Scott the Scatterbrained Skeleton is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Trumpet and one Alto Saxophone.

Scott the Scatterbrained Skeleton is one in a series of ten Halloween-themed duets each presenting a portrait of a different Halloween character. All ten can be bought together in one collection by searching for 10 Spooky Halloween Duets for Trumpet and Alto Saxophone.

When you think about it, it’s obvious why Scott is scatterbrained, seeing as there’s nothing to stop his brain falling out. His friends also called him scatterlunged and scatterspleened. He’s a happy chap, not a deep thinker of course, but he always has a smile for everyone.

Scott the Scatterbrained Skeleton is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. The main melody is staccato, with a more lyrical and sustained middle section. The key and range are as accessible as possible for both players. By Ben E. King. By Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber, and Mike Stoller. Arranged by David McKeown. Pop. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6070263. Published by David McKeown (A0.589459).

Stand by Me was originally released by the co-writer Ben E King in 1960 and is the sixth highest royalty earning song of all time.  However, King never intended to record the song himself. The story goes he had some studio time left over after a session and the producer asked him if he had any other songs they could put on tape. When King sat at the piano and performed Stand by Me, the producer recognised a huge hit in the making. This version is arranged as a duet for one Trumpet and one Tenor Saxophone.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around three minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing. There are some complex syncopated rhythms in the melody part and the challenge will be to tie these expressively to the repeating bass pattern which is present throughout. The short sample audio is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version while the full length youtube performance is the Alto Saxophone Duet.

By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #5303277. Published by David McKeown (A0.588121).

Indeed, the original working title of the song was Miss Daisy Hawkins.

This version of Eleanor Rigby is arranged as a duet for one Trumpet and one Alto Saxophone.  The YouTube sample above is the Alto Saxophone version of this duet.
