Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful of holidays, a holiday filled with joy and music. We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing: Written in 1597 by Dutch composer Adrianus Valerius to celebrate Holland's victory over Spain, the tune was brought to American shores by the early Dutch settlers. Poet Theodore Baker wrote a new version of the lyrics in 1894, which became the standard Thanksgiving version. Over the River and Through the Wood: Lydia Maria Child, an outspoken abolitionist and advocate for Indian rights, wrote this poem in 1845. It was set to music by an unknown composer. Let All Things Now Living (The Ash Grove) This traditional Welsh melody (Llwyn Onn or The Ash Grove in Welsh) has inspired numerous lyricists to write words to the hauntingly beautiful tune. The poem by Katherine Davis, written in 1939, is the text most associated with Thanksgiving. Amazing Grace: Written by reprobate sailor John Newton in 1779. Known for his profanity, vulgarity and venery, he was imprisoned, beaten, and enslaved, before he reformed, and became a leading minister and hymn-writer. This is one of the most popular hymns ever written. This Land is Your Land: A traditional American tune, made famous by folksinger Woody Guthrie in 1940. Guthrie wrote the words as a rebuff to the song God Bless America, the huge hit by songwriter Irving Berlin. As a counter to Berlin's drum-beating patriotism, Guthrie would occasionally add politically charged verses expressing his support for communism. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed writing it. A flute choir arrangement of the 1977 Genesis release Pigeons, written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins, & Mike Rutherford. This quirky little pop tune purportedly came about when the songwriters wondered whether you could write a whole song around a repeated note. I loved how the chords changed around that repeated note, and thought it would be fun as a piccolo feature. (Don't worry, that repeated note is shared among the C flutes, not relegated to a single part!)Arranged by D Telgen for piccolo soloist with flute choir accompaniment. In addition to the piccolo solo, the arrangement includes four C flutes, two alto flutes, and one bass flute, with optional contrabass part. Piccolo and bass parts are mildly challenging; the C flute and alto parts are relatively easy, so this might be a good feature for a group with players of varying experience.

After much debate, I decided changing the key to E flat would be most appropriate for either small group of players ( minimum 7) or larger groups . In the piece there is even additional divisions to help create more texture and colors in parts 3 & 4, yet remaining simple and true but sounding beautiful , what flutes should sound like.Great for studying flutist, to high school and college students. Flute choir groups, etcwould be a great addition for your ensemble, whether playing at a recital, concert, church and other spiritual events, graduation, weddings, etc. This would also be a great tool or warm up for balance and shaping sound, volume, color, blending, phrasing and other important technique builders for your group.You'll love this arrangement   ,and so will the flutists and your audience!

This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is scored for 6 C flutes and is in the key of D minor (concert) with the middle section in D major. The range is around two octaves for all players, and I have tried to keep all parts interesting with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. It also has wide dynamic contrasts and heavy accents, along with legato and staccato phrasing, all of which are effectively used in this genre.It is set to Intermediate level- it is 4 mins 40 in length and would make a lovely addition to any programme.The youtube link has the full score so you can assess suitability. Price is for the full score and all parts.NB There is also another Flute Choir version available (4 C flutes, Alto and Bass flute) as well as a Clarinet Choir version.

This piece was originally written for vocal ensemble (Cantus I, Cantus II, Altus, Tenor I, Tenor II, Basso) and is typical of Praetorius’ flowing counterpoint and mellifluous harmonies. It would be a lovely addition to a wedding or similar ceremony, or for a quiet meditative moment in a religious service or concert program. The notes are easy, making this piece an excellent opportunity to focus on ensemble skills, such as balance and intonation. The work is only about a minute and a half in length. You might want to experiment with repeating the entire work, possibly with the top four voices (Flutes 1 & 2, alto, bass 1) up an octave. This song by Jax has a catchy tune and fun beat.  It's a song that talks about the beauty standards that women are faced with in our everyday lives.  Having struggled with body image issues herself, Jax wrote this song that directly calls out the lingerie company, Victoria's Secret, for cashing in on body issues, selling skin and bones with big boobs. The song has been an international hit. This arrangement is just so that people who love the song can play it.  I will admit that it is repetitious, but it's just a catchy tune! Scored for flute choir - 3 C, alto, bass, and contrabass flutes. If your choir doesn't have a contrabass, then it can be substituted by another bass, or any C instrument in a similar range, but it is a part that needs to be covered, as it has important (but quite simple bass lines).  There is an optional upright string bass part that doubles the contrabass an octave below.   There are 2 body percussion parts that are quite simple, but particularly important.  It's a stomp and clap (or snap).  You could also use 2 different drums, buckets, etc.  Substitute a low pitch for the stomp and a higher one for the clap. Duration: 3 minutes.

Magpie was premiered at La Scala opera house in Milan, Italy on May 31, 1817 and was an immediate success.  The overture has become a staple of the orchestral repertoire, as have many Rosssini overtures. In this arrangement, I have omitted the famous snare drum roll at the beginning, opting instead to stick with just the flute choir instruments. I also simplified the opening rhythmic figure in the interest of ease of consistency across the ensemble. Much of the orchestral piccolo part, often seen in auditions, is preserved in the piccolo part here and I have kept the piece in its original keys.
