of winter I wanted to convey in the tiny verses known as haiku.  I’ve always loved haiku. I admire the expressive power that the skilled poet can wring out of such bare economic means.  A scene, painted so poignantly, so vividly—an essence, a sigh, a quick, visceral sketch to capture the deceptively-simple drama of nature revealing itself.  They are epigrams of life. I hope these little morsels of music and words fill you with the essence of the winter season and that I’ve been able to impart some of the enthusiasm and admiration I feel for this wonderful aspect of Japanese culture.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1225939 Composed by Rich Campbell. 21st Century. Octavo. 12 pages. Pay The Band Music #821977. Published by Pay The Band Music (A0.1225939). Composers Note: “The Red Wheelbarrow,” an innovative environmental/imagist poem I first read as a teenager, struck me as an alluring and joyful means to immerse in a commission by Austin's Inversion Ensemble for their Planet Home project. The score blossomed during a fellowship at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, a pastoral setting that nurtured embracing the poem’s vivid landscape. The piano provides a repeating foundation over which the choir playfully evokes the spare text, using variations of the initial theme throughout. There is a contemplative moment midway, then the pulse resumes, concluding with a gleeful repetition of the last line. The Red Wheelbarrow is a wonderfully approachable and fun piece of music. The singers of Inversion had a blast working through the rhythmic lilt and subtly beautiful harmonies, so often found in Rich Campbell's music. The clever musical interpretation brought out the wry humor of the text, which helped to set a relaxed atmosphere for the rest of our concert. It was exactly the opener we needed!-Trevor F. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1380143 By Scott Bussen. By Scott Bussen. Arranged by Jon Burr. Comedy,Multicultural,Pop,Traditional,World. 17 pages. Scott Bussen #964855. Published by Scott Bussen (A0.1380143). “Ode to a Cow” is a poem written over 100 years ago. While the original author of the poem will probably remain unknown, or questioned, the anonymity of the work sets it apart. Dozens of poets from the time could have penned its lines. As a composer and songwriter for many years, I see these old anonymous poems as a means to time-travel and collaborate with the poets of yore and provide my own musical interpretations of their works. This poem literally turned itself into a song on its own in just a few minutes - chords, melody, etc. This was 20 years ago and with each performance the song takes on new meaning. In a choral setting, the lines becomes even more nuanced. Each choir will interpret the piece differently. The punchline, or hook, is delivered five times and the complex simplicity within the text gently urges the whims of the choir for interpretation. This energy is certainly capable of extending far beyond the audience’ ears and facilitates the stirring of one’s imagination. Complex questions, simple advice - presented by the voices of a choir.

Barnes (A0.946445). Growing Older  is one of my first choral compositions, told from one's perspective expressing the undeniable reality of life being temporary, yet with a hope beyond it. The music begins the first stanza of words in a slow moving tempo in D major, creating a bit of bittersweetness to the listener. Immediately following is the key of E minor, attempting to convey the emotions of sorrow over words such as Every moment becoming a memory. Finally, the piece modulates to the Dominant, A major, as a means to present hope from the final stanza describing the hope of A place that I have never known/ A place where I'll never grow old.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976727 Composed by Robert Myers. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. WheatMyer Music #5197337. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976727). It was one of those accidents where you find something useful when you’re looking for something else. While reading on the nature of worship, a particular blog article ended with Adoniram Judson’s early 19th Century baptismal poem, Come Holy Spirit, Dove Divine. The flowing text called out (at least to me!) for a musical setting. Accordingly, some melodic and harmonic ideas began to percolate in my thoughts. However, before getting very far along in writing a tune, there were two surprises in store. First many others had already set the text to music before (with a multitude of tunes) going back to at least 1833. Second, despite being a Baptist for over forty years, I discovered that this hymn has been in the Baptist Hymnal since 1956 yet I have no recollection of every singing it! Well, chagrined at my ignorance, I carried on writing a new melody and harmony for this deserving text. I sought to make it friendly to congregational singers while still containing rich and sing-able harmonies and so aimed for a four-part hymn-style form. However, as I suspect my ignorance of the hymn is a common condition, a fresh and modern tune which would be at home in varied musical styles and have popular appeal was also pursued. The result is a delightful and uplifting tune, easy to sing, with an optimistic and forward momentum, commensurate with the meaning of believers’ baptism, Buried with Him in baptism; raised to walk in new life. The music is flexible in application to many church music styles: praise team and band, choir and organ, congregation and piano, or mix and match to fit your needs. May you find Come, Holy Spirit, Dove Divine, singing a much needed text, a means for your congregation to joyfully join with new believers in celebration of their baptism!
