Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308788 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. 11 pages. Tobi Crawford #898034. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1109087 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 10 pages. Kevin Longley #711630. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1109087). Inspiration While I have recited the Nicene Creed countless times, in July 2021 something changed. The church had cleared the return of the choir, post pandemic, and it was my first Sunday of singing in well over a year. That Sunday as I recited the creed something happened when I reached the line “And His Kingdom Will Have No Endâ€. Was it louder? Was it spoken with greater conviction? Something was different! Maybe it was just me. I'm not sure but all I know is that every Sunday thereafter it had the same impact on me. Within a few weeks I decided to compose a choral piece about that very line. I had to! The Music For the most part the harmony and structure are traditional but do contain harmonic structures with a contemporary flair. The arrangement is refrain, verse, refrain, verse, bridge and then refrain. The first and 3rd refrains are highly similar while the second refrain contains a soprano section descant while featuring the bass's carrying the main melody. The overall intent of the music is that on every return to the refrain, it is louder than the previous refrain. This signifies the singers confidence growing, in the existence of God's Kingdom, after each verse. With that said the piece starts quietly, almost being heard from a distance. The refrain lyrics speak to the hope that we carry for God's kingdom while the verses speak to God and Jesus in a more intimate way. The bridge speaks to the strength of the Kingdom and then leads back to the opening refrain, now in double forte. The high point in the piece is reached where volume, emotion and a significant ritard occur at the phrase “we'll be togetherâ€. From there the piece decreases in volume ending in a quiet confidence repeating “No end, no end, no endâ€.

Christian,Christmas,Holiday. 10 pages. Connie Boss #907165. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1318498). This version has an optional beginning. I have choir humming for the first three measure. There is a soloist that starts singing after that. The optional part is to not play the piano until half way through the verse. There is accompaniment if you prefer. You can hear on the mp3 how it sounds being a cappella until then. It is for SATB voices. I have also added additions to each verse that is different than the original with new lyrics and music. It adds a little bit to this iconic song. Kevin G. Pace #806402. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1208296). A stunningly beautiful, sacred composition for SATB choir.  Music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.  Depicting the miracle of Jesus curing the man by the Pool of Bethesda.Text:By Bethesda’s special pool, each day they did wait.Blind and halt and withered there, each to not be late.By the pool the crippled lay; healing was the goal.Ere an angel’s touch was stirred, not one would be whole.Years and years a man stayed near, but with none to aid. Then the Savior came, unknown, to surround and stay.Wilt thou be made whole? was asked by the Healer there.I can’t reach the pool myself. These pains I must bear.Wilt thou be made whole? I can ease thy load. Can I heal thy sun-parched soul? May I make thee whole?Rise, and take thy bed and walk. These words Jesus spoke.Soon the man was cleansed and healed, as if he awoke.Had full faith been shown that day from this aged man?Can we also trust our Lord? Will we take his hand?By our own Bethesda pools in a sacred space,He can clearly mend our cares through (by) his wondrous grace. We can also rise like him o’er our doubts and fearsAs we linger, patiently, listening to hear.We can be made whole when his hand we hold.He can heal our holy souls; He will make us whole.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836712 Composed by Brian Joyce. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 21 pages. Brian Joyce #4325937. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836712). If you ever need a break from the soundbyte theology found in so many contemporary Christian lyrics, why not revisit the words of Isaac Watts (1674-1748), who could stretch a single coherent thought across multiple verses of his hymns? Watts was a prolific writer on many subjects, including geography, astronomy, ethics, and psychology. His book on Logic became a standard university text, being used at Oxford for over 100 years. But his greatest desire was to assist Christians in the worship of God and it is his hymns for which he is best remembered today. These old words are here set to new music which represents a blending of three different traditions: First, and most obvious, is the rustic sound of early American shape-note singing. Second is the strong linearity of 13th century Ars Antiqua voice leading, in which each part was more or less independent. And third is my own fondness for mixed meters and sonorities built on fourths and seconds. Yet it all works somehow: these are actually very singable hymns once the choir has acclimated to the style. Most fall comfortably into a simple diatonic language and would present no jarring problems for the listener. Five of the hymns are for standard mixed voices (SATB); one is for men’s voices (TTB); one for women’s (SSA) and the last, a Doxology, is in six parts (SSATTB) with a florid threefold amen. There is admittedly a certain sameness about these settings; perhaps it’s best if they are not all sung in one go, cover to cover. Taken individually, however, there is no reason they couldn’t make for a refreshing change from the usual church anthem, and a group of three or four could easily find a place on a choral recital program.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.891208 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Gunnar Madsen, Laurie Betts Hughes. Children,Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 18 pages. Dandelion Music Press #3106157. Published by Dandelion Music Press (A0.891208). If you are looking to lighten your concert, to program real music, or a piece with rapid text delivery satisfying to mid-level HS choirs and community choirs with adult choral beginners, bring this hilarious 3 minute piece to your outstanding accompanist-pianist and your developing ensemble.  Debuted for choir during an educational outreach concert for children with families, Mozart's At the Window is also an effective selection or encore for a Mozart concert, or standing on its own.  Piece features lots of vocal doubling and is fully supported by a pianistic reduction-- this piece shines with an amazing accompanist. The choral arranger writes: After getting absolutely sick of the inane music I'd been playing for my young children in the car, I was elated to discover Gunnar Madsen's CD I'm Growing featuring Mozart's At the Window.  The kids were delighted with this funny song about some naughty kid, and my husband and I were delighted with the enormous improvement of musical quality in our vehicle.  It was shortly thereafter that this choral arrangement was born.Gunnar writes: In my first music theory class in college, the teacher and the students were recalling the silly ways they'd been taught to remember classical melodies when they were young.  One of them was for Mozart's 40th symphony (which I'd never heard) which consisted of Now Mozart's at the window - Let him in, Let him in, Let him in.  What an ear-worm!  For 25 years now I've dreamt of expanding that ditty into something more substantial, and now I'm proud to present the finished piece.  I'm really going to get a kick of sending this one to my teacher!Also available in Two-Part Treble voicing.Music abridged from W. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1316582 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By W. Romanis / Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. A Cappella,Christian,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 4 pages. Anastace #905306. Published by Anastace (A0.1316582). This beautiful evening hymn is a perfect pairing of a solemn, contemplative melody with uplifting, scriptural lyrics that remind us of the hope we have in Christ, in this life and the next. I found this song in a very old hymnbook, so old that you could feel the raised print on the page, and loved the lyrics so much and felt that a minor melody would suit it extraordinarily well. This piece works well as a choir anthem for funerals or for any evensong themed service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers. It works well either with a soft organ accompaniment or a capella, to showcase the rich vocal harmony reminiscent of Elaine Hagenburg or John Rutter. For other formats including large print or special congregtional versions contact me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. Please let me know if there is any other way I can serve you as a congregation or fellow music/choir director as I endeavour to write several new choral anthems per year, along with my other recording work.Thank you for supporting modern hymnwriters and musicians! As heard on YouTube!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719738 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573123. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719738). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have mostly elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. (See below for more comment on the texts in this set.) There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This set was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774724 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 14 pages. Sandra Milliken #3873279. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774724). The Old Palmer Song is a favourite Australian folk song that is meant to be sung in a rollicking style that reflects the excitement and anticipation of hardy Australian colonials setting out in search of gold. Following hard on the heels of the great California gold rushes (1848 – 1855) came the discovery of payable quantities of gold in Australia. The first gold rush in Australia began in New South Wales in May 1851 after prospector Edward Hargraves discovered gold near Orange, at a site he called Ophir. Other discoveries quickly followed, including those at Ballarat and Bendigo in the colony of Victoria. Then came Rosewood and Gympie (1867) in Queensland; the Gawler region in South Australia in 1868; and Halls Creek (1885), Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (1893) in Western Australia. One of Australia’s richest alluvial goldfields was that of the Palmer River in far north Queensland. The rush to the Palmer began in 1873 and lasted for about three years. The goldfields were nearly 100 miles inland from the small coastal settlement of Cooktown and the early prospectors had a hard time of it just getting to the field. Leaving Cooktown they crossed the coastal mangroves, then on through dense tropical rainforest, into the more open eucalypt forest beyond and then across the dry, inhospitable and rugged country of the hinterland dissected by wide and deep rivers. And always there was the risk of meeting with fierce resistance from the Aborigines whose tribal land they were travelling through. At the height of the rush there were around 35,000 prospectors on the Palmer (including a great many Chinese). By the time the rush was over, the Palmer had yielded over 100 tons of gold! The Old Palmer Song is set to the tune of Ten Thousand Miles Away, a shore ballad/sea shanty that probably originated in Ireland in the early 19th Century.

On the Lake written for advanced SSAA divisi and harp.  Fannie Isabelle Sherrick was an American poet who wrote songs and poems throughout the 1860's that captured hearts and minds. I Can Not Say the Sad Good-Bye was one of her notable songs published in 1873. She was both influenced and encouraged by Ella Wheeler Wilcox who she attributed her success to. Her most popular poetry volume entitled Love or Fame and Other Poems was published in 1880 by W.S Bryan of St Louis and she continued writing for many years. ON THE LAKE There's a beautiful lake where the sun lies low, And the skies are warm with their summer glow; And a beautiful picture there I see Where the winds are warm and the waves are free, And the waves lie still in the sun As the flowers at night, when the day is done. You may sing of your silvery seas by night When the moon looks down with a dreamy light; And the stars shine out in the skies above Like the warm sweet gaze of the eyes of love; But the glow on the lake to-day Is a glory that never will fade away. The beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The trees bend down in the sun's warm glow Till their branches meet in the waves below, And the clouds in the far-off skies Are mirrored anew where the sunlight lies. I love to float where the shadows lie 'Neath the matchless glow of the summer sky; And I love to dream that these waves of light Will never fade in the gloomy night: But I know that the things I love Are as far from my reach as the clouds above. Oh, the beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The cloudlets of Heaven are mirrored there In a golden splendor so bright and fair That the soul is dazzled for aye By the beautiful light of this summer's day. Oh, I love to dream when this life is o'er We shall moor our boats near the golden shore; And our sorrows shall drift from us far away As the leaves that float in their idle play, And the waves shall smile in the sun When the night is over and life is done.  Fannie Isabelle Sherrick.
