Ride On, King Jesus and In That Great Gettin' Up Morning, African-American spirituals, are arranged here in a rousing medley that will have everyone singing and clapping along.
Ride On, King Jesus (no man can a-hinder me) is reminiscent of Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey and uses the rhythmic walk of the donkey coming over the horizon and into view in the repetitive melody. In addition, this tune is punctuated by the acclamation of In the Great Gettin' Up Morning, which celebrates waking up in heaven.
This arrangement is an Intermediate Piano solo in the key of C major. Although particularly appropriate for Palm Sunday and Easter services, it will gladden the hearts of the pianist and the congregation whenever and where ever it is performed.
