Trio for Flute Cello and Piano is part of my album Modern Chamber Music Vol. 2 by Darian Stavans.
Modern Chamber Music Vol. 2 is a second proposal of academic knowledge and Darian Stavans’ personal view of our modern times. This album compiles works for solo instruments like the piano in Sonatina and Variations and pieces for duets like the clarinet and piano in the six nocturnes written for this instrument combination. The album ends with a trio for flute, cello and piano, a piece with great emotional content and an exquisitely accomplished instrumental dialog. Once again, the conceptual language is academic, but as we listen we can count on the freshness of its musical nature.

This is the first of a series of chamber compositions inspired by the musical styles of Latin America, particularly Piazzolla, and also Caribbean idioms such as Rhumba. The rhythmical element serves as background to a lyrical dialogue between the two solo instruments. The piano part, far from being a mere accompaniment, is almost an entire composition unto itself.
