Launchpad is a fantastic adventure inspired by the marvel of space flight.  It takes the listener on a journey that begins with sunrise over the cape, and out of this sunrise excitement builds as our craft makes its steady march to the pad.  Just as we get a moment to hold our breath in anticipation, the power and awe of the launch take over as the craft soars toward the stars and enters orbit.  Finally, we experience the triumphant return of the craft to Earth and celebrate a glorious mission accomplished.  

Launchpad is composer Noel Freeman’s first original composition for trombone octet and was named the 3rd place winner of the 2024 International Trombone Association Composition Contest.

Ralph Sauer has taken the final two sections of Bach's great organ composition Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major, BWV 564, and beautifully arranged them for 8-part Trombone Ensemble. It is about 9-minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.

The Adagio is in two sections. The first is almost cheerful in its minor key, but the 2nd part Grave is very dark and brooding. It was used during a satanic ritual scene in the 1934 Karloff/Lugosi film The Black Cat.

The Fugue is in 4-voices in 6/8 and bounces along nicely till its dramatic ending.
