A melody of yearning and resignation - written originally for a collaboration project Letter to Howard Nicholls, which never took off. This particular melody, which I wrote for the project, has always remained in my mind so I made it into an instrumental duet. The pdf file contains score and parts.

Charles L. Johnson (1875 - 1937) was born in Kansas City, Kansas and stayed in the Kansas City area his entire life. Dill Pickles Rag was so-named when Johnson was working at Carl Hoffman Music Company. Apparently, while composing the piece, the company's bookkeeper asked Johnson what the piece was called; the bookkeeper was carrying a carton of pickles for his dinner, which prompted to Johnson to say I'll call it Dill Pickles Rag.
