Brass Ensemble Euphonium,Trombone,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887012 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by James Brady. Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. James Brady Music #5312711. Published by James Brady Music (A0.887012). This arrangement of the opening of Mussorgsky's best-known work is ideally suited as an opening or closing statement piece for a group of 4 early-intermediate trombones (1 bass trombone or tuba) or other bass clef instruments. It stays true to the original piece with adaptations in range for developing players and an adapted ending better suited for standalone performance. The estimated duration of the performance is 1m 30s.Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite of pieces for piano based on pictures by Mussorgsky's friend Viktor Hartmann, who died suddenly in 1873, aged 39. A memorial exhibition of Hartmann's works was staged in St. Petersburg the following year, and Mussorgsky's suite depicts walk around it, viewing 10 pictures in total. In addition to the pieces inspired by individual pictures, the suite contains several variations of the 'Promenade' theme, which depicts Mussorgsky roving through the exhibition, now leisurely, now briskly in order to come close to a picture that had attracted his attention, and at times sadly, thinking of his departed friend. (Vladimir Stasov). This arrangement presents the opening version of the 'Promenade', adapted to suit a group of 4 trombones (1 bass trombone or tuba) or similar group of bass clef instruments. The ranges have been reduced to accommodate young or developing players. The 1st part goes no higher than F4, and the bass part no lower than Bb1 (optionally A1). The melody is mainly in the 1st part, with passages in the 2nd and 3rd parts from time to time, but as the texture of Mussorgksy's composition is almost exclusively homophonic, all parts have equal importance. I have inserted additional dynamics and accents to aid phrasing, and adapted the ending to suit a standalone performance.

Trombone quartet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.IMF178 Composed by Willard Zirk. Score and Parts. 23 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF178. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF178). 9 x 12 in inches. This set of variations on Ein Feste Burg was originally written for a trombone quartet. It was commissioned by the students of my colleague and friend, trombone professor, Donald Babcock. They are Daniel Larson, Manuel Smith, Jack Porath, and Kyle Wickham. These fine trombonists gave the premiere of 95@500 during the 2017 EMU Music Now Fest, February 16, 2017. When I received the request to write something for them, I took the opportunity to fulfill my wish to write a piece to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation. The title refers to Martin Luther's nailing 95 theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, October 31, 1517. This act began a revolution in the Christian church that had great consequences. One major change was the creation of more simple music that could be sung by the congregation instead of a trained choir. Hence, the Lutheran chorale was born. It is not known exactly when Martin Luther wrote Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, but it is thought to have been written between 1527-1529. A copy exists with his signature that can be viewed on the Internet. Luther wrote the melody with no harmony, but many composers have since harmonized it. About two hundred years after Ein feste Burg was written, Bach used it in his Chorale Cantata, BWV 80, to be sung on Reformation Day. Luther had set it with irregular rhythms and that gave rise to the unique rhythms in this set of variations. However, the last variation follows the well-known regular meter.

Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811261 Composed by David F. Wilborn. 20th Century,Contemporary. 27 pages. Gordon Cherry #6624625. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811261). Here is a detailed description of the work by composer, David F. Wilborn.Elysian Fields was written for the Elysian Trombone Consort. Members of the ensemble include: Timothy Anderson, Chad Arnow, Nathan Siler, and Brett Shuster. The work was created as part of a recital feature that took place at the 2021 International Trombone Festival entitled A New Initiative II: Trombone Quartet Music by Composers of Color. The Elysian Trombone Consort created the New Initiative concert series as a vehicle to promote new and existing works by composers from under-represented gender, ethnic and social communities. The concert series aims to highlight the creative scholarship of under-represented artists. The ultimate goal is to encourage the programming and creation of more compositions by these scholars. The title Elysian Fields (also known as Elysium) is a venue in mythology that references a final resting place in the afterlife for the Greek Gods. Although Elysium was originally designated for Greek Gods and mortals who may have been related to the Gods, the venue was also accessible to certain mortals by the Gods for their heroic deeds or by those who enjoyed favor with the Gods. Images of Elysium are said to have radiant sunshine, rolling hills and, according to Homer in his Odyssey, the most pleasant weather conditions – no snow, nor heavy storm, nor ever rain. The music Elysian Fields attempts to capture the frivolity of living in Elysium. It portrays the radiant sunshine and the spirit of joy. The place is by all accounts a surreal landscape where sun rays softly beam down on the fields and, in some cases, it emanates as a heavenly backdrop. It is a place of everlasting happiness, serenity, and peace. This 5-minute work is accessible by intermediate to moderately advanced performers. The track below is from a live performance by the Elysian Trombone Consort at the International Trombone Festival in 2021.

Trombone Quartet Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1269033 Composed by Solage. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 6 pages. Jmsgu3 #861565. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1269033). Plusers gens voy is a ballade by the late 14th-century French composer Solage. The song is written for four voices: tenor, contra tenor, cantus, and triplum. The lyrics of the song are Plusers gens voy qui leur pensee / A leur dame ne sont pas nee / Car ele est de si grant beaute / Que nus ne la puet veoir sans faille which translates to More people have seen in their thoughts / That they were not born for their lady / For she is of such great beauty / That no one can see her without failing. The overall message of Plusers gens voy is a declaration of love and admiration for a lady of great beauty. The lyrics suggest that the lady is so beautiful that no one can see her without failing. The song is a tribute to the lady's beauty and likely reflects the composer's feelings towards her. The song is a beautiful example of medieval French music and poetry and is still performed and studied today.

Trombone Quartet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1124122 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Christmas,Easter,Sacred,Wedding. 10 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #724879. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1124122). This easy arrangement for trombone quartet has been adapted to be simple to perform and understand the structure of the original work for various levels of musical knowledge. It can be played freely by beginning students because of the ease imposed on the piece. It is often performed at wedding ceremonies slowly and reverently, challenging the effect suggested by Bach in his original score for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings, and continuous bass. This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works.
