By M. Ryan Taylor. By M. Ryan Taylor and Michael Young (Words). Arranged by M. Ryan Taylor. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,Folk. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. Vocal Works #746528. Published by Vocal Works (A0.1146309).

The reason for the season comes wrapped in swaddling clothes, Not masked in pretty paper, or tied with fancy bows. The reason for the season comes from the humble stall, And not with lights or pressing crowds, like in a shopping mall. The reason for the season speaks to the quiet throng, Who set aside all pride of heart to hear the angel’s song. The reason for the season came here to show the way, Come celebrate by offering you heart to him to day. The reason for the season comes though no place was found, And not unto a palace hall with servants hovering round. The reason for the season, first sung by angel choir, Still heralds at this holy time to kindle and inspire. The reason for the season comes in this baby boy, Who soon will reign a mighty king, as millions shout for joy. The reason for the season came here to show the way, Come celebrate by offering you heart to him to day.

By Joe Cocker. By Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. John Fries #842413. Published by John Fries (A0.1247857).

Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns. Thanks, John.  English singer Joe Cocker released a version of the song on his album I Can Stand a Little Rain.  Cocker's version was released as a single in November 1974.  It became Cocker's highest-charting solo hit, peaking at number five on the United States' Billboard Hot 100.  Billy Preston wrote You Are So Beautiful with one of his regular collaborators, Bruce Fisher.  Preston's inspiration was his mother, who worked as a stage actress.  According to his friend Sam Moore (who had assumed it was a standard love song), Preston was appalled to learn that Moore was using the song as a means to attract young women each time he sang it in concert.  In Moore's description, Preston told him: That song's about my mother!.
