Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.992459 Composed by Eric Watson. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. Eric Watson #3502427. Published by Eric Watson (A0.992459). Aftermath was completed in early June 2011; the duration is four minutes and fifty seconds. The piece explores the juxtapositions of chords a semitone apart and poses several technical and musical challenges for the performer, rapid notes, octaves, contrasts of tempi and mood. The title and mood came as a response to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami and to the many heart-rending images that were seen in the media of families coping with the aftermath of violent disaster and shattering loss.It is also a tribute to the courage and fortitude of the survivors.    The work was written as the finalist's test piece for the Singapore National Piano and Violin competition.             .

Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.775934 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2033027. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775934). Lullaby (after Rameau) (2009) for piano was composed in honor of the birth of Goldie Celeste Hunka and is also dedicated to her parents: pianist Marilyn Nonken and playwright George Hunka. The substrate of the music is an E–D tolling figure, whose continuous changes in placement and temperament drive the discourse. The overall tone is tender and gentle, even as the music continually tries to burst its confines. (Jean-Philippe Rameau’s harpsichord piece L' Entretien des Muses served as a template for a number of structural and textural aspects.).

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.597602 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Concert,Graduation,Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Flavio Regis Cunha #6712473. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.597602). It probably comes as a surprise to many to know that Beethoven wrote variations on the current British national anthem, as well as on a jingoistic tune sung every year at the BBC Proms. But indeed he did. In 1803 he was approached by George Thomson, a civil servant living in Edinburgh who was passionate about collecting folk songs from his own country. He wanted Beethoven to compose six sonatas on Scottish melodies-a project which never materialized, but which started a business relationship that lasted until 1820. For Thomson, Beethoven completed some 150 arrangements of Scottish, Welsh and Irish folk songs (including Auld lang syne). Towards the end of 1803, he sent him these two sets of variations for piano, saying they weren’t too difficult and hoping they would have much success.Concerning the 7 Variations on ‘God save the King’, WoO78, Beethoven made the comment that he wanted to ‘show the English what a blessing they have’ with that tune. We don’t really know who wrote it, but it became very popular in 1745 when it started being sung at Drury Lane and Covent Garden to celebrate the putting-down of the Jacobite rising. It travelled over to the Continent where in 1795 it became the royal anthem of Prussia (‘Heil dir im Siegerkranz’).It makes a great theme for variations, and Beethoven has a lot of fun with it. If ever you needed proof of humour in his music, here it is. After some counterpoint in variation 1, he gives us some nimble fingerwork to deal with before an expressive minor-mode variation that can also be played a bit tongue-in-cheek. He changes metre for variation 6, a perky march, and stays in that time signature for variation 7. A lot of the difficulty of this piece depends on the tempo you choose at this point. The coda is inspired: a brief cadenza-like descent of F major broken chords leads us into a solemn return of the theme, but with some piquant and mischievous harmonies. The final allegro brings the work to a bravura conclusion.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314290 By PIano - Sebastian Kurz. By Geraldine (Denny) Green. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 27 pages. Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic #903031. Published by Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic (A0.1314290). Written in 2008, Miscellany, 7 short movements for solo piano, was Commissioned by conductor/pianist Anthony Davie.Duration: approx 15 minutes in total.Inspired by friends, family and general life experiences, this set of short pieces encompasses a range of moods; from Romantic and melodic to comical and dissonant.Movement 1. Didi – Didi was a very unique and special friend for many years. She gave out great spiritual strength and insight into this very confusing world in which we all live. She was a real tower of quiet, gentle strength.Movement 2. Brew! – This movement was inspired directly by the Brewing Industry. It strives to depict the hustle and bustle of a busy, working brewery and the the many hilarious, fabulous people I met during my three years in the beer-making industry.Movement 3 – Convent Cherub – This little piece began life as the opening title music of a film score I worked on while at college. The film itself, entitled My Brother Rob, was made by Alison Hilder, a student director at the Harrow School of Film. The story told of a young boy traumatised by a convent boarding school up-bringing. I have felt for many years that this little main theme has needed an alternative home, as much film music is never played again.Movement 4 – Megan – This movement comes directly from my wonderful and beautiful daughter, who was 5 years old at the time of the writing of this piece. It seeks to express her wild vibrance, eternal cheekiness, infinite energy, sparkle and the utter fearlessness of youth.Movement 5 – Edward – This music is for my gorgeous little son, who has Down’s Syndrome, and was only 3 at the time of the writing of this piece. The opening came to me moments after the doctor had confirmed Edward had Down’s, when he was only 6 hours old. The music tries to convey the fear of the unknown, huge unconditional love and moments of uncertainty alternated by washes of strength. And yet, all through the fear the resolve to forever love and stay strong always wins.Movement 6 – Indifference – The opening 4 notes are the core of this movement, and the piece is built around and from them. This music is an observation of deep, rumbling frustration at the indifference growing in our fast moving, modern society.Movement 7 – “Wee Us†– This movement expresses family triumph, the gifts of life and love, and the glory of boundless, wild, youthful energy. This tune has not yet run its course. It will be back!

PrestoThe composer and harpsichordist Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy was born in Paris in 1744, and died in 1824 in Villers-sur-Mer in Normandie. She married Jacques Brillon de Jouy 22 years her senior, and had two daughters, Cunégonde and Aldegonde, Anne-Louise Brillon de Jouy had a salon in Passy whose guests included the violinist Jean-Pierre Pagin and cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini. Benjamin Franklin was also a frequent vistor and Madame Brillon has an extensive correspondence with him, including the period after his stay in Paris during the American Revolution .Many of her compositions were purchased in 1957 by the American Philosophical Society of Philadelphia, in honor of this friendship. In 2021, French Pianist Nicolas Horvath recorded a landmark CD for Grand Piano (GP872-73) of Brillon’s keyboard noatas with extensive notes by Aliette de Laleu, Deborah Hayes and Nicolas Horvath and Christine de Pas The keyboard sonatas published here are intended to document this reocrding. The twelve numbered sonatas, marked “Troisième Recueil de Sonates pour le pianoforte ou clavecin avec accompagnement d’un viiolon ad libitumâ€, are in the hand of a copyist and are contained in a bound volume labeled as her Troisième Recueil (‘Third Collection’) and dedicated to Mesdemoiselles Brillon.
