In the reclusive chambers of Emily Dickinson's 19th-century Massachusetts home, the haunting poem, 'Because I Could Not Stop for Death,' was conceived. Living much of her life in isolation, Dickinson's thoughts often ventured into the shadowlands of existence. This poem, published posthumously in 1890, offers a chilling reflection of her contemplation. The Grim Reaper, a timeless symbol, is portrayed as a carriage driver, guiding the reader through a somber journey that mirrors the ephemeral nature of life. Passing scenes of childhood innocence, maturity's labor, and the twilight of existence, it culminates in the cold embrace of the grave. Her words, etched in a gothic darkness, resonate with the uncertainties and fears of her time, transcending to speak to the eternal human condition.

I started a new line of flute arrangements called Compositions that Care.  With these arrangements, all the money sued to purchase these arrangements goes to special charity or cause . This specific arrangement is for Breast Cancer . This is something that 1 in 8 women will develop in their lifetime, and is special to me because I've had family members, friends and co-workers effected by this cancer. Generally speaking, for October, I would arrange so fun or scary Halloween song, however, October is Breast Cancer Awareness. I could not think of anything better to do than a beautiful arrangement , to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer.  
    This well written, beautiful song by Kate Bush would make a great addition to your music library, something very different and memorable not only for a general audience , but especially for an event celebrating Women , for a breast cancer survivor, for friends and family also effected by this cancer , or a movie or tv themed concert because this song was featured in the movie in She's having a Baby :, to tv shows like Alias and recently in The Hand Maids Tale . This is something very different , beautiful, and easy to derive emotional expression from, and for many this song as well as this cause will be very meaningful for many people

When in the dark with vision obscured,
My prayer is answered from God’s peace conferred:
“Be not afraid; oh, be not dismayed.
Jesus is near thee; for thy soul He paid.�

I am a cov’nant chi-ld of God.
His holy Son draws my honor and laud.
I feel Christ’s love; to Him I am bound.
Fearlessness comes from his merited crown.

I am an heir of Abraham’s seed;
I will be blessed for each cov’nant I heed.
I can be strong in these latter days.
Courage will come with Christ’s infinite aid.

Our Heavenly Father had a plan

Before I came to earth.

If you've heard a military band you may find this melody familiar, as it's a very popular traditional tune. As part of the 'Songs of Life and Love' project in 2017/18, Cat McGill found the original lyrics to the tune I'm Ninety Five in the archives of the Bodleian Library, Oxford, and adapted them and arranged for community choir.

This is a cheerful, rebellious song with a feminist theme! There is NO MINIMUM ORDER quantity on this arrangement, because I arrange all my songs to be taught by ear. .

Storms of darkness may descend like a winter sky.
Clouds of gloom may dominate; sun may be disguised.
Walking step by step with Me through mortality
Lessens shadows flawlessly; trusting is my plea:

Behold, I am the Light . . . a light that has no end.
I will lend my power; I will be thy Friend.
I can brighten ev’ry path like a blazing torch.
I can lighten loads because Father is my source.

Behold, I am God’s Light; His love shines through Me.
