Here, There and Everywhere by the Beatles, was released on the 1966 album, Revolver. Never released as a single, the song was nevertheless cited by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Martin as being amongst their favourite Beatles songs. She’s Leaving Home first appeared on the Beatles’ 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was jointly written and performed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. George Harrison and Ringo Starr took no part in the recording and there were no instrumental contributions by any of the Beatles. The song was inspired by a newspaper story about a missing teenage girl. The girl in question turned up safe and sound eventually, and had, by complete coincidence, met the Beatles at a TV recording a few year’s earlier.

Help! by the Beatles, was the title track of the 1965 album of the same name. It was also the name of the Beatles’ film released in the same year. Help! was primarily written by John Lennon. In later interviews he admitted that Help! was a subconscious response to the pressures of fame and that commercial pressures had forced the band to record it as an up-tempo pop song rather than a reflective ballad.

In My Life by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. It was chiefly written and sung by John Lennon, who claimed it was his first serious attempt at personal song-writing. The song features a baroque style piano solo by George Martin. The tempo was too fast for him to perform it, so he played it at half tempo and layer doubled the tape speed. The resulting tinny sound gave rise to a host of copycat harpsichord solos on contemporary pop songs.
