Score
Words by Emily Dickinson
Music by Richard deCosta

Because I could not stop for Death ā€“
He kindly stopped for me ā€“
The Carriage held but just Ourselves ā€“
And Immortality.

We slowly drove ā€“ He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility ā€“

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess ā€“ in the Ring ā€“
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain ā€“
We passed the Setting Sun ā€“

Or rather ā€“ He passed Us ā€“
The Dews drew quivering and Chill ā€“
For only Gossamer, my Gown ā€“
My Tippet ā€“ only Tulle ā€“

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground ā€“
The Roof was scarcely visible ā€“
The Cornice ā€“ in the Ground ā€“

Since then ā€“ 'tis Centuries ā€“ and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity ā€“

In the reclusive chambers of Emily Dickinson's 19th-century Massachusetts home, the haunting poem, 'Because I Could Not Stop for Death,' was conceived. Living much of her life in isolation, Dickinson's thoughts often ventured into the shadowlands of existence. This poem, published posthumously in 1890, offers a chilling reflection of her contemplation. The Grim Reaper, a timeless symbol, is portrayed as a carriage driver, guiding the reader through a somber journey that mirrors the ephemeral nature of life. Passing scenes of childhood innocence, maturity's labor, and the twilight of existence, it culminates in the cold embrace of the grave. Her words, etched in a gothic darkness, resonate with the uncertainties and fears of her time, transcending to speak to the eternal human condition.

By Maxwell. By Kate Bush. Arranged by a do Ray me flute studio production, Ray-Michael Kauffman. Contemporary. Octavo. 37 pages. As do Ray meflute studio production #6069725. Published by as do Ray meflute studio production (A0.874263).

This Woman's Work  by Kate Bush  arranged for flute choir /ensemble.

I started a new line of flute arrangements called Compositions that Care.  With these arrangements, all the money sued to purchase these arrangements goes to special charity or cause . This specific arrangement is for Breast Cancer . This is something that 1 in 8 women will develop in their lifetime, and is special to me because I've had family members, friends and co-workers effected by this cancer. Generally speaking, for October, I would arrange so fun or scary Halloween song, however, October is Breast Cancer Awareness. I could not think of anything better to do than a beautiful arrangement , to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer.
This well written, beautiful song by Kate Bush would make a great addition to your music library, something very different and memorable not only for a general audience , but especially for an event celebrating Women , for a breast cancer survivor, for friends and family also effected by this cancer , or a movie or tv themed concert because this song was featured in the movie in She's having a Baby :, to tv shows like Alias and recently in The Hand Maids Tale . This is something very different , beautiful, and easy to derive emotional expression from, and for many this song as well as this cause will be very meaningful for many people

A dramatically beautiful, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.

Text:
When in the dark with vision obscured,
My prayer is answered from Godā€™s peace conferred:
ā€œBe not afraid; oh, be not dismayed.
Jesus is near thee; for thy soul He paid.ā€

I am a covā€™nant chi-ld of God.
His holy Son draws my honor and laud.
I feel Christā€™s love; to Him I am bound.
Fearlessness comes from his merited crown.

I am an heir of Abrahamā€™s seed;
I will be blessed for each covā€™nant I heed.
I can be strong in these latter days.
Courage will come with Christā€™s infinite aid.

I will trust God and his Son of Man.
I know I can for I know whose I am.
I will hold tight to heavenā€™s sure rod,
For I am a covā€™nant child of God.

I am a child in Godā€™s family.
He knows my name and He calls me to be
Humble and bold, and in Him confide.
Jesus has promised Heā€™ll be by my side.

I can proclaim my legacy acquired
Because of my Saviorā€™s most holy desire.
Iā€™ll not forget my heritage bought,
For I am a covā€™nant child of God.

Our Heavenly Father had a plan

Before I came to earth.

My spirit lived with Him in heaven

While waiting for my birth.

Because I chose our Fatherā€™s plan

I earned my body there.

I came into my family

On earth to learn and share.

And when I die, Iā€™ll live again

In a heavenly place.

My resurrectionā€™s plainly sure;

Iā€™ll see my Saviorā€™s face.

This is the greatest plan I know

That shows our Fatherā€™s love.

I will live righteously and well

To be with Him above.

Text:
Behold, I Am the Light

ā€œBehold, I am the light; I have set an example for you.ā€ (3 Nephi 18:16)

Storms of darkness may descend like a winter sky.
Clouds of gloom may dominate; sun may be disguised.
Walking step by step with Me through mortality
Lessens shadows flawlessly; trusting is my plea:

Behold, I am the Light . . . a light that has no end.
I will lend my power; I will be thy Friend.
I can brighten evā€™ry path like a blazing torch.
I can lighten loads because Father is my source.

Behold, I am Godā€™s Light; His love shines through Me.
Never to be darkened, feel this love and see.
I will faithful be . . . trust Me perfectly.

Days of trial might seem long like the darkest night.
Tests of patience may endure evā€™n in Fatherā€™s sight.
Trusting in each morning sun is a blessed choice,
for bright truth will ever shine. Hear my faithful voice:

Behold, I am the Light . . . a light that has no end.
I will lend my power; I will be thy Friend.
I can brighten evā€™ry path like a blazing torch.
I can lighten loads because Father is my source.

Behold, I am Godā€™s Light; His love shines through Me.
Never to be darkened, feel this love and see.
Godā€™s light shines through Me, shining endlessly.

Composed by Richard Joseph Barber. Christian,Contemporary,Gospel,Sacred. Octavo. 16 pages. Barber Music Company #4727369. Published by Barber Music Company (A0.915699).

Dedication

Sometime in the 1980's, Richard Tober, a brother in Christ who was also an appliance repair man, came to our house on Hill Street in Coloma, Michigan to fix our kitchen range. He knew that I was a composer, and during the course of his time with us that day he told about his love for Jesus and his aspiration to write poetry with music to express that love. He didn't feel he was equipped to put music to his words, but he did have a poem that he gave me, wondering if I would set it to music for him. It was a difficult task because Richard's poetry was not set up in any formal poetic fashion; it was, however, a fulfilling task because his poem was such a simple, childlike, personal expression of his love for the Lord. I Am Going Home to Glory is the result of our collaboration. He was thrilled with the outcome. Now that Richard has left this world to be with Jesus, I am happy that God allowed and enabled me to set Richard's poem to music. -Richard Barber

A gorgeously beautiful hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Kathryn W. Hales.

Text:
I glory in my Jesus, I glory in His love,
For His condescension From heavenly realms above.
I glory in my Jesus, For His life and ministry,
For miracles and healings too, All giv'n so gloriously.

I glory in the plainness, Of all His truths revealed,
I glory in His priesthood, For all ordinances sealed.
I glory in my Jesus, Who redeemed my soul from hell,
Because of Him all wrongs will be made right and fair and well.

I glory in my Jesus, who pure salvation brings,
For ev'ry human soul Through His holy offering.
I glory in my Jesus, For His sacrifice divine,
That paid for all men's sins and more, Yea, even yours and mine.

I glory in my Jesus, For resurrection's life,
To rise from grave restored anew, Greeting parents, husband, wife,
I glory in my Jesus, Oh, I glory in His grace,
With steadfast hope that I shall see The glory of His face.

Composed by Michelle Willis. A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 10 pages. Teton Music #5033147. Published by Teton Music (A0.887281).

SATB, a cappella

Written for the Early Light Academy Spotlight Singers (South Jordan, UT) and taken from actual responses from the students they were asked, when people look at you, what do you want them to see? This song is intended to be a very personal expression for the singers as well as for the audience.

Text:
I see: eyes and a face, hands and feet
You see: the same
I see: tears and a smile, working, moving
You see: the same
I see: pain, joy, strength, endurance
You see, you think you see-but you canā€™t name it.
I see you, please see me.
When you look at me, see a person who isnā€™t afraid to be-- just be.
I am tall or I am small, but I am happy to be me.
I may be confident or meek, I may be really strong or weak,
And if it changes week to week, it doesnā€™t matter.
What matters is that you see me.
When you listen, notice that my voice may sometimes raise the roof
And other times it may seem aloof when I cannot find the proof
Of what is truth and what is fair, but listen ā€˜til you hear me share
And know deep down I really care, because it matters.
It matters that you see me.
I see: someone who is strong and kind, someone who knows their mind,
Someone who struggles just like me, but keeps fighting endlessly
I see you, please see me.
I see: a soul who finā€™ly knows Iā€™m here
And doesnā€™t judge if I bow down to smallish fears
You see me, and I see you, thereā€™s nothing greater we can do
Than to acknowledge weā€™re all travā€™ling down this road,
But not alone.
It matters-
That I see you-and you see me.

Composed by John W. Fisher. 21st Century,Christian,Instructional,Praise & Worship,Religious. 2 pages. John Fisher #914875. Published by John Fisher (A0.1326732).

This sermon song was inspired by the second half of the sermon Those Who Came With Jesus by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers, Florida on November 26,2023 using the text Mark 10: 1-31. I used the first groups who came with Jesus were theĀ  Pharisees testing Christ about marriage and devorce, the disciples and the children. In my sermon song Marriage and Children With God I set to the traditional Here Comes The Bride, with a Christian message as apposed to Wagner's pagan opera of origin. This one focuses on the rich man in the Gospel of Mark who, although he kept all of the commandments,Ā  lacked one thing - that he sell all he had and give it to the poor.Ā  With sorrow he departed from Christ because he had many riches. I avoided the eye of the camel referance, but ended with the line For all things are possible with God.

For the music, to describe this event, I tweeked my sermon song LOOK, which has been published by Sheet Music Plus. This SATB arrangement can be used as special music by a quartet, a choir anthem or sung by a congregation with its five verses as a hymn.
