Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.588137

By The Beatles. By John Lennon, John Winston Lennon, Paul James Mccartney, and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #5306091. Published by David McKeown (A0.588137).

When I’m Sixty-Four first appeared on the Beatles’ 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Despite the song’s appearance relatively late in the Beatles’ discography, it was one of the first songs that Paul McCartney wrote, at the age of 16. When the song was finally recorded in 1966, Paul McCartney felt it was too slow and turgid. George Martin simply solved the problem by speeding up the tape and raising the pitch by one semitone.

This version of When I’m Sixty-Four is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing.

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #5301489. Published by David McKeown (A0.588074).

Michelle by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. The story goes that when John Lennon was at art school he used to invite Paul McCartney to college parties. At the time, French art culture was fashionable, and Paul McCartney used to pretend he was French despite no knowledge of the language. Later John Lennon suggested Paul should write a song recalling those times. Paul asked a friend’s wife, who happened to be a French teacher, for help with the French lyrics.

This version of Michelle is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Musicians at an early intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is a little over two minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing.

By David Cook. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #5303245. Published by David McKeown (A0.588105).

Eleanor Rigby first appeared on the Beatles’ 1966 album, Revolver. There has been much speculation over the identity of Eleanor Rigby, and a gravestone bearing that name has been discovered close to where Paul McCartney grew up in Liverpool. But Paul McCartney insists that he chose the natural-sounding name as a combination of a friend’s name and a shop he noticed in Bristol. Indeed, the original working title of the song was Miss Daisy Hawkins.

This version of Eleanor Rigby is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The YouTube sample above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

6 pages. David McKeown #5311651. Published by David McKeown (A0.588239).

She’s Leaving Home first appeared on the Beatles’ 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was jointly written and performed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. George Harrison and Ringo Starr took no part in the recording and there were no instrumental contributions by any of the Beatles. The song was inspired by a newspaper story about a missing teenage girl. The girl in question turned up safe and sound eventually, and had, by complete coincidence, met the Beatles at a TV recording a few year’s earlier.

This version of She’s Leaving Home is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of this arrangement.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance, with plenty of interest in both parts. The overall performance time is around three and a half minutes.

All You Need Is Love by the Beatles, was written in 1967 especially for the world’s first live satellite TV transmission. John Lennon answered the BBC’s commission to write a positive song with easy-to-understand lyrics for an international audience. All You Need Is Love was recorded live in a TV studio with many famous contemporary artists such as Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger singing along.

This version of All You Need Is Love  is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around three and a half minutes. The full YouTube performance linked above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Yellow Submarine, by the Beatles, was released on the 1966 album, Revolver. The song was written by Lennon and McCartney with the limited range of Ringo Starr’s voice in mind. The recording of Yellow Submarine included numerous sound effects and backing vocals from everyone from Marianne Faithful to Brian Jones. There has been much speculation as to what the lyrics of Yellow Submarine might mean, but Lennon and McCartney insisted it was just a nonsense rhyme for children.

This version of Yellow Submarine is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version off this arrangement.

Musicians at an early intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.

Help! by the Beatles, was the title track of the 1965 album of the same name. It was also the name of the Beatles’ film released in the same year. Help! was primarily written by John Lennon. In later interviews he admitted that Help! was a subconscious response to the pressures of fame and that commercial pressures had forced the band to record it as an up-tempo pop song rather than a reflective ballad.

This version of Help! is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe.

The range will suit musicians at an intermediate level though the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms will represent a challenge. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. The full length performance on the YouTube link above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Nowhere Man by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. Primarily written by John Lennon, he later described the song as autobiographical. The phenomenal success of the band had led to immense pressures on all of them. Nowhere Man later featured memorably in the film Yellow Submarine, personified as the lonely cartoon character, Jeremy Hillary Boob.

This version of Nowhere Man is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. The full YouTube performance linked above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. Primarily written by John Lennon, the song refers obliquely to an affair that never quite off the ground. Norwegian Wood was the first pop song to feature George Harrison’s sitar, and in so doing, simultaneously brought Ravi Shankar to the attention of Western audiences and deeply influenced the emerging psychedelic rock movement.

This version of Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of the duet.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two minutes.

By John Denver. By Mel Torme and Robert Wells. Arranged by David McKeown. Christmas,Holiday,Jazz. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6065187. Published by David McKeown (A0.589370).

The Christmas Song is better known to many by its first line Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. The song was written on a hot summer day in 1945 by Mel Torme and Bob Wells who were trying to cool down by composing a wintry lyric. It was first recorded by Nat King Cole the following year and was an instant hit. Nat King Cole revisited the song several times in his career and it has also been recorded by just about every noteworthy popular artist since, from Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul McCartney to The Jacksons, and many more. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe.

Musicians at an intermediate standard will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest. Total performance time is around four minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to approach expressive playing.

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #5324657. Published by David McKeown (A0.588770).

In My Life by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. It was chiefly written and sung by John Lennon, who claimed it was his first serious attempt at personal song-writing. The song features a baroque style piano solo by George Martin. The tempo was too fast for him to perform it, so he played it at half tempo and layer doubled the tape speed. The resulting tinny sound gave rise to a host of copycat harpsichord solos on contemporary pop songs.

This version of In My Life is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find In My Life ideal for formal and informal concert performance. Most of the duet is straightforward though the transcribed piano solo is difficult for both players; these eight bars can be skipped without affecting the overall structure of the song. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet Duet version of In My Life.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and syncopated rhythms.
