Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #927419. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1341909). Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is a well-known Christmas carol with exciting facts surrounding its creation and evolution. Here are some intriguing details about the song:The original song was published as Hark, How All the Welkin Rings in the 1739 Wesley hymnal, Hymns and Sacred Poems. The second line, as written by Charles Wesley, read Glory to the King of kings, not Glory to the newborn King. The change from welkin to herald angels was made by George Whitfield, altering the meaning of Wesley's metaphor. The tune we usually associate with Hark! The Herald was written by Felix Mendelssohn in 1840 and was not intended as a sacred song. Mendelssohn wrote it to commemorate the four-hundredth anniversary of Gutenberg's printing press. The song was initially intended to be sung to the same tune as Charles Wesley's Easter hymn, Christ the Lord Is Risen Today. In 1855, British musician William Hayman Cummings adapted Mendelssohn's secular music to fit the lyrics of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing by Charles Wesley. The hymn highlights the virgin birth, the universal application of the coming of the incarnate Deity to all nations, and the significance of Christ's birth in Bethlehem. These facts shed light on the historical and musical significance of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, adding depth to its enduring popularity as a Christmas carol.

Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming is a Christmas carol with a rich history and deep theological significance. It is most commonly translated from the original German hymn Es ist ein Ros entsprungen. The hymn emphasizes the royal genealogy of Jesus and Christian messianic prophecies, describing a rose sprouting from the stem of the Tree of Jesse, symbolizing the descent of Jesus from Jesse of Bethlehem, the father of King David. The hymn has been set to music by various composers, with the familiar harmonization by Michael Praetorius dating back to the early 17th century. The English translation by Theodore Baker, Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming, was written in 1894 and has been widely used in English-language hymnals. The hymn's enduring appeal lies in its theological depth, musical beauty, and historical significance, making it a cherished part of the Christmas tradition for many.

Minuet: AllegrettoDuration: ca. 14:10, Score: 15 pages.Franz Josef Haydn was an Austrian composer who is best known for his work in the field of chamber music. He composed in a variety of musical forms, including divertimenti, trios and string quartets. He was a prolific composer who wrote over 100 pieces of chamber music and is believed to have been a major influence on the music of his students and contemporaries, including Mozart and Beethoven. Haydn's music is known for its balance and clarity in structure. His chamber works were known for their accessibility and elegance, with melodies that were often lighthearted and charming. His symphonies were well-crafted and often featured balanced melodic elements. Haydn composed many well-known divertimenti and trios, but his string quartets are what he is most celebrated for. He wrote some sixty to eighty string quartets, and these works were historically significant for expanding the limits of the genre and for their influence on the composers and musicians who followed him.

Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1148914 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Instructional,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 10 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #749047. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1148914). This arrangement adapted for tenor saxophone trio was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy..

Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #927846. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1342330). Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song that has several interesting facts associated with it:Origin: The song's origin is uncertain, and there is no consensus on who composed it. It has been attributed to Henry VIII, the King of England, but this association is considered erroneous, and the song is more likely to be Elizabethan in origin.Christmas Carol: The tune of Greensleeves is used for the classic Christmas carol What Child Is This?Lyrics: The song's lyrics are about a painful romantic problem and include what some historians view as subtly salacious content. The lyrics deal with a spurned lover accusing Lady Greensleeves of casting him off discourteously despite his love for her. The song's scandalous twist is hidden in its title, and its exact meaning has been debated for centuries.Cultural References: The tune was used as the slow march of the London Trained Bands in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was adopted as the quick march of the 7th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment during World War I. Additionally, the tune has been referenced in literature, such as in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor.Popularity: In some parts of the world, the Greensleeves tune is famous as a standard chime for ice cream vans. These facts make Greensleeves a fascinating and culturally significant piece of music with a rich history and diverse interpretations.
