Guitar Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1463459 Composed by John Dowland (1563-1626). Arranged by Clive Lane. Classical,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 34 pages. Clive Lane #1042157. Published by Clive Lane (A0.1463459). ‘Lachrimæ or Seven Tears figured in Seven passionate pavans, with divers other pavans, galliards and allemands, set forth for the lute, viols, or violons, in five parts’is a collection of instrumental music composed by John Dowland and published in 1604. Apart from the sheer quality of the music, it is notable as the first publication of English music scored specifically for strings and for lute, and the first to have used the table layout for consort music. There are seven Lachrimae pavans, which are variations on the theme that Dowland had already made famous as a lute solo and a song (“Flow my tears”).The “divers other” compositions are: two almans (“almands”), nine lively galliards (“galiards”), two sombre pavans, and a “funerall.” There are 21 pieces in all and I have divided them into three books, retaining the original ordering of the pieces. This Book Two (8-14) - three pavans and four galliards:8.     Pavan: “Semper Dowland, semper Dolens”9.      Sir Henry Umpton’s Funeral10.  Mr John Langton’s Pavan11.  The King of Denmark’s Galliard12.  The Earl of Essex Galliard13.  Sir John Souch, his Galliard14.  Mr Henry Noell, his Galliard(See Book One and Book Three for the others) For this arrangement for guitar quartet*, I have combined two of the parts (part three and part five) to make guitar 4 (with some minor adjustments).Time values have been halved, and in several cases (Nos. 9,12,15,16,17,20,21), I have transposed the key to a more guitar-friendly key. Clive Lane 2024*Also see my arrangement for guitar quintet.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971640 Composed by Jeffrey Hoover. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Musicart Publications #3926807. Published by Musicart Publications (A0.971640). The Toccare began in the early 16th century as a virtuosic instrumental work for strings (associated with lutes especially) or keyboard instruments. It is the predecessor to the toccata, requiring quick finger motion, contrapuntal writing, and often possessing an improvisatory quality.   Toccare is 8 minutes and 30 seconds in duration.  Jeffrey Hoover's work- music ranging from soloist to symphony orchestra -has received recognition through the prestigious Trieste prize, awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, the Lancaster Fine Arts Festival, the L. Russolo competition, grants, publications, fellowships, and more than 20 commissions. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer.

Guitar Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1448345 Composed by James Last. Arranged by Derek Hasted. 20th Century,Film/TV. Score and Parts. 25 pages. Derek Hasted #1028285. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1448345). THE LONELY SHEPHERD (Kill Bill) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleFor Classical or Acoustic GuitarDerek Hasted writes This charming instrumental might be known to you from Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill”, or from the moving version by André Rieu, featuring Pan Pipes.Or maybe this is the first time you’ve come across this haunting melody, set above a bubbling accompaniment. My arrangement will suit a mixed ability guitar quartet or a larger ensemble. Guitars 3 and 4 are early intermediate, and Guitars 1 and 2 are intermediate.Note : I have also published a version for 3 guitars or larger ensemble in which all the parts are intermediate - find it easily from my website (below)Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to add depth to the D minor chords. There’s also a Guitar 4 part set in bass clef for deeper guitars - here the tuning is normal, and towards the end the bass is taken up an octave for variation, without getting tangled in the accompaniment parts. Either or both Guitar 4 parts can be used in a large ensemble. This is an ideal concert piece that many in the audience will recognise.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1410591 By Toto. By David Paich and Jeff Porcaro. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. 23 pages. Derek Hasted #993012. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1410591). AFRICA (Toto) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleWritten for classical guitar, also suits acoustic or electric guitarDerek Hasted writes I wanted to make this fantastic piece accessible to as many guitarists as I could. To do that, Iâ??ve moved the key down one tone to make the keys in this piece familiar ones. My arrangement will suit a mixed ability ensemble from early intermediate to intermediate. Guitar 4 has the bottom string tuned down to D, and thereâ??s a bass clef version of the same line to suit a normally tuned bass guitar or upright bass. You can have one or both lines in your performance.Iâ??ve deleted a tiny piece of repetition near the end - the words change in the original but the music doesnâ??t - as an instrumental there was too much of the same phrase! The piece finishes with a final chord instead of a fade to nothing, as it works so much better in concert. The resulting piece still runs for four and a half minutes. Thereâ??s a set of repeat marks so that the music will fit on a normal music stand without page turns.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797754 Composed by Traditional German. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas,Folk. 14 pages. Derek Hasted #4796597. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797754). SUSSER DIE GLOCKEN NIE KLINGEN (Sweeter the bells never sound) - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This delightful tune is a traditional Thuringian Folk Melody, and has become a well-loved German Carol with the English translation Sweeter the bells never sound than at Christmas time. This piece of music is ideal for a novice mixed-ability guitar ensemble - it would be an ideal instrumental for a School Christmas concert, but is also in a good key for accompanying singers. Two Guitar 1 parts are provided - you can use either or both, depending on the skill of the players in your ensemble. Guitar 1b is all first (or second) position, whereas Guitar 1a is all in VII position - the part score is thoroughly fingered. The other parts are all straightforward. But as well as being a fantastic piece for a school concert, it is also great in an adult concert, since it has immediate audience appeal and needs minimal preparation in experienced hands.I hope you enjoy performing this!
