Although it is an exact canon, it is common for listeners to not notice the strict technique behind the flowing and fluid melodic lines. Historically, Ockeghem (ca. 1420-1497) is considered the musical link between Guillaume Dufay and Josquin des PrƩs. I have included two transpositions for recorder trio, one for 2 altos and tenor and the other for 2 tenors and bass. Of course, this could be played on 2 bass and contrabass or 2 sopranos and alto recorders. There is a manuscript of the original single line canon on the IMSLP website.
