Duration 15 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6687. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6687). Italian.Opening simply with a solo voice, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Italian settings of eight poems by Renaissance artist Michelangelo for baritone and piano take both the performers and audience on a striking journey through Michelangelo’s tortured and knotty Tuscan poetry. The piano is introduced in the second of the eight settings punctuating the vocal part with a variety of different textures from bell-like figuration to turbulent virtuosity.

A Kiss - Sung by: Cyrano to Roxane on her balcony, while in hiding. Written in the style of a classical art song, with some jazz added for flavor. Vocal/Piano Score. From Roxane of Bergerac - A full length musical -  A romantic action-comedy date musical about Roxane's refusal to be merely decorative when it comes to living her life, and this while questing for True Love and her Hero of True Romance.   The musical language is a blend of Jazz and Renaissance musical styles that parallels the mash-up of today’s slang with the preciosity (refined speech) of some 16th century Parisians.

Edited by Jared Schwartz and Mary Dibbern.Recorded on Ange Flégier: Mélodies for Baritone Voice and Piano.Toccata Classics, 2016. In d minor Duration: aprox.

Baritone voice and piano - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8826-1E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. African American Heritage. 6 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8826-1E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8826-1E). English.I’ve Known Rivers is a multi-movement work, comprised of songs based on four different poems by Langston Hughes (1902–1967). Though he lived much of his life in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, Hughes was born in Missouri and raised in Kansas, Illinois, and Ohio. At age seventeen, he traveled to Mexico to live with his estranged father. As he crossed the Mississippi River, he was inspired to write The Negro Speaks of Rivers, which begins “I’ve known rivers….,†and is the text for the first movement, “My Soul Has Grown Deep.†It reflects upon rivers of historic and geographical importance—the Euphrates, Congo, Nile, and Mississippi. As the rivers have endured over time, so has the human soul. The waters—the blood—runs deep.In contrast to the universal message of the first song, “Troubled Water,†which uses the poetry of the same title, is contemporary and personal. Water becomes an image of the unsettled and uncertain nature of love. The journey of love is a journey of troubled water. There is no resolution.Undaunted by the elusive nature of love, the poet, heard via the chorus, turns flippant, displaying a persevering and humorous outlook in “Jump Right In!†(to the river) from Hughes’ poem Life is Fine. Romantic misadventures will not conquer the spirit. “I could’ve died for love, but for livin’ I was born.â€â€œIn time of silver rain,†once more using the poem of the same title, is a song of healing. With the regeneration of spring, the poet marvels at the wonder of life.Though intended to be performed as the complete multi-movement work I’ve Known Rivers, each song may be performed separately. Baritone voice and piano - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8609E-2E Composed by Tom Cipullo. 21st Century. Secular. 7 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8609E-2E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8609E-2E). English.Young Thompson was captured as a POW in the Vietnam War. Now, as Old Thompson, he sings the Catalogue Aria after receiving a letter from Richard Nixon which warns that he might find some differences in the America to which he returns. Tom's pent-up frustration comes tumbling out in a sort of patter-rant in the contemporary musical language which the composer uses throughout the opera. In the Congregation Aria, old Tom thanks his church for their acceptance and welcome upon his return home. The slow, expressive nature of the music hints at Tom's desire to return to a simpler life, and belies the fact that his family is, in fact, in complete turmoil. This juxtaposition of nostalgia and present reality is deeply moving.Contents:1. Catalogue Aria2. Congregation Aria.

Baritone Horn TC,Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023338 Composed by Kristian S Rodriguez. 20th Century,Contemporary,Latin. 10 pages. Kristian S. Rodriguez #5191599. Published by Kristian S. Rodriguez (A0.1023338). I composed this piece as part of a larger song cycle, Colores mexicanos, which I wrote as part of an undergraduate thesis, Colores mexicanos: The Mexican Art Song and Setting Mexican Texts to Music (2016). This cycle explores various texts from various perspectives throughout Mexican history, culture, and society, while reflecting influences from Mexican folk and academic music within the composition. Si yo nunca... is the second piece in the cycle, and like the first, it features text from the Cantares mexicanos, written by Mexica authors during the beginning of the Spanish viceroyalty period in the 16th century. This text uses vague, abstract language to emphasize the idea that human culture never truly disappears, and it’s fitting for a state freshly defeated by another civilization. The musical setting features the Andulusian cadence, a compositional device frequently used in Latin American music, distorted across various octaves and in various figures, as the singer suggests that there is more after death, a fitting metaphor for an ancient yet very active culture that still pervades Mexican society today.
