By John Denver. By Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. Arranged by John Fries. Christmas,Country,Film/TV,Holiday,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. John Fries #1064839. Published by John Fries (A0.1487908).

TYPE JOHN FRIES IN THE SEARCH BAR TO SEE ALL I HAVE TO OFFER. Thanks, John. Silver Bells is a Christmas song composed by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. It debuted in the motion picture The Lemon Drop Kid (1951), where it was started by William Frawley, then sung in the generally known version immediately thereafter by Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell. Silver Bells started out as Tinkle Bells. Songwriter Ray Evans said: We never thought that tinkle had a double meaning until Jay went home and his first wife said, 'Are you out of your mind? Do you know what the word tinkle is?'
This song's inspiration is the source of conflicting reports. Several periodicals and interviews cite writer Jay Livingston stating that the song's inspiration came from the bells used by sidewalk Santa Clauses and Salvation Army solicitors on New York City street corners. However, in an interview with NPR, co-writer Ray Evans said that the song was inspired by a bell that sat on an office desk that he shared with Livingston. Evans's hometown of Salamanca, New York has taken credit for being the city mentioned in the song's lyrics and holds a Silver Bells in the City festival each December.

Jingle Bells, known as One Horse Open Sleigh, is one of the most common and well-known Christmases in the world. It was written and composed by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published as One Horse Open Sleigh on September 16, 1857, a song for Thanksgiving and not Christmas. The song portrays how to play me lyrical while walking through the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh. Jingle Bells was the first song played in Space. On December 16, 1965, the crew of the Gemini 6A decided to get into the Christmas spirit and play this classic Christmas music during their trip to Space.

Composed by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons. Arranged by Leo Silva. Jazz,Multicultural,World. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 1 pages. MP Sheet Music #814392. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.1217874).

Composition and characteristics

All of Me is a jazz standard whose lyrics and music were written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931. It has an ABAC structure and was originally written in the key of B-flat major.
The melody combines the music's contradictory possibilities. The downward thrusts of the opening phrases suggest emotional despair, while the final line, with its repeated high notes, sounds almost jubilant. It usually runs in an average time.
All of Me first came to public notice when a performance by Belle Baker was broadcast on the radio in 1931. After that a few others also became successful.
Frank Sinatra recorded several versions of All of Me. Its 1948 release peaked at No. 21. He also sang it in the film Meet Danny Wilson, which may have helped Johnnie Ray's performance reach No. 12 in the charts that year. Sinatra's use of All of Me brought a non-jazz audience to the song, as did Willie Nelson, whose version was included on his Stardust album and reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1978. In 2000, All of Me of Me received the Towering Song Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
