Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549201 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 58 pages. Jmsgu3 #3460719. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549201). Instrumentation: 2 piccolos, 3 concert flutes, 1 alto flute, 1 bass flute, 1 cello. Arranged in two antiphonal choirs. Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. Parts: 2 pg ea. Duration: ca. 3:00 Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute,Piccolo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.817938 Composed by Alexander Borodin. Arranged by Adrian Dee. Romantic Period. 34 pages. Adrian Dee #4368834. Published by Adrian Dee (A0.817938). We are on the vast grasslands in Central Asia. In the distance we hear a caravan approaching. They are guided by Russian soldiers singing a folk song. As they get closer, we hear a melancholy native melody also emerge. The caravan passes, the voices of the men, the plodding of the horses and camels, the bundles of goods on their way to a foreign market. All intermingled into one song now. We watch them slowly fade into the distance until all we can discern is a faint rise of dust on the horizon and the fading notes of the folk song.

Published by Yoel Epstein (A0.773303). I wish you the greatest pleasure playing these arrangements of traditional Thanksgiving songs. Thanksgiving is one of the most beautiful of holidays, a holiday filled with joy and music. We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing: Written in 1597 by Dutch composer Adrianus Valerius to celebrate Holland's victory over Spain, the tune was brought to American shores by the early Dutch settlers. Poet Theodore Baker wrote a new version of the lyrics in 1894, which became the standard Thanksgiving version. Over the River and Through the Wood: Lydia Maria Child, an outspoken abolitionist and advocate for Indian rights, wrote this poem in 1845. It was set to music by an unknown composer. Let All Things Now Living (The Ash Grove) This traditional Welsh melody (Llwyn Onn or The Ash Grove in Welsh) has inspired numerous lyricists to write words to the hauntingly beautiful tune. The poem by Katherine Davis, written in 1939, is the text most associated with Thanksgiving. Amazing Grace: Written by reprobate sailor John Newton in 1779. Known for his profanity, vulgarity and venery, he was imprisoned, beaten, and enslaved, before he reformed, and became a leading minister and hymn-writer. This is one of the most popular hymns ever written. This Land is Your Land: A traditional American tune, made famous by folksinger Woody Guthrie in 1940. Guthrie wrote the words as a rebuff to the song God Bless America, the huge hit by songwriter Irving Berlin. As a counter to Berlin's drum-beating patriotism, Guthrie would occasionally add politically charged verses expressing his support for communism. I hope you enjoy playing this as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you need other pieces of Americana for your ensemble, you might find them in Best-Loved American Folksongs, in two volumes, available here (volume 1) and here (volume 2). There are also arrangements of Battle Hymn of the Republic, Stars and Stripes Forever, America the Beautiful, and The Star-Spangled Banner. You can see them all and more at my composer page. I have also arranged three songs from the Holocaust, which I distribute for free on IMSLP. You can find them at http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Ravpapa. If you need arrangements of any of these songs for special combinations of instruments, feel free to contact me at yoelepst@gmail.com, and I will try to accommodate.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576757 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary. 27 pages. David Warin Solomons #237745. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576757). The melodies in this work are based on my unpublished 1979 setting of The expotition to the North Pole from A A Milne's book Now we are six in the Winnie the Pooh series (under the title The Poohratorio). Clearly the Poohratorio itself cannot yet be published due to copyright on the text, but the melodies that it inspired have led to various pieces including a Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis (Canticula Ursae Minoris) and various sextets (Songs of a little Bear) including this flute sextet/flute choir. As suggested in the score, the ideal positioning would be to have all flutes in choir 1 on one side of the stage and all flutes in choir 2 on the other side (ie antiphonally). The pdf file contains score and parts and also includes an optional piccolo part to take the place of flute 1. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Ron Baptiste #951576. Published by Ron Baptiste (A0.1367219). This is a rather long piece (about 22 minutes) - but quite amenable to breaking it up any number of ways (by month, quarter, etc).  I wrote this over the course of the Covid shutdown, when we were pretty much housebound for long periods.  It's divided into 12 sections, one for each month, beginning in March 2020 - when we here in Canada first found out about the approaching pandemic.  I tried to represent each month as it affected me - some sadder, some a bit more optimistic.  I especially like December - mostly sad, with a brief reprieve for Christmas, then back to sad.  In this neck of the woods, Christmas was all but cancelled as we were pretty much in lockdown;  at the last minute, restrictions were eased to allow small gatherings for the Holiday.  Overall, it was a sad, lonely year - especially for musicians!  Whatever your personal stance on the pandemic, it certainly affected us all - and resulted in the loss of many lives.

Christian,Christmas,Concert,Sacred,Traditional. 28 pages. Stephanie Daige #5178771. Published by Stephanie Daige (A0.796895). This arrangement of seven traditional Christmas favorites will make your heart joyful as you prepare for the holiday season! The melody moves around from instrument to instrument in a conversation-like way, with rich harmonies and beautiful descants enhancing the melodies. There are parts for piccolo, flute 1, flute 2, alto flute, and bass flute. I’ve included a transposition of the alto flute part for an optional third C flute in case you don’t have an alto flute available. This triumphant medley is in the key of concert G major.  Christmas carols featured are:• Hark! The Herald Angels Sing• O Come, All Ye Faithful• O Little One Sweet• Bring A Torch, Jeannette, Isabella• It Came Upon the Midnight Clear• O Little Town of Bethlehem• We Wish You a Merry ChristmasI hope you will enjoy performing this medley as much as I have enjoyed arranging it! Audiences are sure to love it. This medley works well in a variety of venues during the Christmas season: school concert, church, shopping mall background music, chamber music recital, prelude to a choral performance/ sing-along, etc. It'd perfect for anywhere you want to lift people's spirits with beautiful, familiar seasonal music. Duration is approximately 4.5 minutes. There are also versions of this medley available for piano and other chamber music ensembles.

Twitter, founded in March of 2006, is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to post short messages of no more that 140 characters. Because it works as an application on cell phones people can share information immediately.  In its short time, Twitter has become embedded in our increasingly networked society. The composition Twitter takes five famous tweets-some serious, others funny, and some historic and presents a musical interpretation.  In keeping with the idea that a tweet is a short message, each movement of Twitter is approximately 140 seconds long. 1.  There’s a plane in the Hudson.  I’m on the ferry going to pick up the people.  Crazy.  Janis Krums, 12:36 p.m. Jan15, 2009Janis Krums posted this text and the first photo of US Airways flight 1549 moments after the plane made an emergency landing in the Hudson River after hitting a flock of birds.  His quick action helped to notify rescue workers and the media.  2.  Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial.  Somebody help me.Conan O’Brien, 3:54 p.m. Feb. 24, 2009 Shortly after being dismissed from the Tonight Show and finding himself in-between jobs, Conan O’Brien joined Twitter.  As with many celebrities, a Twitter account can allow fans to stay in touch and feel connected.  What was amazing in this case was that in just two hours after this first tweet he had over 125,000 followers-the largest number ever in such a short time.  His number has since grown to nearly 3 million. 3.  ArrestedJames Buck, 9:30 a.m. April  10 A graduate student from the University of California-Berkeley, James Buck was covering an anti-government protest in Egypt.  Buck was caught up in a demonstration, and while being taken to jail had time to post a one-word tweet-arrested.  Within seconds colleagues in the United States got word of his arrest and notified the university, the US Embassy, and a number of press organizations on his behalf, leading to his freedom. 4.  We just made history.  All of this happened because you gave your time, talent and passion.  All of this happened because of you.  Thanks. Barack Obama, 11:34 a.m. Nov. 5, 2008 The Obama 2008 campaign was historic on a number of counts, and the use of technology and social media was one of them.  This tweet was sent to over 2.6 million followers just after the election. 5.  Are you ready to celebrate? MarsPhoenix, 5:14 PM Jun 19th, 2008  NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has made an innovative use of twitter by sending messages from the Mars Phoenix lander’s point of view.   The message above is undoubtedly the most exciting news ever to be tweeted on behalf of an extraterrestrial robot.

This beautiful and poignant song  is part of my Compositions that care series, meaning all profits from thios arrangemnt goes to a charity. This charity is for LGBTQ+. ( about the song meaning)Wrabel, the composer, stated the song is about the LGBTQ+ community and all the hardships they face. The song is directed and to encourage and give hope to a trans person who is being treated poorly and ostracized , and to let that perosn struggling know that there is absolutely Nothing wrong with you and there's soemthing wrong with the village.Too many of the trans/LGBTQ+ comminity are struggling , especially in todays political climate. All around the world LGBTQ+ persons are being bullied, discriminated against , attacked, thrown in jail , and even killed with liitle to no laws to protect people.in my own personal life, as a victim of a horrible hate crime where the person involved attmepted to beat me and kill me , unfortuanelty i found out very qucikly how laws even in the USA do not protect me , how many cops ignored me and/or attmepted to make the attack  my fault , and how laywers did not want to help and judges either ,and beacsue of the laws i was not protected as a minority and the crime wasn't a hate crime even though the criminals admitted this as the reason of the attack.I was told that this was not a hate crime , unless the criminals made me a victim of S.A., used a car/vehicle , or a gun, or actually ended my life. I also wanted to add , this brutal attack ( recorded on video by the criminals )  which caused such serious bodily harm, had me in the hospital for surgeries, and required months of long and painful rehab and therapy. As a country, as a society, as a planet ,  we all need to do better, and have to have more protections for such a discriminated group of persons.I did want to add , all the issues happening around the world, and even here in the USA, such as the awful and fascist discrimitory laws in Florida and other states it's no wonder the statistics of LGBTQ+ that contemplate ending their person or even attempting the act .I ask respectfully  that every one please go to law makers and demand better laws and treatments of people no matter what community there are of. All people deserve respect, proper medcial care, and to have the same rights as every other human being.  We all  can and must  be the change  you wish to see in the world.
