Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575706 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Christian. Score and parts. 3 pages. David Warin Solomons #2026961. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.575706). I was entranced by the poem translated from an ancient rune by the Rev. Kenneth Macleod and I set it to music many years ago, originally calling it The Crofter's Song. ( - see the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6LBAMfAaRk ) it concerns a poor Scottish crofter who welcomes a stranger to his humble croft, feeds and entertains him, and finds blessing, ...for the stranger was Christ. This was one of the first of my songs using the Dorian mode. The following versions are available here The original song for alto and guitar A version for recorder quartet A version for flute and guitar A version for clarinet and guitar and A more complex version for recorder, guitar, piano and cello.

The songs are: An die Laute An Silvia (Who is Sylvia) Der Fischer (including an easier alternative part for the flute or clarinet, for when guitarists play using a capo) Du bist die Ruh Heidenröslein (Sah ein Knab ein Röslein stehn) Nacht und Träume (Heil'ge Nacht du sinkest nieder) Ständchen (Leise flehen meine Lieder) Vocal versions with guitar are also available on this site.

Small Ensemble Clarinet,Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.576904 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,World. Score and parts. 14 pages. David Warin Solomons #506803. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576904). Instrumental arrangement of my classical-folk crossover setting of Prévert's poem Pour faire le portrait d'un oiseau (To paint the portrait of a bird).  Prévert indicates that you can never capture the real essence of a bird. You can paint a cage, a tree branch for it to sing on, but you have to wait for the actual bird itself to enter your painting - only then can you sign your painting, using a feather from that bird. The music has a Dorian feel - ie with a minor third and seventh but often with a raised sixth - (in this case F#s in an otherwise A minor context). I have provided full score and separate parts and also the melody instrument part with chord names, to enable the guitarist to read along with the melody instrument player and opt for interpretations other than the notated version (eg strumming, rasgueado etc). The sound sample is an electronic preview. My live performance of the original song can be heard on youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkjYONGdicI

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.577530 Composed by Anon. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Classical,Renaissance,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. David Warin Solomons #1985939. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.577530). Instrumental duo based on an anonymous 15th century macaronic song about a girl who was made pregnant, and then abandoned, by a cleric. The melody is taken by the guitar in with variations in the middle, while the melody instrument has a countermelody, and then, in the final section, the melody instruments provides a few divisions. The sound sample is an electronic preview For interest here are the words of the original song with my translation of the Latin bits: Up I arose in verno tempore [in springtime] and found a maiden sub quadam arbore [under some tree] that did complain in suo pectore [in her bosom] saying I feel puerum movere [the little boy moving] Adieu pleasures antiquo tempore, [in times gone by] full oft with you solebam ludere. [I used to play] but for my sins mihi deridere [they hold me in derision] with right good cause incipio flere [I start to weep] Now what shall I say meis parentibus, [to my parents] because I lay with quidam clericus [some man of the cloth] They will beat me cum virgis et fustibus [with sticks and clubs] and me sore chaste coram omnibus [in front of everybody] With the said child quid faciam [what shall I do] shall I it keep vel interficiam [or kill it] If I slay it quo loco fugiam [where shall I flee to] I shall lose God et vitam eternam [and eternal life].

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797820 By Bread. By David Gates. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Contemporary,Pop. Score and parts. 13 pages. Derek Hasted #6348733. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797820). IF (David Gates/Bread) Bb CLARINET and GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This simple but charming melody has a guitar accompaniment that uses a clever mixture of stopped and open strings to create a campanella effect. Many of the arrangements that are out there don’t have same notes as the original, and therefore some of the cleverness and simplicity of the original gets lost. This arrangement uses the same shapes as the original, and there’s guitar and tablature as well guitar notation only so that you can easily see that almost all the measures in the music have the same right hand fingering, despite the mix of open and stopped strings making the score look much more complex than it actually is!The original key makes for undue complexity in the clarinet part, so I have arranged the piece to be played by the guitar with a Capo on fret one, so that all the clever shapes can be retained, and the piece moved from 5 sharps in the Clarinet to no sharps. In both the score and the tablature the fingering and positions are marked relative to the Capo, so fret 5 means 5 frets up from the Capo (actually fret 6 on the guitar).I’ve produced two clarinet parts - one sits almost entirely in the chalumeau register, and one sits almost entirely in the clarion register. The span of the piece means there always has to be places where the clarinettist is crossing the break but these are few and far between, making the piece accessible to players from early intermediate upwards.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!
