The Gathering of the Armies is a fanfare from the 3rd Act of Wagner's opera Lohengrin. King Heinrich appears and assembles his troops to go into battle next to the River Scheldt. The hair-raising and climactic music is a joy to perform and listen to.

This wonderful arrangement by Ralph Sauer for 8-part Trombone Ensemble and optional Timpani is about 5 minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.

The work is dedicated to David Vining and the Northern Arizona University Trombone Choir.

Sinfonietta was written for large orchestra with 25 brass players. The composer was inspired to write the work after hearing a brass band perform and was excited to write some fanfares himself. The work is dedicated To the Czechoslovak Army.

Wagner's Die Walküre, the second of the four Ring Cycle operas contains some of the richest music for the low brass section. In Ralph Sauer's fantastic arrangement of Excerpts from Act Two, we hear music from the following leitmotifs: Fate, Crisis, Death, the Ring and the Walküre. They are all ingeniously woven together by Wagner to create the magical canvas of the Ring Cycle.
