SKU: A0.591421

Composed by David McKeown. Blues,Easter,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6293891. Published by David McKeown (A0.591421).

The Easter Egg Rock is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Flute and one Trumpet.

The Easter Egg Rock is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Modern Rock music has its origins in Rock’n’Roll, with the first use of the word in 1951 by an Ohio DJ.  The first big hit was Bill Haley’s Rock Around the Clockin 1955, but other artists such as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent and Little Richard all have strong claims to being the first Rock’n’Roll artist.

The Easter Egg Rock is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Easter Egg Rock is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. SKU: A0.588241

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 6 pages. David McKeown #5311655. Published by David McKeown (A0.588241).

She’s Leaving Home first appeared on the Beatles’ 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The song was jointly written and performed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. George Harrison and Ringo Starr took no part in the recording and there were no instrumental contributions by any of the Beatles. The song was inspired by a newspaper story about a missing teenage girl. The girl in question turned up safe and sound eventually, and had, by complete coincidence, met the Beatles at a TV recording a few year’s earlier.

This version of She’s Leaving Home is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of this arrangement.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance, with plenty of interest in both parts. The overall performance time is around three and a half minutes.

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. Primarily written by John Lennon, the song refers obliquely to an affair that never quite off the ground. This version of Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of the duet.

Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two minutes.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing.

Yellow Submarine, by the Beatles, was released on the 1966 album, Revolver. The song was written by Lennon and McCartney with the limited range of Ringo Starr’s voice in mind. The recording of Yellow Submarine included numerous sound effects and backing vocals from everyone from Marianne Faithful to Brian Jones. There has been much speculation as to what the lyrics of Yellow Submarine might mean, but Lennon and McCartney insisted it was just a nonsense rhyme for children.

This version of Yellow Submarine is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version off this arrangement.

Musicians at an early intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.

By Steve Tyrell. By John Frederick Coots. Arranged by David McKeown. Christmas,Contemporary,Jazz,Rock. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6064553. Published by David McKeown (A0.589348).

Santa Claus is Coming to Town was written in 1934 by Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie. Although it was a big sheet music seller at the time, it was Perry Como’s 1951 recording that turned it into a major hit. The simple harmony and melody have made this a perennial favourite with everyone from Sinatra to the Jacksons, Maria Carey and Bruce Springsteen. This version borrows from the swinging jazz style of various Sinatra recordings and is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal Christmas performances. There are syncopated swing rhythms and some less familiar accidentals. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. The short audio sample is from the Clarinet and Alto Saxophone version.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with jazz rhythms and articulation.

Eleanor Rigby first appeared on the Beatles’ 1966 album, Revolver. There has been much speculation over the identity of Eleanor Rigby, and a gravestone bearing that name has been discovered close to where Paul McCartney grew up in Liverpool. But Paul McCartney insists that he chose the natural-sounding name as a combination of a friend’s name and a shop he noticed in Bristol. Indeed, the original working title of the song was Miss Daisy Hawkins.

This version of Eleanor Rigby is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. The YouTube sample above is the Clarinet version of this duet.

Musicians at an ï»¿intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.
