Lost in The Zonules of Zinn is a new work by Jim Pugh for 8-part Low Brass Ensemble comprised of Trombone Quartet and Tuba Quartet (two Euphoniums and two Tubas). The work was commissioned by and dedicated to Gerry Pagano and the St. Louis Low Brass Collective, with its first performance on January 20, 2015 at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis. The work is in a contemporary style and is about 11 minutes in length, appropriate for virtuoso performers. The prayer has often been set to music.Frank Gazda has beautifully arranged four musical settings of the prayer for Trombone Quartet by: Jacob Arcadelt (Renaissance), Johann Joseph Fux (Baroque), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Classical) and Giuseppe Verdi (Romantic).Although originally composed as four-part choral settings, they work perfectly for the Trombone. Each piece stands on its own as a work of beauty, or the four can be performed as a whole. They are at a moderately advanced level of difficulty.

He was very well known during his lifetime, and modern scholars consider him to be one of the most important keyboard composers before Johann Sebastian Bach. The Ricercare No. 13 and Fantasia No. 1 for Four Trombones arranged by Ralph Sauer are two wonderfully composed contrapuntal works that are a joy to perform. They are possibly the best works from a collection of his numerous keyboard compositions.
