Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767322 Composed by Mike Lyons. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 35 pages. Lyons Music Services #3488955. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767322). Original horn quartet inspired by a conversation about writing for horns. There are three movements. The first movement is called Canon. It consists of a simple theme that is presented in imitation by each of the four 'voices' first at 2 bar intervals then, in inversion at four bar intervals and then in the original form at one bar intervals. There is a linking fanfare-like passage before the final statement of the original motif with fanfare-like adaptations. The second movement is called Lullaby. The elegant, drifting melody is passed around the four players with a largely chordal accompaniment pattern that needs to be played sotto voce at all times. The tempo is marked Largo, but it is still one-in-a-bar.The third movement is called Hullabaloo-haloo-haloo. While it is based on a 6/8 cantering rhythm, there is a lot of variation in both the accompaniment and the melody. Again, all the lines have a lot of interest, nobody has to play simple um-chucks, and there's even a solo for the 4th horn at the end.I have rearranged the parts as 1/3/2/4 on the advice of a horn player friend of mine. Enjoy. This is a really enjoyable and exciting new addition to the horn quartet repertoire.

French Horn Quartet Horn - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1268051 Composed by Solage. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #860561. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1268051). Plusers gens voy is a song composed by the late 14th-century French composer Solage. The song is written for four voices: tenor, contra tenor, cantus, and triplum. The lyrics of the song are Plusers gens voy qui leur pensee / A leur dame ne sont pas nee / Car ele est de si grant beaute / Que nus ne la puet veoir sans faille which translates to More people have seen in their thoughts / That they were not born for their lady / For she is of such great beauty / That no one can see her without failing. The overall message of Plusers gens voy is a declaration of love and admiration for a lady of great beauty. The lyrics suggest that the lady is so beautiful that it is impossible for anyone to see her without failing. The song is a tribute to the lady's beauty and is likely a reflection of the composer's feelings towards her. The song is a beautiful example of medieval French music and poetry and is still performed and studied today.

Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.919032 Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by L.C. Harnsberger. Contemporary,Multicultural,Romantic Period,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 31 pages. LCH Music #3516355. Published by LCH Music (A0.919032). This piece for horn quartet was adapted from three rarely heard pieces by Anton Bruckner. The Praludium and Postlude were originally written for keyboard. Bruckner was probably the finest organ improvisor of his time, but he wrote very few pieces for that instrument. The Chorale is adapted from an early quartet for men's voices c. 1848. Fortunately these three pieces work perfectly together for four horns. Bruckner's unmistakable harmonies, counterpoint, and drama are all present in this work. All attempts were made to create an edition that accurately reflects Bruckner's music as if he had originally written it for horn quartet. Enharmonic spellings were retained, and the articulations and dynamics were adjusted to both reflect Bruckner's intentions while making the music appropriate for live performances. Praludium, Chorale, and Postlude for Four Horns is a perfect piece for recitals, festivals, weddings, and any other ceremony.
