I found this song in a very old hymnbook, so old that you could feel the raised print on the page, and loved the lyrics so much! However, I felt that a minor melody would suit it in a really special way, so I rewrote it with new choral harmonization using a mixture of minor modes to match the evening mood of the song. This piece works well as a choir anthem for evensong, funerals, or for any more contemplative, low-key service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers.
