The work is in sonata da chiesa style with four movements of slow-fast-slow-fast. Sonata No. 1 concludes with a cherry on top; an added surprise movement of a sprightly Gavotte. Mr. Sauer has arranged this delightful work for Trombone Trio of advanced performers and is about 7 minutes in length.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810913). The Five Divertimenti K. 439b consists of 25 pieces originally scored for two clarinets or basset horns and bassoon. It is assumed that Mozart wrote these works for the Stadler brothers, Anton (famous for the Clarinet Concerto) and Johann. Originally scored in C major (Mr. Sauer has arranged them in keys that are more suitable for the Trombone), the 25 pieces were grouped into five movements each. The styles of the movements include Sonata-allegro, Minuet and Trio, Larghetto, Adagio, Rondo and even a Polonaise. This collection of the Five Divertimenti is an immense amount of very entertaining music, all beautifully arranged by Ralph Sauer for three advanced Trombonists.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810832). Fantasy and Fugue in D minor BWV 905 is one of Bach's least known works originally written for keyboard. The Fantasy is of moderate tempo and relatively short. The top two lines have many suspensions while the bottom line is scalelike.   The Fugue is more lengthy with the top lines trading off short repeated passages while the bass line winds around alternating scales and octave jumps. Mr. Sauer's excellent arrangement is appropriate for advanced performers and is about 6 minutes in length.

A new set of 3 beautiful sounding Corelli Trio Sonatas for Trombone Trio transcribed by L.A. Philharmonic Principal Trombonist, Ralph Sauer. Opus 1, No. 2 in D major, Opus 1, No. 3 in G major, Opus 4, No. 1 in C major. Each trio of about 8 minutes in length is in a 4 movement structure of Slow- Fast-Slow-Fast. There are many great pure chorale harmonies, plus each 2nd movement has a contrapuntal style to it, which is great for building up keen ears and ensemble sense. These sonatas are of moderately advanced difficulty, in tenor and bass clefs. Endurance is not a problem because of the masterly editing of Mr. Sauer, who is legendary for his transcription skills. These trios can be performed by most College/University students and some keen high schoolers. Range goes from a pedal A for Bass Trombone to one high D for the 1st part, but most of the tessitura is in a normal range.
