Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308692 By Bing Crosby. By Irving Berlin. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas. 20 pages. Derek Hasted #897932. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1308692). WHITE CHRISTMAS - 4 GUITARS ( optional bass)Primarily for classical or acoustic guitar, but sometimes listed under electric guitarDerek Hasted writes My arrangement of this now-timeless classic is accessible to quartets and large ensembles of all abilities from â??early intermediateâ? upwards. Ideal for school concerts or adult Christmas celebrations.Unlike many arrangements it includes Irving Berlinâ??s original introduction (but you can start at Letter B if you want to omit it). There are no page turns in the part scores.Guitar 4 has a few double stops and is in treble clef but also (with no double stopping) in bass clef for a deeper sound. You can include both parts if you want! There is minimal fingering because most of the piece can be played in first position (to suit an ensemble with limited experience) or higher up the neck (for a rounder tone to suit a more experienced group). Please add dynamics and phrasing to make the performance â??yoursâ?.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797756 Composed by Bernard de la Monnoye. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Baroque,Christmas. Score and parts. 17 pages. Derek Hasted #4836609. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797756). PATAPAN - traditional carol - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar. There are TWO ARRANGEMENTS in this one edition.Derek Hasted writes This Burgundian Carol, first published in 1720, usually has four verses in the French version and three in the English. This arrangement has three verses, all in slightly different styles. The melody and the onomatopoeia in the lyrics are together meant to symbolise the fife (“Ture-lure-luâ€) and the drum (“Pata-pata-panâ€).In both arrangements Guitar One has melody, and it fits nicely in a mix of IV and V position. There is no fingering, because your ensemble might want to choose between two different approaches...A less experienced ensemble might prefer to venture up the neck just to reach for the A and B notes, and return to the first position as soon as possible...A more experienced group might want to stay up the neck to get a more rounded tone throughout. Depending on your choice of fingering, slurs might be possible to improve the flow. There are two versions of the lower parts. In the first arrangement, in “SATB†style, Guitar 4 plays the bass; Guitar 3 provides, in the three verses, percussion, a choral countermelody, and finally a Hurdy-Gurdy style drone; Guitar provides a countermelody. In the second arrangement, the roles rotate at the end of each verse, so that all the accompanying players have three very different verses to play. Guitar 1 stays with the tune, because in a mixed ability ensemble, moving the tune about tends to highlight any weaknesses. This arrangement highlights the strengths!Percussion (the X-headed notes) works well if you tap the guitar near the bridge to get a deep bass drum.At the end, the brave amongst you can shout “Patapan†to bring the piece to a surprise conclusion...I hope you enjoy this piece!

Guitar Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1463459 Composed by John Dowland (1563-1626). Arranged by Clive Lane. Classical,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 34 pages. Clive Lane #1042157. Published by Clive Lane (A0.1463459). ‘Lachrimæ or Seven Tears figured in Seven passionate pavans, with divers other pavans, galliards and allemands, set forth for the lute, viols, or violons, in five parts’is a collection of instrumental music composed by John Dowland and published in 1604. Apart from the sheer quality of the music, it is notable as the first publication of English music scored specifically for strings and for lute, and the first to have used the table layout for consort music. There are seven Lachrimae pavans, which are variations on the theme that Dowland had already made famous as a lute solo and a song (“Flow my tears”).The “divers other” compositions are: two almans (“almands”), nine lively galliards (“galiards”), two sombre pavans, and a “funerall.” There are 21 pieces in all and I have divided them into three books, retaining the original ordering of the pieces. This Book Two (8-14) - three pavans and four galliards:8.     Pavan: “Semper Dowland, semper Dolens”9.      Sir Henry Umpton’s Funeral10.  Mr John Langton’s Pavan11.  The King of Denmark’s Galliard12.  The Earl of Essex Galliard13.  Sir John Souch, his Galliard14.  Mr Henry Noell, his Galliard(See Book One and Book Three for the others) For this arrangement for guitar quartet*, I have combined two of the parts (part three and part five) to make guitar 4 (with some minor adjustments).Time values have been halved, and in several cases (Nos. 9,12,15,16,17,20,21), I have transposed the key to a more guitar-friendly key. Clive Lane 2024*Also see my arrangement for guitar quintet.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797829 By Elton John. By Elton John. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. 16 pages. Derek Hasted #6496541. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797829). CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes I first arranged this lovely tune for The Hampshire Guitar Orchestra, and my arrangement here produces the same big sound from an intermediate guitar quartet or large ensemble. School teachers will find this is an ideal piece for an end of semester concert, and adult ensembles will find it makes a restful interlude piece in a full-length concert. My arrangement comprises two verses and a Coda, but either verse could be repeated to make an even longer performance piece. There are no page turns.Guitar 1 suits the seventh position, and guitar 4 (which is in two voices) is all in the first and second position. The middle parts could be taken in a variety of positions, and I have left the fingering for you to choose. There are many places where the faster notes can be slurred, and this does make a positive difference to the overall fluidity of the piece. There are suggested dynamics which make the piece come alive.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797751 Composed by Edvard Grieg. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Film/TV,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 15 pages. Derek Hasted #4793235. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797751). COWKEEPER'S TUNE (TV's Woodentops theme) - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This arrangement is taken from a String Nonet version (2 first violins, 2 second violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos and 1 double bass). It makes a great quartet for a guitar ensemble of modest ability, and those with more experience will be able to generate a wonderful soundscape with a rich clear overall sound. The pitch range of the original has to be compressed onto the pitch range of a guitar ensemble and I’ve achieved this by raising the lower voices, rather than altering the top voice, where the piece calls for a lighter texture. The dynamics of the original are retained in my arrangement, but the fingering is left to the players... Playing the lower parts up the neck will give a rich, cello-like, sound, but a first position performance will be robust and will use many familiar guitar shapes. This is a charming, gentle, pastoral piece and the sweet sound of the guitar suits it well. Those UK players of a certain age might just remember that this music introduced The Woodentops, a children’s string-puppet TV series which ran in black and white from 1955 till 1957, and was regularly repeated until 1973.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1448345). THE LONELY SHEPHERD (Kill Bill) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleFor Classical or Acoustic GuitarDerek Hasted writes This charming instrumental might be known to you from Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill”, or from the moving version by André Rieu, featuring Pan Pipes.Or maybe this is the first time you’ve come across this haunting melody, set above a bubbling accompaniment. My arrangement will suit a mixed ability guitar quartet or a larger ensemble. Guitars 3 and 4 are early intermediate, and Guitars 1 and 2 are intermediate.Note : I have also published a version for 3 guitars or larger ensemble in which all the parts are intermediate - find it easily from my website (below)Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to add depth to the D minor chords. There’s also a Guitar 4 part set in bass clef for deeper guitars - here the tuning is normal, and towards the end the bass is taken up an octave for variation, without getting tangled in the accompaniment parts. Either or both Guitar 4 parts can be used in a large ensemble. This is an ideal concert piece that many in the audience will recognise.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797754 Composed by Traditional German. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas,Folk. 14 pages. Derek Hasted #4796597. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797754). SUSSER DIE GLOCKEN NIE KLINGEN (Sweeter the bells never sound) - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This delightful tune is a traditional Thuringian Folk Melody, and has become a well-loved German Carol with the English translation Sweeter the bells never sound than at Christmas time. This piece of music is ideal for a novice mixed-ability guitar ensemble - it would be an ideal instrumental for a School Christmas concert, but is also in a good key for accompanying singers. Two Guitar 1 parts are provided - you can use either or both, depending on the skill of the players in your ensemble. Guitar 1b is all first (or second) position, whereas Guitar 1a is all in VII position - the part score is thoroughly fingered. The other parts are all straightforward. But as well as being a fantastic piece for a school concert, it is also great in an adult concert, since it has immediate audience appeal and needs minimal preparation in experienced hands.I hope you enjoy performing this!

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1085456 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Traditional. Score and parts. 23 pages. Derek Hasted #689606. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1085456). PORTSMOUTH - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Although this piece was made famous by Mike Oldfield, it first appeared in John Playford’s “The Dancing Master†in 1701, and also found fame in the hands of Ralph Vaughan Williams. My arrangement starts with a slow, teasing, introduction, and introduces the famous melody very slowly and gently. “What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor†also makes a few appearances before we let the brakes off and burst into the tune that many people know. The music isn’t hard to play, and each line has some music interest, though only Guitar 1 has to venture up the neck. It’s ideal for a mixed ability ensemble, and runs at nearly five minutes, to make a substantial concert item that builds up and up. This arrangement was a firm favourite with the Hampshire Guitar Orchestra (HAGO) and their audiences. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as HAGO did!
