Vibraphone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1436071 Composed by Adam Lenhart. 21st Century,Contemporary,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Instructional. Individual part. 9 pages. Adam Lenhart #1016230. Published by Adam Lenhart (A0.1436071). “I grew up in the small town of Ottawa Lake, Michigan. My perspective of life in the rural midwest of the United States was quite pastoral, peaceful and quiet, but in 2020 I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and suddenly had opportunities as well as challenges I had never experienced before. However, many other new music students I spoke to stated how much smaller the city felt to them than their hometown. It was so interesting to see how the places we were raised impacted our view of how we live and communicate as a human race. I began imagining all the places in the universe where my small town would appear to be booming with life from its perspective–a lone farmhouse, the depths of the ocean, the edges of outer space, etc. One incredible thing about perspectives is that they are always changing, just as we are. The unfamiliar can always become familiar, and the familiar can always become unfamiliar.”-Adam Lenhart, 2024---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. As a composer, his music draws inspiration from nature, mathematics and poetry. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Associations Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. Lenhart has also participated in numerous ensembles across Michigan, including the MYAF All-State Choir, Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, University of Michigan Mens Glee Club and the SMTD University Choir. He thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other composers, performers, poets and visual artists. Some of his recent projects include collaborations with individuals from the University of Michigan Chamber Music, History, and Poetry departments.

Vibraphone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011453 Composed by Jerod Nunley. 20th Century,Baroque,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Jerod Nunley #3537259. Published by Jerod Nunley (A0.1011453). This piece is based off of the sarabande, a dance with traditions in 16th century Spain. It was also adopted in the Baroque-era as a movement in a suite (namely dance suites). Many composers added a sarabande to their works, including Bach and Handel. Another detail important to the sarabande is the emphasis on beat 2, with the piece in 3/4 time. The emphasis relates more to how the part would fit if accompanying a dancer. The piece is a 4-mallet vibraphone solo in E-Flat. It is primarily tonal with a some chromatic harmonies, however the chords are not written in functional order. It is a good piece for performers on vibraphone that are used to four-mallet technique but are not yet ready to approach higher level literature. The work helps prepare players for independence between hands. Pedaling and dampening are on the discretion of the performer, where they feel it is right in the music. Though it is a good piece to help students work on technique, it was not written as an educational work, but as my own attempt at a Baroque style with my harmonic language.

Vibraphone Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.981380 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Bruno Cavalcante. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,World. Individual part. 4 pages. Bruno Cavalcante #5748927. Published by Bruno Cavalcante (A0.981380). In Baroque music, the key of B minor had a melancholy quality. Bach reserved it for a few of his most impressive works, such as the Kyrie in the Mass in B minor. Bach composed his ‘French’ suites as a young man of thirty, when he was working at the court of Köthen. However, the suites have nothing to do with the court. Bach wrote them for teaching purposes in his own private circle. The first five appear in their original form in the little music book he compiled in 1722 for his second wife Anna Magdalena, possibly as a wedding present. But Bach continued to rework the pieces. The later versions, with the addition of a sixth suite, have survived thanks to the many copies made by his pupils. They are rewarding practice pieces that despite a certain compositional complexity (it is Bach, after all), do not make extreme demands on the player.

Vibraphone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.934981 By Tears For Fears. By Christopher Hughes, Ian Stanley, and Roland Orzabal. Arranged by Jeff Calissi. Pop. Individual part. 5 pages. Garden State Publications #4785701. Published by Garden State Publications (A0.934981). Everybody Wants to Rule the World was somewhat of an afterthought during the 1985 recording of Songs from the Big Chair.  Initially regarded as not fitting with the rest of the album, the song was written and recorded in two weeks and placed at the end of the track listing.  After its release, however, the song went on to be awarded Best Single at the Brit Awards the following year and was awarded a 2015 BMI award for 6 million radio airplays. Not sure if anyone has an opinion of this song other than it will never get old.  This arrangement for solo vibraphone is an up-tempo shuffle and based on the radio/MTV edit, and endeavors to capture the easy feeling of an enjoyable song from the 1980s.

Vibraphone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011450 Composed by Jerod Nunley. Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Jerod Nunley #3371255. Published by Jerod Nunley (A0.1011450). There has been a lot of tragedy in this world. One thing that I wish to ask for is peace in the world. I choose to approach helping towards it in the way I know how, by music. I wrote a Vibraphone solo, utilizing a slight amount of spoken text and quartal harmonies, to emphasize the need for peace our world today. It is a short piece that is in free time, allowing the performer to interpret the speed their own way. All spoken text are the words underneath the staff.Commissioned by John Zazo - Percussion Performance student at the University of Akron.

Vibraphone Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939361 Composed by Adam B. Grim. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 1 pages. Adam B. Grim #4331273. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939361). THE POWER is a vibraphone solo built on serialism. It was a goal of mine to pay tribute to serialism, which is an important part to music history, in my own work. This is my only serialist style piece, and it is for a solo vibraphone player. Honestly, it is not my favorite piece I've written, but the content and need is still there. To get a full view of music history, one must look into the eyes of serialism and atonality. I even show my rows, inversions, (basically the full analysis) so it is beneficial for the student learning the piece. Theory is not learned in a bubble!

Vibraphone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844759 Composed by L Streabbog. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Instructional,New Age,Romantic Period. Individual part. 2 pages. Phil Beaman #5347737. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844759). By the Seaside is marked rubato espressivo so that it can invoke the ebb and flow of the tides. It is pedaled every measure so that the sweeping arpeggios can flow together. Includes a short middle section using double stops. This is a great piece to learn shaped phrasing in vibraphone playing, then a great recital piece to show off those techniques.
