Ain’t No Sunshine — Contemporary rock/pop ensemble By Bill Withers Arranged by Dan Ford for contemporary rock/pop ensemble, including parts for rhythm section, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, and trombone. This arrangement is gig-tested and designed for ease of reading during the heat of a live gig. All parts include chord changes for improvised solos or embellishment of backing parts. N.B. This arrangement does not include lyrics, the melody, or a vocal part. The parts are designed for live performance with a vocalist that knows the melody and lyrics. Ain’t No Sunshine is the famous hit tune from Bill Withers’ 1971 album Just As I Am. This arrangement features a combined Rhythm Section part with clear chord spellings and rhythmic cues for bass guitar, drum kit, guitar, and piano. Additionally, the arranger has included original backing parts for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and trombone. The horn parts include divisi voices in harmony allowing a choice of which horn plays lead or harmony. The tenor saxophone can be doubled by Bb trumpet, making the appropriate octave transpositions.
