Composed by Christopher Early, Mathew Brooke, and Timothy Meinig. Arranged by Teresa Young. Folk,Pop. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. Teresa Young #952447. Published by Teresa Young (A0.1368092).

Teresa Young's transcription of Band of Horses' sweet, confessional I Go to the Barn Because I Like The came about as most do: an adult student with a special relationship to the song wanted to interpret it and couldn't find it. Teresa's lead sheet version includes guitar chord diagrams. This particular student is a pianist with a guitarist husband, so a piano-vocal arrangement with guitar chord diagrams is available here too. Enjoy this uniquely real ode from a man to the woman he loves and admires. Whew!

By Brian Wilson. By Brian Wilson, George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin, Scott M Bennett, and Sydney Bennett. Arranged by Johnny Herbert. Broadway,Classical,Jazz,Musical/Show,Pop. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 3 pages. Johnny Herbert #928260. Published by Johnny Herbert (A0.1342752).

In the summer of 2009, Walt Disney Records approached Wilson about recording his own arrangements of songs from Disney films; however, Wilson first wanted to record an album of Gershwin covers, which the label agreed to support. He and band member Paul Mertens picked the songs to record based on Wilson's vocal range, and which ones he thought he could sing appropriately.

In addition to the covers, the Gershwin estate granted Wilson access to over 100 unfinished Gershwin songs and fragments for the project to use for new material. Two songs were completed by Wilson and Scott Bennett (who provided lyrics) mainly based on two fragments: Will You Remember Me, which was originally written in 1924 for the musical Lady, Be Good, was completed as The Like in I Love You, while Say My Say, which was unfinished by the Gershwin brothers in 1929, was completed as Nothing But Love.

Composed by Joe Rizzo. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Historic,Holiday,March,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. John Fries #1002320. Published by John Fries (A0.1420898).

TYPE JOHN FRIES IN THE SEARCH BAR TO SEE ALL I HAVE TO OFFER. Thanks, John. You're a Grand Old Flag is an American patriotic march. In addition to obvious references to the flag, it incorporates snippets of other popular songs, including one of his own. Cohan wrote it in 1906 for his stage musical George Washington, Jr. You're a Grand Old Flag quickly became the first song from a musical to sell over a million copies of sheet music. The original lyric for this perennial George M. Cohan favorite came, as Cohan later explained, from an encounter he had with a Civil War veteran who fought at Gettysburg. The two men found themselves next to each other and Cohan noticed the vet held a carefully folded but ragged old flag. The man reportedly then turned to Cohan and said, She's a grand old rag. Cohan thought it was a great line and originally named his tune You're a Grand Old Rag. So many groups and individuals objected to calling the flag a rag, however, that he gave 'em what they wanted and switched words, renaming the song You're a Grand Old Flag.

By Three Dog Night. By Hoyt Axton. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Pop,Standards. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. John Fries #986137. Published by John Fries (A0.1402912).

TYPE JOHN FRIES IN THE SEARCH BAR TO SEE ALL I HAVE TO OFFER. Thanks, John. Joy to the World is a song written by Hoyt Axton and made famous by the band Three Dog Night. The song is also popularly known by its opening lyric, Jeremiah was a bullfrog. Some of the words are nonsensical. Axton wanted to persuade his record producers to record a new melody he had written, and the producers asked him to sing any words to the tune. A member of Three Dog Night said that the original lyrics to the song were Jeremiah was a prophet but no one liked it. When Hoyt Axton performed the song to the group, two of the three main vocalists – Danny Hutton and Cory Wells – rejected the song, but Chuck Negron felt that the band needed a silly song to help bring the band back together as a working unit. Negron also felt that the song wasn't even close to our best record, but it might have been one of our most honest..

It was written for the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and was sung by actress Judy Garland. Arlen would often carry blank pieces of music manuscript in his pockets to jot down short melodic ideas. He described how the inspiration for the melody to Over the Rainbow came to him suddenly while his wife Anya drove: I said to Mrs. Arlen... 'let's go to Grauman's Chinese ... You drive the car, I don't feel too well right now.' I wasn't thinking of work. I wasn't consciously thinking of work, I just wanted to relax. And as we drove by Schwab's Drug Store on Sunset I said, 'Pull over, please.' ... And we stopped and I really don't know why—bless the muses—and I took out my little bit of manuscript and put down what you know now as 'Over the Rainbow.'.
