Love and Wine Trombonists may find these lovely songs have a similar feel and character to the iconic Schubert Suite of Lieder composed also for men's chorus. Mr. Sauer's great arrangement of the Mendelssohn Six Songs, Op. 50 for 4-part Trombone Ensemble is perfect for intermediate level performers as they are all in bass clef and of moderate range and endurance, totaling about 18 minutes of wonderful music.

Here is a description by composer Henry Wolking of his beautifully expressive new work for trombone quartet, Another Today.Another Today for trombone quartet was composed in the spring of 2020. This will most certainly join a long list of other compositions written by homebound composers during the beginning of the worldwide pandemic. Another Today is a seven and a half minute single movement concert work with several contrasting sections. Though hard to categorize, it is lively, energetic, and highly expressive. I rate it at the medium-difficult level of difficulty. The ranges are moderate but are highly rhythmic. I feel it is one of the most expressive chamber brass works of my career.

(The download version is priced less to take into consideration the extra printing costs for 2-4 sets of parts.) Agnus Dei - Adagio The work is reminiscent of the style of Palestrina and exists without a Gloria or Credo. Ralph Sauer has beautifully arranged this 5-minute work for 4-part Trombone ensemble. This work is appropriate for moderately advanced performers.

Number 3, Gloria Patri is a Doxology or short hymn of praise to God used by Catholics and high Anglicans. These three short works total about 3 1/2 minutes in length. This arrangement for Trombone Quartet (Trombone 1 has parts in alto and tenor clefs) contains 8 movements: Ayre, Courante I, Allemande I, Courante II, Allemande II, Pavan Allemande, Sarabanda and Allemande III. This glorious arrangement of Matthew Locke's suite of Baroque Dance music of about 13.5 minutes in length is appropriate for advanced performers and contains a moderate amount of optional ornamentation.
